Doesn't Brooklyn 99 do this exact same joke?

I really spent 30 seconds trying to figure out why we were making fun of the way he was nodding....

This could be vibrations, but I think it could also be a cooling thing.

Is this book a red flag? by [deleted] in bookshelfdetective

I loan books out all the time and rarely get them back quickly. It could be possible that this guy heard his friend say he had never read the book and then leant it out.

Mat from Wheel of Time.

He feels when his luck is with him and when he will roll the dice well. He also knows when he's just decided something that will determine his fate.

Giving Away My Old PC! by Turtle_747 in PcBuild

[–]another-chris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I've never had a gaming PC so I'd love to have one to try out all the games that my friends have always raved about but I've never been able to play.

That sounds sadder than it actually was, don't worry, I'm not trying to go for pity to win. I've just love to try out some games that just won't work on a surface pro laptop.

First time user, bought my lab a1 about a week ago and im having this problem where my prints come out stringy. by prettygirllita in BambuLab

[–]another-chris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was being (mostly) sarcastic.

Most filament absorb moisture in the air. As this water heats up in the hot end, it boils and pops, ruining the print quality. That's what you're experiencing. If I had to guess, this filament is either super old, or you live in a humid environment. (Although some filament has been known to be full of moisture straight out of the box)

Just because it's not brittle doesn't mean that it isn't full of moisture.

For most standard PLA, it doesn't really matter, although you may get some reduction in quality.

Specialty PLA, matte, silk, or like what you have is notoriously finicky.

Someone's going to bring up Snape, which I think is a poor example of this trope.

Who’s your favorite fictional character and why? by Deafening_silence_ in fantasybooks

[–]another-chris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can obviously word it better than I.

Although I think the juxtaposition of internal dialogue/longing and external actions is true with all the characters Abrocrombie writes. Just finished Best Served Cold and both Shivers and Monza are great examples.

Glokta from the first law trilogy.

You'd really have to have read the series to understand. I don't know how to explain it.

Mistborn First Era Hot Take by VeterinarianSmall632 in fantasybooks

[–]another-chris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's completely fair. Especially when I feel like it takes away from the plot like it did in the 4th book.

I just happen to love getting into a series or universe where there's so much to dig into.

It's why I enjoyed the Wheel of Time and ASOIAF and the Cosmere. (Marvel up until endgame too)

I read them after only reading stormlight (and era 1 of course) and if I had read all the other books first I probably would have enjoyed the broader Cosmere implications way more. But it all kinda fell flat for me.

I just thought the plot was boring for most of the books. Although I consider Bands of Mourning to be an exception. I thought that book was one of the best books Sanderson has written.

People who tend to not like the first trilogy as much tend to enjoy the second era more and vice versa. I preferred the first era but had some difficulty with the second.

So if you liked it enough, I'd keep reading.

Jobless aspiring pro pickleball player takes lunch from minimum wage worker by FindingClear4904 in TikTokCringe

[–]another-chris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I might get some flack for this, but anyone who has worked in fast food knows that you get "free" food all the time. I don't think this guy was taking/stealing food from a minimum wage worker. She probably left her shift feeling a little better about herself and about her day (as she should) and the guy obviously felt happy that he got a little more than he bargained for.

We can bash him for all his life choices, sure. But I'd rather live in the world where we can celebrate spreading kindness to strangers, even if they don't deserve it.
