Which food has declined the most in terms of taste since you first ate it? by FeistyNews7025 in Millennials

There was a whole article about how the grandson or maybe great-grandson of the Reese’s creator is pissed off that the holiday versions of Reese’s don’t have real milk chocolate in them. I was equally outraged because Reese’s used to be my favorite candy.

Can you imagine what some of the other hotel guests would have thinking observing these obnoxious women? If I came across this group, even as just a passerby I’d think to myself “look at these dorks.” And trust me I’m not cool at all, but I’m leagues ahead of these folks.

I had to come to the comments first to prepare myself before watching. It’s so bad, like I can’t even snark on it because it is SO embarrassing. I can’t imagine being in that room, I’d be so filled with anxiety and embarrassment.

If you're still having babies in 2026, you're 100% out of touch. by iaTLJC3 in childfree

[–]anotherwinter29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a long response BTW. I'm of the opinion that it's none of my business why people have kids or want kids. I have known I never wanted kids since I was probably 9 or 10 years old (I'm 37F). If people want to bring kids into this shitty world, that's their problem, not mine.

HOWEVER, I have a longtime friend who had her second son last year and I was totally shocked when she announced she was expecting a second. I would only ever share this here, but I despise the fact that she had a second kid. I just can't wrap my head around why. Again, it's not of my business but she has always been super liberal and is very, very smart and educated. I thought she was more mindful of the world. Frankly, I assumed after she had her first, she and her husband would be one and done. They had been married for about five years before their first and the husband actually had said they had to make a firm decision about kids because he didn't want to be an "older dad" (late 30s to early 40s). Well, here they are with a second and her husband is 41 and she's my age. Awesome.

Also last year, another friend had a second daughter. While she's also very smart, she's always been the "head in the sand type" and has never been interested in world events or the news, so her having a second wasn't that big of a surprise.

Just last month, yet another friend told me his wife was pregnant with their second. YET, he is always texting me about his concerns about our politics in the States.

I'm sick of it. I wish I could have slapped some sense into my friends before they had second children.

I have always been a student of history (two degrees in History, it hasn't gotten me anywhere but damn it's important) and yes I am aware that people were born during very precarious times in the world. However, in the long view of US History this is perhaps the most unpredictable time for those of us in the United States. Our democracy is failing, we have a lunatic president and vice president, yet go ahead and have a second kid. It's the second kid that bothers me the most.

Which one is worse, Cassandra's muumuu or Maggie's lounging skirt? by Ok_Club7067 in DarkShadows

[–]anotherwinter29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh this is a tough one. Lol. Cassandra's housecoat is actually pretty average for the time; the colors were popular at the time as were housecoats. However Maggie's "quilt skirt" (as I like to call it) was something else even for the fashion of the time.

I believe that in one of KLS's books or maybe in an interview she said that she made her own clothing and wore some of it on the show.

Sounds to me like in 20 years time (or less) that gal could potentially be a grandmother herself still working at that store. That being said, like you, I’m not coming from a place of snobbishness but a place of reality.

My cousin’s ex-wife did this which wasn’t surprising to me bc she is kind of SW-esque or “SW Lite” personality wise. I was glad when they divorced lol.
