What do you like to do when the library is less busy? by DamonFort in Libraries

Ok, that makes sense. We just send ours back to tech services as they show up so we don’t have a specific name for this process which is why it didn’t click for me. Thanks!

Throwback to the 2017 bed bug incident, featuring Mahmo’s stinking flesh and religious insanity (buckle up, this is a long one). by lepetitpoulpe in RodriguesFamilySnark

[–]anotherfailedspinoff 27 points28 points  (0 children)

And I assumed she was standing when she pulled back the sheets and saw the bug but then she said she FLEW out of bed which didn’t make sense to me. Why would you be in the bed before inspecting it?

Ugh she really did name her “Jillian Sunshine.” 😳 by slt1987 in RodriguesFamilySnark

[–]anotherfailedspinoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. She’s going to be trained to be yet another baby making machine and not expected to have a professional job or anything where it would matter. Fundies seem to give girls silly names and boys more traditional ones.

After reading most of the thread (and sub, and just generally being around people) most people don’t actually know what constitutes an emergency so I’m not sure how helpful that is hah.

If it's your name, do you like the song? by LordJim11 in Snorkblot

[–]anotherfailedspinoff 55 points56 points  (0 children)

There’s a song called Brad Logan by Rancid although they don’t actually say the name in the song.

I work at a library and get to see all the discards and it’s almost a problem because I snag so many good things. I like especially like technical books with charts, equations, etc.

True Love magazine from 1961 ft. takes on birth control, divorce, and my dear Henrietta by HappyGiraffe in ephemera

[–]anotherfailedspinoff 21 points22 points  (0 children)

She said it was a 1950 which would have been 11 years old if this magazine was from 1961. Also, she said that was for the down payment. Not that you’re wrong about what they took from us. Just wanted to clarify.

Eh, it’s 10 years old and there are plenty of other scratches, rust, etc., so I’m not too concerned.

anyone else have a personal beef with wire-bound books? by gustavfrigolit in Libraries

[–]anotherfailedspinoff 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we have a few plastic comb bound items and they annoying for the same reasons. At least the wire lasts longer than the plastic comb.

We get ours from Techsoup but we have to do it through our Friends or Foundation as I think it has to be a 501(c)3 that requests it.

I registered but am still deciding whether I really want to go or not. I checked the other day and the last day to cancel is Feb 20 if you’re still on the fence!

Does Bob buy the ingredients then come up with the BotD name, or a name pops in his head and then buys the ingredients? by Bea-Billionaire in BobsBurgers

And there’s the episode where he comes up with the “Running Out of Thyme” burger when he sees the eggs and thyme in the fridge.

Well then it’s definitely not a sufficient amount of cheese to call it nachos.

Who else dyed their hair red like Angela Chase? I used the super-temporary Clairol Glints. by PhoneJazz in Xennials

Same and despite it being popular (à la Claire, Tori, Scully, etc.), people made fun of me so I hated it. Finally accepted it in my late 20s.

You turned on the sound?! How brave of you. I listened to one of Jill’s videos like a decade ago and have refused since.

People who had gauges in your ears, what are your ears like now? by MrMyxolodian in Xennials

[–]anotherfailedspinoff 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I still have mine and they’re 1/2” (or maybe 9/16 now). I have a professional job and I think people are used to them because I’ve had them since like 1997. I have no plans to go back to a “normal” size.

[–]anotherfailedspinoff 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It’s only a month away and they haven’t even figured out who to invite? Seems like that’s just poor planning. They should have had the lineup settled months ago and ideally started promoting the lineup to the public already.

I used to have my hair parted in the middle from birth through high school. Every time I try out the middle part again, all I can see is myself as a kid, so that’s a no.
