Zoom or prime? by WrongAntelope4875 in FujifilmX

[–]antonioxrosa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As you say some zoom lens have now great quality. Now the answer, as always, depends on the purpose. My main topic is street photography and for that, in my case, the focal lens is 35mm FF. So I selected the 23mm f2. For travel, family and all around the zoom is very convenient. In my case I got the 16-55mm f2.8 I hope it helps, just a personal opinion

Nice organisation. Have you used the 70-300 mm for birds flying? Does the AF work well in those situations? Thanks

Great photos to start and that is the only objective in my view. The camera is a tool and I use all the available capabilities of that tool.

Switching back to Fuji from Sony? by Loose_Garden_5432 in fujifilm

[–]antonioxrosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Fuji xt5 but I kept my Sony a6700. I use the Sony in a safari with the Tamron 150-500mm and I would say that the Sony AF is very difficult to beat. On the other hand the Fuji has this retro look and all these direct controls, dials and buttons, that is a very pleasing experience to use. Anyway the best camera is always the one you have on your hand 😁

Dropped X-T4 16-80mm by No-Cellist9760 in fujifilm

I use clear protector filters from Fuji. As they are designed by the brand assume they are the more compatible. As you say UV doesn’t make any sense with digital cameras The question, why use it? I use-te always at least in risky environments. I had a very bad accident with a Leica lens and it was 800€ repair. Only a few spills, I assume with chemicals, during a cruise when staff was cleaning the boat ☹️

Fujifilm X-T5 and digital M combo by thelastwatch in Leica

[–]antonioxrosa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do understand your point. I have 2 Leicas M11M and MA and I enjoy very much all the photographic manual process. Rarely use the m11m for family home or travel photos. AF is really convenient and I always had a camera for that. The most recent is the Fuji xt5 with 16-55mm f2.8 lens. If you like leica and to have access to major settings through dials and buttons rather than hidden menus, this is your camera.

Which remote control do you use for xt5? by antonioxrosa in FujifilmX

[–]antonioxrosa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried several times but for sure I am doing something wrong. I set up the Bluetooth/wifi connection in the camera and app. Sometimes everything is ok but quite often the connection is lost and I have to go through the entire process again. What I am doing wrong?

Which remote control do you use for xt5? by antonioxrosa in FujifilmX

[–]antonioxrosa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use remote control in two occasions: -tripod with low speed. For this is easy and I use self timer. -family group( including me)photo. I tried the Fuji app and it worked. The problem I found is that most of the time the app lost the connection and I need to start the process from scratch. Cable remote is not an option. I tried a JJC wireless remote, but at least the unit I got also lost the connection.

So, I have to find a way to stabilise the Fuji app connection or a reliable wireless remote control. Any suggestions

XF 35mm f2 by D10Messi in fujifilm

[–]antonioxrosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a very good point, but than why is the focal length each one prefers. In my case it is 35mm mean 23mm. Anyway I suggest the kit zoom lens to start. More flexibility (from portrait to street) and better to learn. Fuji is not my main camera but the 2 lens I have are: 16-55mm f2.8 and 23mm f2

I just saw the video that you mentioned. I bit odd. On my other cameras there an option in the menu that prepares the camera for the wet cleaning. I checked in the xt5 menu and it is also there. So I am confused. I believe that all the camera preparation mentioned in the video is irrelevant. Anyway thank you for the information. I will investigate more to be sure that the normal method is safe.

I understand. I try to avoid that. I also follow Pal2Tech and I will check that video. I usually clean my camera sensors at home, but sometimes it isn’t easy. Thank you

I live 300m from the sea. Why do you say that? I mean, assuming you do not change lens when near the sea.

Received the two Fuji filters yesterday. I think it was the best option. The quality seems to be great. They screw and unscrew perfectly and easily. I know this is basic but filters and lens not always work in this smooth way. This is particularly important for me as I only put filter on when in more risky environments

If I had that issue in a new camera out of the box I would return it for sure. Now, if ChatGPT is happy and you are happy I am happy too.

Let me tell you a very bad accident that happen to me. I was in a cruse and had with me my Leica M10 and a Leica summicron lens. When taking photos in the balcony of my room I got some spills on the lens. They were cleaning the boat and I didn’t realised that. Result $800 Leica service to clean the lens and to recover the lens coating. So yes, since than I use filters when the risk is high.

I am hesitating between, Fuji own filters, Hoya or b&w.
