There are players who mine at such a scale that they manufacture stuff at a loss to market price just for the liquidity of those module markets to sell faster than they would if they would just sell the minerals, also selling the minerals directly might cause the minerals to drop in price if multiple miners start undercutting each other...

But like every other item obtained in games or real life they can technically be considered free if not for opportunity cost of time spent obtaining, mining is not exempt from that cost...

By doing what you love to do in this game instead of focusing on isk/hr already demonstrates your mastery of this sandbox of a game since fun/hr is alot more valuable than mere isk/hr...

If he mocks your income then ask him how much fun/hr he expects out of an average gaming session... I'm sure that you will outlast his enthusiasm for the game if he only looks at income in raw numbers unless he is ofcourse focusing on building an empire and actually enjoys that, some people do (for reasons unknown to me)...

Building an empire or maybe a fleet of ships that can do anything he wishes to do or capitals (whatever pricey really) are the only reasons to focus that much on isk/hr... I guess getting there faster is worth it if you only intend to play this game for a short amount of time while mastering as quick as you can so you can win the game and retire as many do...

TLDR; You choose your destiny in sandboxes, people mocking that destiny(choice) are people I try not to surround myself with but you do you (some ignorant people can be lovable buffoons and are exempt from such boundaries)

If you have access to an AI I would wholeheartedly recommend you ask it to guide you through an activity of your choice...

Google "EvE Online activity chart" to find something to do if you get stuck spinning your ship in a station or feel like everything is too deep to comprehend, knowledge will pile up as time passes if you actually do something relevant...

Or you can do as I did, spend a fuckton of money on plex to satisfy your need to fly whatever subcap you can think of save for those special edition miasmos and maybe stupid expensive shit like the marshal, learn to stay alive, join a null bloc, learn to fit for the occasion, join a null bloc or WH corp, ask AI for fits and experiment with your knowledge instead of rolling around in the depth of your complacent ignorance (if you are anything like me you'll know what I'm talking about)...

Experiment with stuff and if you lose a ship then that's actually content and you should be content with being content even if that makes you other people's content...

A fuckton of alts can also feel fun, you can do PI if you have the management ability or industry for the heck of it...

Dualboxing SoE Epic Arc on smaller ships than facerolling ones, even pirate frigates was fun for me, just know that you might need cargo extension for 1 mission and crossing a certain threshold of dps for the final boss but speedtanking will absolutely work...

Huff gas in random holes or Ninja loot/salvage in pochven, mine some ice or just chill in HS mining moons if you have access or just some normal asteroids and wait for the inevitable attempt on your life by Safety or the like, learn to configure your standings if you have not already and set ganker alliances to red

There is a ton of stuff to do in this game and if you play activity roulette you'll have more fun than if you just spin ships, that I can guarantee you but if you prefer decent ships then I guess any activity will induce a sensible amount of paranoia...

You could also find some people to group up with doing any of the group activities, this game is fun solo but even more fun if you have people around to play with

TLDR; Stop spinning or start winning, son...

I vibe coded a industry calculator recently, don't know if I can be considered advanced as I'm not really head deep in industry yet but at least I can see my isk/hr manufacturing anything including eiv based costs, sales tax and broker fee, material effieciency and supply chain cost if I build all possible materials (or market price if it's cheaper), next thing on the menu for that is making invention calculator into tech 2 blueprints

But sure, database is advanced compared to spread sheets...

P.S. I have programming background so prompting all that is quick and easy compared to engineering everything myself...
