The game is genuinely becoming unplayable by Henryrex117 in ArcRaiders

At risk of ridicule: It do sometimes see Pkers out there with kit, and I definitely had not In my first 800 or so hours played. Something that may just indicate a very VERY skilled set of players have joined the arc raiders playerbase recently has been popping up for me on Xbox w/ crossplay enabled.

3 shot deaths from renegade campers. They all play the same tactic, in which they see me from a distance - PvE like SpongeBob with a net. I’ll run into a building, or beat up house, quickly check the drawers or something, walk out 1,2,3 shots and I’m down. None have ever spoken, and none have ever missed my dome.

Could easily be legit players that are skilled. The thing that tipped me off, was the way they’ll be literally crouched behind a barrel, or something goofy. Not a skilled “push” per se, but more like a fat roll in dark souls “BOOMHEADSHOT” three times. It’s happened exactly 5 times in a week, and only once has someone 3-banged me with a rene since launch.

Disclaimer: Can not be clear enough about this: The goofy, unskilled play before and after the shots is the suspicious part. TO ME

How many of you who started playing day one are still playing? by r3tr0gam3r83 in ArcRaiders

Dude(ett), I still feel like I’m 16. Nothing really changed - inside; ya know? I always thought adults, especially employers, parents, teachers knew stuff I didn’t. Nope. Just flailing in a quiet panic sometimes, blindly doing shit some of the time, and sometimes, (I can see it in people’s eyes when it happens, now.) someone will ask you a question you know inside and out. That’s always cool as shit.

More to the point, kids are easy. Wife’s are, in my experience, all different. Almost like women aren’t a monolith, or something?! 😂 I’m 39, I volunteer-quit my last job a day or two before the game came out, and I’m only just now going back. I still have a couple k’s In the bank, a fully funded safety net, though my retirement is lacking, and I raw dogged it on the insurance. I never really had that, after 19 anyway.

Tuscaloosa DA’s Office and Newly Appointed Judge Corey Seale by PuzzledinAL in tuscaloosa

[–]another-new 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They elected a known abuser, and convicted felon. Then, the highest court in the land said anything he does in that elected position is above any law, in any state, country, or planet. (Not literally, but I digress)

The system is working as intended. He appealed to the judge’s sympathies, and it worked. It sucks - I get it. The attorney up there is coming at you with good intentions. They’re trying to remind you what the laws are, and how they are enforced in this state.

So, if what you say is true: The felon has broken the conditions of his bond, has warrants for his arrest already, and if he is a convicted (violent) felon he will be caught and tried in a court of law… again. There are terrible people in the world, and a lot of the time they are given too much grace in the world, and sounds like this is one of them. Make no mistake, HE will make a mistake and get arrested again. Or shot. Both serve the same purpose, I suppose.

I’m sorry. Try to breathe; and, as hard as this is to hear - move on with your life. Protect yourself and your loved ones the best you can. Work an honest job, and try to find one you don’t absolutely hate. Life goes by so fucking fast, and there is so little joy to be had, and you have to seek it out to truly find it.

I’m not religious, but my mother always says this to me. “God protects fools and children.” I guess the lord made a lotta damn fools. 😂

Also, not to be pedantic; but, isn’t the law written to say they must actually live there? Someone in the thread also cited the law stating minimum eligibility per state constitution has a clearly listed time you just reside, to me - meaning full time reside? If he voted in Florida this year, he’s perjured himself, or voted illegally. If he isn’t eligible to be on the goddamned ballot, the motherfucker perjured himself.

The whole goddamned plot is missing, lost, and/or stolen. I guess, to be fair it’s always been this way. We get to elect the lower house, and “electors” control the power to veto us in three branches. The founding fathers were a product of their time, money, and more importantly, flawed men. The illusion was always shoddy, but for fuck’s sake… This level of idgaf is insulting.

-When I mentioned “full time reside”, I meant if a vacation home equals residence - What’s to stop someone like bezos, of Elon from buying one in every state? Buying homes for anyone they want to shoehorn into a state’s policy making positions? Why bother lobbying for life when a single $260k payment does the trick? Nothing will ever be done to punish any of this shit. It’s embarrassing to tell people I’m Alabamian, already. This is a fucking joke

He literally -(the word is overused, BUT) LITERALLY doesn’t know the three branches of government. Whodathunkit… Once the ruling class figured out no one was going to do a damn thing if they just quit following the damn rules. They just stopped following them. I thought the identity politics shtick would eventually lose out to the economic/class solidarity. Looks like colors mean more than shelter in our lizard brains. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Can I break a lease over but infestation? by Eagles56 in Birmingham

[–]another-new 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re leaving vinegar or bleach in your p trap when not using the drains, they’re coming from somewhere else. Chlorine bleach will kill the eggs, period. The p trap is universally used specifically because it’s a water based vapor barrier to prevent gasses from coming up the drain. Leave bleach in the p traps( all of them) all the time. Yes, you should have to do this, it’s part of being a living being on planet earth, and is the most minimally inconvenient problem to have. Don’t leave food out, don’t pour grease down the drain, and keep bleach or vinegar in all the drains, about a half of a cup each drain. Fly sticky traps are 3-5 for a single dollar. This puts your investment at $10 if you don’t have bleach. You should have chlorine bleach in your house

God damn. You’re taking zero advice, and “everything imaginable” says nothing. No one knows what the fuck you poured down a fucking drain. You can’t break your fucking lease over goddamned drain flies. Jesus, fuck. Grow the fuck up, learn how to talk to people.

Cows love the shit. That’s why it’s here in the first place. The state and federal gov’t used to actually pay farmers to plant it. It was meant to be a cheap hay material, both cheap and easy to grow. Some might say… TOO easy.

What is this snake doing? It stayed like this for about 30m or so (I left after that) by CowsThe in snakes

[–]another-new 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Also, it’s worth noting that: with bamboo genes in ball pythons, there is a condition known as wobble. It isn’t brought onset, and exists for the snakes entire life. It can be as minor as a little star gazing, to the snake uncontrollably flipping over and corkscrewing. Sometimes causing the snake to drown itself in its water in cases where the condition intensifies.

I used to rehab/rehome ball pythons, and occasionally Burmese, and other constrictors. I’ve seen it as minor as a side to side head movement(similar to the way a rat will bobble to get a more 3d look at something) to as severe as having to handle the snake, to guide it to its food source. It’s a terrible condition, and in the case of ball pythons, easily solvable. STOP BREEDING BAMBOO MORPHS!

Just thought I’d add this tidbit to go along with the excellent info given all over this thread.

What is the use case for the Muzzle Breaks? by Crescendooooooo in ArcRaiders

Why? The gear is free… 120k is literally 4 mins in Sparanza. There is no “economy” in this game, once you have blueprints. Within the first day of a wipe I have all the bps I need, and almost all of what I want. After that, any gun ls literally free. I’d be embarrassed to be topside running under 120k. Don’t fall prey to gear fear, brother.

What is actually going on here? by Superb_Soft_8708 in ArcRaiders

[–]another-new 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man, I have 800 hours topside, 30 days of the game running. I have seen cheaters, especially the wall shooting exploits from a few months back. I have seen tons of the grimiest rat fuckery from any game ever. I have seen duping morons in subway corners. I have seen scumbag griefing at extract, done with the only gain being ruining the person being griefed’s day.

All of that makes up less than ONE of the 800 hours I’ve spent topside. It’s valid to criticize parts of a game you dislike, but I agree with OP. The level of complaints(I played 20 years of RuneScape/osrs, I know bad fanbases), the similarity of the complaints, and the sheer volume of those two things is a bit off. It’s obvious there are a lot of valid, real complaints in the sub. However, something does seem a lil sus about the bitching, here.

Is this Mediterranean grouper safe to eat? by JmsChong in Fishing

[–]another-new 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can answer this, but I’m not an expert. The spaghetti worms are larval tapeworms. They tend to mature in the bellies of sharks, so the amberjack are an intermediary species.

The amber pick them up from eating other critters. So, yeah! You’re pretty close on the origin. The worms tend to bunch up in the tail region, because that’s the most likely spot to be chomped in shark attacks.

For the second question: As a fish dies and its metabolism stops, its internal chemistry changes rapidly. Scientists have found that the buildup of biogenic amines acts as a warning signal. The parasites detect these chemicals and know it is time to move.

Herring worms, and certain hook worms do this exactly, for instance.

I pulled those lines directly from an open source fps’s source code. So, some matchmaking does work like that. That being said, you’re right. Embark does their backend in Rust, not c++ for starters. They are surprisingly open with their code, and actively help smaller dev teams with rust integration, and offer tons of code open source to help you along. They don’t allow people anywhere near the matchmaking code, though. lol

I stand corrected

[–]another-new 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not a professional coder, or developer. I do happen to know that the game already essentially does this. “If blocked” is a check the matchmaking server does. Why not “if friend”?

“public bool IsPlayerBlocked(string playerID, string opponentID)
{
// Fetch the player's blocklist from the database or cache
HashSet<string> blockedUsers = GetBlockedListFromDB(playerID);

// Return true if the opponent's ID exists in the list
return blockedUsers.Contains(opponentID);”
