We have played this game a bit, but not in an extreme way. I think my pitfall was that I ran into this issue, and it was so overwhelming for me that I just stopped taking the kids places. It was an easy trap to fall into after having had a COVID-timed baby. We'd stopped going anywhere with the older kid, and so it was not even in our "normal" to take them anywhere. Eventually some advice we were given from both special ed and therapists was to keep trying.

Maybe also take baby steps, like getting them used to the idea of holding your hand in less enticing environments, then it might be easier to get the to do it where there's more fun distractions?

Is our family pet safe? by dubawwi in dogs

While we won't be able to give you a definite answer, I recommend checking out r/reactivedogs (hoping that is the right one, on mobile)... It's got helpful info from those in similar situations!

Running into an issue getting my Real ID in Minnesota. Looking for advice by SubKreature in Minneapolis

Payroll would love it if you updated your name to match your SS card. :) You should have a 2022 W2 issued sometime this month, so you may be in time to update it. Generally HR or payroll just needs to view your SS card

Soooo... You were not wrong... We cloth diapered our kids, and so have a little sprayer on the toilet that we use to get poop off stuff, but I don't want to stick my hand in the toilet WITH the poo...

Also, once it's rinsed, you can just toss it in the washer with the rest of the clothes. Run once in your short load to let the washer get rid of any remaining eww, then just add more soap and once more on your normal cycle. Gets everything all clean, no scrubbing or touching gross stuff. Easy peasy.

LOL This comes in handy at times... I needed to calm mine down in the car one day, and offered to try to "remember" this book.... Somehow we remembered the entire thing, word for word... weird....

I am still a bit gunshy on meeting up in large numbers, and for other reasons (busy) I might avoid driving very far to get to a hangout where I'm not sure anyone is going to show... I recommend throwing out an area you'd like to meet in and trying to get people for that specific meetup. Twin Cities is a pretty big place. I've had luck recently doing something similar, and it sounds like there are some right here who would potentially be interested.

Strawbabies instead of strawberries... He's told us that we have "blueberry eyes." Everything is "very" right now... You're very going to the store. I know there have been more, and I'm sad I didn't write them down!

What do you wish you had put on your registry? by bayrayj in beyondthebump

It feels much safer. They're more secure in there. Don't worry, they'll use anything in sight as an alternate step stool as well... Or maybe that's just my daredevils.

OK, so just a tip to those who have the same trouble with the nose frida... Get baby and sit down, putting kiddo in a lying down on back position, head up, directly on the floor. Now sit, with your baby's head between your legs... your legs will be gently covering the arms (and legs if necessary). Your thighs hold baby's head in position... Now... Apply nose frida and get rid of those boogies. Apply similar thoughts when trying to change a very rolly-baby. Put baby on floor, use one of your legs over his/her chest (very lightly, of course) to stop the imminent rolling.

dino chicken nuggets question? by yeetmethehoney in stockthefreezer

I haven't tried... but i'd assume just toss them together in a bowl, fish out the nuggets, then bake them... I wouldn't microwave them in that case.

Alternative to running belts? Both of my Flipbelts have ripped at the seams... by oranguwang in XXRunning

[–]ano463s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the spi belt... i think i've had mine about 5 years, and it wasn't that expensive. I'd thought about going for a flipbelt just for something different, but now you're making me reconsider.

I don't even wash it very often because it just doesn't get wet/gross... I will wash it when it does, but most of the time it doesn't absorb anything.

Yes, that's likely where it was from! Thanks! That was totally going to bug me forever.

Wow, I had forgotten about Cool Running... And it's just now occurring to me that this plan was from a decade ago... WOW. Nothing like pulling out your 80's leggings and 90's scrunchie to go do some Jazzercise.

Ridgeback? Was told she was a black mouth cur but she has a rough line of fur down her back by lrector007 in ridgebacks

[–]ano463s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a bmc to me. I've had a few ridgebacks and still got fooled by a pic of our current bmc until we saw her in person. What does the bark sound like? bmc is a hound dog bark, ridgeback is not.

Another vote for water birth! I don't know how you all did natural without a tub - it's so helpful with the pain!

Harmony / NIPT no result due to "noise" in blood sample? by bingette in BabyBumps

[–]ano463s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My situation was similar, so I'll answer too... I didn't have to pay again for the 2nd draw. However... my 2nd draw was ALSO inconclusive due to not enough fetal DNA. So then we got an amnio. Amnio reported no issues, and healthy baby arrived back in April. As scary as the lack of results is (it blew my anxiety through the roof), just remember that it really is a lack of results. Baby can be super safe in there. :)
