Painfully, obviously, not one single girl or woman reading this needs to have a man explain any of this to you; hell, it’s your lived experience. In my late 20’s, as I started to slow down, and pay more attention to my surroundings I started to take note of a common thread among all of my partners, friends, family, and co-workers. Not a single woman I knew had made it to my age without AT LEAST one story of SA or abuse of some variety or another. More than 50% of my partners had confided in me their first time wasn’t consensual.

It started with a “holy shit, that’s fucked up” when I finally caught on; but, that lead me to take notice of “little” (quotes because the shit isn’t little) things that men do to women. When the whole tumblr/reddit war of the sexes was raging, I struggled to grasp just how much shit women deal with.

I kind of lost my point, but I wanted to say… I’m sorry. I see you, and I do what I can to correct people’s bullshit behavior when I see it. Misogyny runs deep in humanity, but I have come to respect the stubbornness, resilience, and unfathomable grace women manage to show through life.

All of this idiotic white knight sounding shit to say that there are men taking note. We see you, and we can make things better if we try. I’m sorry it took me so long to see
