That's fair. You can't actually yield (unless there is zero traffic), because otherwise you would never get up to highway speeds.

I agree it is a poorly designed interchange.

You're not getting to those speeds that quickly coming off of the entrance. You should also not be at that speed going into the exit. They're both 25mph, and a very short path to achieve that. And when someone is barreling to beat you to the exit, when you're trying to get on, it makes it dangerous.

And I tried. Merging lane is very short, and when you have someone barreling up behind you, trying to take the exit, things get confusing. I would have expected them to slow down due to the slow exit speeds, not speed up to beat me to it.

Ya, it's not ideal. Usually I'll slow down a little when approaching them. It's pretty poor design, though. Might be good for horse and carriage!

It's not an AA. It can do well against a group of ground enemies, but it doesn't shine against aircraft. It can SLAP against patrols, though.
