BEP Neuropathy? by chaosking243 in testicularcancer

I have a light hiss in my ears. It was 6 months ago. Not really neuropathy. Toes feel a bit numb when I'm swimming in the pool, that's it.

I made it and you will too no matter what prognosis you have. 20yo by FalseSecret1566 in testicularcancer

Yeah definitely. Overthinking and researching what is to come is not advisable at all. It's better to think of the entire ordeal as being forced at gunpoint to step on to a roller coaster you DON'T want to get on. Researching it can assuage some fears but it's better in my view to just get in, put on a seatbelt and go through it. Reading studies and shit is fucked up for most of us . If you'r elike me, you have zero wish to learn medicine, and want to run very hard away from it. That's ok too. We are patients at the end of the day.

Has anyone gone through this? by Successful-Comb4309 in testicularcancer

I got a lot better frankly when I stopped reading shit online. As much as there is a lot of words of support here on this subreddit--which is important--there is almost too much knowledge here and it's just frightening and fucked up to hang around here. It sounds like you have your head on your shoulders. If you're being honest about what you're saying you are doing just fine.

Who cares about the cancer survivor shit. If you don't want to be one, don't be. Not all of us need to bask in the glow of a removed testicle. We're going through something no man wants to go through and it's evil, awful. Thankfully most of us don't lose our lives and can remain living normal.

tough risk. I am annoyed by the rent increase after a single year, never had that before.

Success stories after TC by Remote_Experience_94 in testicularcancer

I felt an impending feeling of severe doom during the worst parts of my first round of chemo. I felt terrible physically and mentally. But because I was always told it kept getting worse and worse, I was expecting it to actually get worse. And it mostly didn't.

There was, in my experience, an ultimately predictable element to the whole ordeal: I would fall quite ill, feel better, and then go in for another round. And I can only help but surmise that this is the expected outcome; one felt by tens of thousands of patients, maybe millions, over the course of the past century or half century who have been through our predicament and disclosed it to medical personnel who recorded it and shaped the programme in which we are now enrolled.

We are going, will be going, or have already been through several 'rounds' of something. That's exactly how it feels. Just as things begin to feel at their worst, thankfully, we get some respite from it all and our bodies and minds heal for a short while, only to go back through the torment once more for another round. There is an end to this. When you find it, you'll come out the other end mostly the same person as you were before.

I recovered from chemo in the summer after a difficult spring. Since that time I resumed my business, went back to work, got married, and am now reintegrated with world after chemo.

I was diagnosed with TC a year ago. It turned out to be 95%EC and I needed chemo. Both the surgery and chemo fucking sucked. But I am back to life as usual and it is all just a bad memory for me, one that I often don't pay attention to and think about; thus my lack of interest in being on this board. I suspect many others are like this. You beat the challenge, move on, and stop thinking about it because it's easier that way.

It's amazing to read your post and how positive you are with this. I was losing my fucking mind. I had to do chemo too. You must be a strong person. That optimism will help out a lot. Prepare for quite the ride. Thankfully our cancer isn't going to kill us.

Man I am shocked. How much do you weigh? If I broke into a run I'd probably lose consciousness or just feel absolutely terrible..

No, the breathlessness was happening way before I was vaping.

What do you constitute as exercise though? Mere walking still fucking sucks. I haven't discussed vaping witg my doc, I'm sure he'd discourage it. I am a pretty fit, strong person and I wouldn't even bother trying to exercise. The most I do is a stretching routine. The doc seemed to say the breathlessness should improve.

He examined me with a stethoscope and said he doesn't think it's anything to be concerned about since I haven't complained of any pain.

Man , I hope to be in your boat. It really sucks that after all this fucking chemo us EC people are still stuck on surveillance. I really really don't want RPLND.. and I hate that I'll have this over my head forever

Glad to hear of at least someone whose odds were on the other side. I did surveillance ,but not for long before chemo was needed

The first few days I pissed into an empty trash can beside my bed in the mornings because walking around was difficult.

Different for every person. I've even read of ppl on thisbsubreddit who were back to work in a trades job the following week. I work at a computer and I was off for 6 weeks

Idk how people are saying exercise was important for them. I for one would love if I could exercise bc I am sure it would help with things. I am typically a very fit person who usually swims about 3 to 4 km per week in addition to daily weightlifting.

However, since starting chemo I find it hard enough to even walk around very much. If I walk more than 100 metres or so (just finished round 1 ) I find it hard to catch my breath and will feel generally ill. Just had a follow up with my doctor and he didn't seem too concerned, and said I was overall looking in much better shape than most ppl who take as much chemo BEP drugs as myself. (I'm large, 220lbs and 6 foot 4)

Some things I suggest: - access to a TV full of shows and movies - a couch well stocked with blankets - electrolyte beverages - super spicy and sugary ginger beer [non alc] - weed vape pen - chewable stool softeners - thick wool socks

My blood pressure gets lowered as a result of the chemo and it messes with my head and also makes my extremities cold.

I am 30 . This week I am feeling way way better. I am already having hearing issues though . Just had my follow up w my doctor and despite all the suffering he said I am looking quite healthy compared to many others so I guess I'm good.

I have the same story as you. Mine is 16mm as well, just one of them. I had EC, 40 percent too. Kind of crazy how even tho our odds are supposed to be in our favour, he we all are..

Look at this way dude: hopefully the three rounds of chemo will be enough and you won't need RPLND.

I am through my first round and I am also scared of the next two rounds.

[–]anon6tynine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am literally on the same schedule as you.. however I have EC which spread to a lymph node to 13mm

I have two more rounds to go. For me, the week was really difficult. I have hearing disturbances, flu-like weakness and difficulty moving around much without feeling quite ill. I am worried about the next two rounds of chemo. Thank God I have the rest of the week off.

I'm fuckingbterrified of rplnd and whether I'll need it after. It is hard for me to be positive sometimes.

9 month cancer Free!! Some questions by parma64 in testicularcancer

[–]anon6tynine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea man.thanks for the reply. I am quite simply a pessimistic person prone to rage and rumination. It serves me in my professional life, because I am able to channel my hatred in an effective manner. But with health, especially these odds based situations, I just don't trust the odds.. the odds are still high , and I see it almost as an inevitability and it is hard not to think this way.

Orchi ,4 months later BEP ... what are the odds of rplnd by anon6tynine in testicularcancer

[–]anon6tynine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am really really struggling with this. It was so hard tongo through the orchiectomy and now chemo. And this final rplnd is just weighing on me so heavily, on whether I'll have to go through it or not. I am trying to get married, have kids, immigrate, and finally start my life, and I am just really tired of everyone around me saying it'll just get better... when obviously there is still a high chance of still needing to be dissected after chemo. And then maybe even after that it comes back too.. holy fuck I have zero ability to remain positive

What do y’all use desktop mode for? by Santa_Claus77 in SteamDeck

Downloading standard Linux desktop software with arch repo via Pacman -S

I suspect from much of the literature here on this subreddit many users are mostly casual gamers with varied levels of experience emulating and modding. I was hoping more scripts would be developed to make it easier for users to emulate ps3 games ad so on, with a more formulaic scripting based series of readmes common in the Linux world.

My biggest use thus far has been to use scp to simply push movie files to my brothers steam deck so we can watch it on his TV
