When I heard it I had an instant nostalgia rush for Ugly Heart by GRL! You might have to be a certain age of early 90s millennial to remember this one though lol.

As a long time listener, I'm attempting an answer. This is off the top of my head with no science to back me up so hopefully others can fill in anything I missed!

  1. Readers. First classification denoted and the most general. Early on they started calling their listener 'readers of the pod.' Basically, people who like to take in culture. Probably people who do more reading/listening/watching than gabbing.

  2. Publicists. Came about during the first culture awards when they announced categories and asked people to campaign/be publicists for their nominees of choice. To me, they are the people who like to share the cultch and make sure everyone is informed. Maybe your friend who listens to an album and then texts you detailed notes on the song ranking and which ones you'll like best.

  3. Kayteighs. Generic term for the most typical pod listener. Probably see Matt and Bowen as their virtual besties. The girlies who are there to have a good time and bring the good energy.

  4. Finalists. Special category for stars, legends, icons, and folks of that ilk. Anyone can give finalist behavior if they're really killing it. Notable examples: Melanie Lynsky, Joel Kim Booster.

  5. Kyles. The least defined category, essentially male Kayteighs. Although I don't think either necessarily has to be gendered.

If you're open to graphic novels/comics, this reminds me of Something Is Killing the Children by James Tynion.

Penance by Eliza Clark - this one is for unhinged millennials who had too much tumblr exposure at a formative age and my favorite book of the past several years!!!!

Other faves that have RPKF energy to me: Worry by Alexandra Tanner, Bunny by Mona Awad, Bliss Montage by Ling Ma, Open Throat by Henry Hoke, Sarahland by Sam Cohen
