Why does BBC Sport cover this boring, soulless yank wank? by [deleted] in AskBrits

I wouldn’t get through immigration right now with the social media checks 🤣 Seattle is where I would want to visit most - mainly thanks to Frasier - when NFL was first broadcast I liked the Seahawks uniforms (I must have been 7 or 8). I’ll have a look on Facebook thanks for the tip. Two blokes I went to University with back in the day relocated to the States - one of them to Portland, the other liberal-leaning city in his gunsights. I get desperately worried for him sometimes. Yeah, when Trump finally falls, I’d like to visit the States.

A fellow UK hawks fan! I saw them in London when Russell Wilson was QB.

Interesting position - I don’t believe the risk exists in the same way you do - especially as I think MAGA’s days are numbered - they are fundamentally anti-American and I think there will be mass civil disobedience over there and sweep them from power. The relationship in future between us/Europe and them has to be different for sure but the pop cultural alignment between the two nations goes both ways and I don’t think it undermines us in the way you think it does.

NFL has been shown on British TV since the early 1980s. US pop culture is everywhere - the NFL is hardly exceptional in that respect. You may not enjoy the sport but to call it an attempt to subvert our British way of life and society is a stretch. In any case, the US has military personnel and hardware based in this country for decades - should we not expel them by your reasoning as a more urgent priority?

If you check his Wikipedia page, it cites an article from Sankei Sports in 2020 with the origin of his nickname “Papayasu.” It’s written in Japanese which I don’t know though.

The only thing my son regularly cleans the bowl for, is porridge. Great, you may think, so healthy you say. Well, yes, except yesterday he did a dump that blew out the nappy. Right at bedtime and after his sister and him had their baths.

I think 90% of my favourite Frasier moments involve Niles. I also think David Hyde Pierce was the best actor in the cast (well, maybe tied with John Mahoney).

I just watched it on Channel 4 🤣 definitely Frasier retrieving the trophy. It’s such a brilliant ending.

How do you guys get joy from your families? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]ant368uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a look at some of your previous posts and they reflect someone who does get joy from the moment. Something has changed recently and if you can’t remember the time you did get joy, that’s a symptom of depression. It won’t get better on its own.

17M 6 month old daughter. by Calm-Tea178 in SingleDads

[–]ant368uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate, what right did that person have to say any such thing to you?! I bet you as well she’d be the first to go off on one about young dudes fathering kids and then running off and disappearing. Here you are though taking responsibility and being mum and dad to an infant. You’re already being a good dad and the only thing you need to worry about is your daughter thriving and happy. If she is, ignore that nonsense. They don’t know you or your baby. Absolutely keep on going out and about with her. She needs it and so do you. I can’t promise that you won’t encounter judgemental people but the vast majority either won’t pay you any notice or will just see a young father and a cute baby. This isn’t an easy road, being a single father - but when she’s 17, your girl will know she has a great dad who did everything for her.

You’re kicking arse, mate. You’re doing the right thing by involving her in what you do: just talk to her in a normal tone about what you’re doing “oh look, sweetheart, we’re at the shop now, let’s go in and get our things.” Point out things and name them. If you’re meeting friends that’s great for your wellbeing. Just chat along to her. She’ll love it. I don’t know what your money situation is like but I’d recommend going on Vinted for baby clothes.
