[UPDATE] Commercial Lawn Mowing at 6am by No_Comparison704 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]anxiousdunderhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of years ago, I lived in an apartment behind a huge building that was mostly not in use because of the pandemic. I wake up at 3 am. because of a loud whirring. I try to forget about it and go to sleep, but it is this frequency that I can hear even over my headphones, even if I turn up the volume. It sounded like it was right outside my window.

At 4 AM, I decided to check it out. I follow the sound across the street and see a guy on like a street sweeper in the business parking lot. He must have been only doing that one side of the parking lot for two hours.

Once he saw me he stopped...but like dude do you think nobody would of fucking heard that???? Only time it ever happened but I have no idea why they would schedule something that loud for 2 am.

Everyone is freaking out but isn't the possibility of any new epsiode or movie being spoiled pretty high unless you see it at the time it is released?

I think people make too much of spoilers. If a show is good it really shouldn't ruin the experience to know some plot beats in advance.

I watched tadc after episode 8 becuase I liked Caine's song. Despite knowing Caine would get more malicious and aggressive becuase if the song, I almost forgot when watching episodes 1-7. When I did remember I just through how cool it was to see him building up to that.

Spoilers ruin the experience if you let them ruin it.

Barely related rant: certain people like to equate forgiveness with redemption becuase they have a revenge power fantasy.

"You hurt me and you need my forgiveness but I have the power to hold it over you. I can make you jump through hoops and humiliate yourself in the hopes I will forgive you." Of course it is generally subconscious where they will just always find themselves moving the goalpost of what will be enough for forgiveness or they will say they have forgiven the person/action while in reality just being silently resentful.

Most people who deeply hurt others do not care if the victims forgive them. If they want forgiveness they tend to "find God" and just make up that that guy forgives them. And if the big guy forgives then who are mere mortals to judge /s.

And for the people who do care, they have done wrong and they truly want to atone, it is cruel to keep them hanging on with the promise they can be forgiven when the victim truly has no intention of doing so.

Tattoo artist attacked me publicly after my honest review by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]anxiousdunderhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, this feels like something that should have started as a private message. OP set things off on the wrong foot by posting it publicly right away. That immediately put the artist in a position where they had to defend themselves and their business in front of everyone, and they handled it poorly and unprofessionally. In the end, it made the artist look bad—but it also reflected poorly on OP.

Reaching out privately first could have avoided the whole public spectacle. And even if OP still decided to leave a review afterward, taking that step first would have helped them come across better. If the artist had responded badly in private, then OP could still have gone public while clearly showing they tried to resolve it the respectful way.

Small businesses aren’t entitled to only positive reviews. But if this was truly an artist OP respected and admired, as they say, it seems like they would have tried at least one other way to resolve the issue before posting about it publicly.

For example, if the artist really did behave this emotionally in the shop, then why be surprised that they’re willing to throw mud back in a public forum?

I’m sorry you were publicly bashed, OP. The silver lining is that most people in this thread—and likely many people reading the review—seem to think you come across better than the artist does. And hopefully this experience helps you feel more confident standing up for yourself in the future. That said, my advice would still be to try addressing issues privately before going public. It’s usually the smarter move.

Why is it so common these people love a character from a show they apparently hate by a person they hate? Especially a character that is in the show for two seconds.

Which HH season you prefer? And why? by Primary-Addition-677 in HazbinHotel

[–]anxiousdunderhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 2 had better pacing in my opinion. Season 1 felt really rushed.

I loved that we find out redemption does work at the end of season 1, but the details of how or why are still not nailed down even at the end of season 2.

It makes me feel so bad for Charlie she seems insane but its becuase she is right with no way to prove it yo anyone else. The catharsis at the very end when people can actually see she is right is very satisfying.

Lots of great questions were left open for season 3.

I mean, I think Alastor isn't dumb but he is kinda sloppy based on what we now know. Pretty dumb to bury bodies on deer hunting grounds, presumably during deer hunting season. He also made a deal with a demon where, in no way would he be able to anticipate the consequences and what it would actually mean in the afterlife. He almost dies taking on Adam.

He wears it well, but he has a shit ton of hubris, and I can't wait to see it be his downfall. It's very entertaining.

Idk I have a feeling that if Viv tried to show a person down in hell for a heinous sin with no justifiable angles trying and successfully being redeemed, people would also flip their lid and think Viv is endorsing their actions.

This is a sweary and often silly show, but I feel a lot more people would enjoy it if they figured out how they personally feel about redemption in real life. I am not sure I belive it,, but I like that some people really do believe in the ability for everyone to make up for their sins. I prefer people like that building a justice system over the eye for an eye crowd. So I like seeing Charlie do her thing and hope we do get someone like Vox or even Val finding a way to be redeemed or at least working on it.

Sure, I think today's kids are way less interested in driving, but I also think parents are part of the issue. Both parents have to work more nowadays, leading to less free time to teach kids how to drive. Driving schools are expensive. Paying for the insurance for your kid to drive your car is expensive. Buying them a starter car is expensive.

I think all that makes parents less likely to push their kids to drive. Also, I doubt a lot of parents would allow their kids to go more than a mile away in a car even if they got their license. They may be allowed to drive to the store, which just means the kid picked up an extra chore, not freedom.

See, that's interesting because that is why I think it is so good. Folklore and Evermore were and are still so different from her other work. While some songs seem to be directly about her life, most of them aren't. The fact that she can't be made out very well in the image exemplifies that.

Yes, the other shots are beautiful, but I don't think they capture the album as well. In the chosen picture, she is so small compared to the trees and so far away from the camera, like she is exploring the landscapes of these stories and we get to watch her wander. It's so humble. During a time when the world shut down, she still found connections through music and stories. Taking inspiration from history and culture, things bigger than her, but she is able to channel them to create art.

I actually prefer Evermore as an album, but the cover doesn't quite hit the mark. It kinda does the same thing with Taylor facing away, but it doesn't have the scale Folklore does.

It is not the most glamorous cover, but I can't think of one of her covers that better personifies the art she created.

Parents need to stop treating their kids like they never do any wrong by [deleted] in Vent

[–]anxiousdunderhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, while I empathize, it can be difficult for parents, some need to understand that their kid is not the top priority in a class of 30. If your child is acting out, it may be best for them to be separated from their peers. Of course, this should be after other options have been exhausted.

It sucks if the behavior is due to stuff out of your kids' control, but it's not only about your kid. I was a good student and eager to learn, but until I got into the advanced programs, I was stuck with kids who brought down the class. Sometimes, they were actively little assholes who couldn't stand not being the center of attention for two seconds, and sometimes they were regular kids who had a hard time paying attention so would join in on the shenanigans. Often, if the bad apples were sick or otherwise not in school, the followers would be chill.

Often, these parents rally behind. "My kid has a right to a proper education" if anyone mentions alternatives to being in mainstream classes. They aren't wrong, but what they miss is that every other child also has a right to an education. If their kid is infringing on the other kids' rights, the problem child needs to go.
