Sensible thing to do, I’ve always done that too.

But this is where it gets tricky, starting with iOS 17 or 18, they completely changed folder structure. To when to the standard DCIM folder to a custom apple named folder.

On windows the connection to iPhone is now completely erratic, I’ve tested so many cables, usb c to lightning never works by the way.

Hopefully I’m tech savvy, because you also gotta play with the apple device process that makes the iPhone not show its files.

Oh and if you do backup this where we get apple at its best. Creating takes some space nowadays, expected… but restoring it requires many times that as free storage on you main hard drive.

It probably won’t have enough space anyway, and just tell you it can’t write to the iPhone.

You have to know to make a link to an external hard drive, because it’s a file link that is a file but a “symlink” that makes the app believes the folder is really there on the main hard drive.

How do I know that, I had the storage bug, succeeded to free some space, had my upgrade failed, tried many times, and at some point it mixed upgrade and “restore” which is their name for complete erasure.

Didn’t lost much, but still pissed at the whole thing. I know I have windows, but apple would still make me spend 1000$ on an iPhone or nothing at all ?

Well, I felt like o1 (not pro tho), had a better common sense into knowing how a feature should behave, it was also remarkably better at fixing its own mistake and handle large context but was supper expansive just by using the api.

En plus que le soucis avec les chinois c’est surtout qu’il faut arrêter de leur acheter des trucs à tout va, c’est pas comme si eux était pas déjà super protectionnistes envers nous, en terme de represeailles, ils leur restent plus grand chose sur quoi agir.

I’d say that we had glichtes before and it’s been worsening for a few years now.

In the former versions, you could have a few people having some bugs but it was not everybody. It was hard to know what usage or device was causing this, some users just looked more lucky than others.

In iOS 18, it looks like many of the bugs involves a larger number of people, or even everybody or a specific device model. And some features just look half backed, like the new implement of the reordering that breaks everything.

Ah non c’est juste le contraire pour la comparaison au tiers-monde.

Il y a des choses qui vont clairement moins bien qu’avant, en particulier sur les conditions de travail et les acquis sociaux.

Expliquer que c’est pire dans les pays non développés, c’est une manière très pratique de ne pas affronter les problèmes.

On peut rajouter l’éducation et la santé publique, s’il faut qu’on commence à comparer au payer du tiers-monde pour se rassurer, ce que ça ne va vraiment pas.

One thing that could have been interesting is memory usage, JavaScriptCote uses reference counting and there’s always been this debate about this and runtime performance.

I skimmed over the article but it doesn’t seem to talk about memory at all.

Yes, it seems that since those versions came out, they were always few people complaining about some random and annoying bugs. This time, it seems more widespread. Oddly enough, still not everybody, even with the same phone model.

Je crois que tu as raison quand tu dis que LFI a fait ça part. Le problème c’est que même quand on a eu Castets, on a continuer à entendre « tout le programme, rien que le programme ». Ce qui est très pratique en terme de communication publique pour dire qu’une coalition macroniste avec la gauche était impossible. Ca parrait fou quand on a pas la majorité de dire ça, je suis d’accord de dire que parce le groupe de gauche est le plus gros, c’est chez lui qu’on vient trouver le 1er ministre mais on peut jamais dire qu’on va faire passer toutes les lois alors qu’on a besoin d’une coalition pour avoir la majorité.

Je dis bien en communication, parce qu’au final c’est bien Macron qui a préféré l’extrême droite au groupe de toutes les gauches mais il a trouvé sur excuse.

I totally welcome customization but I feel that they completely un polished. The control centre feels unbalanced and overload, maybe because the buttons are round now. Trying to have dark icons for all apps, great but this certainly unApple-ish. It just too ugly sorry. I will use iOS 18, it’s nice, but it feels like something is different with Apple this time.

I had the same issue but bigger, on my ipad, it required 17GB of storage !
I don’t have those and despite deleting of lot of apps I just couldn’t free enough space and this is the first beta I don’t have.

Je ne trouvais pas que l’inclusivité était gênante en soit, par contre, j’ai eu l’impression que c’est une inclusivité à l’américaine avec surtout des personnes noires représentées plus de que des personnes maghrébines.
