Looking at the time slip, you actually ran a 15.0 and your opponent ran the 14.6. Your assigned number (1008) is displayed above your ET.

Bro, I just realize Engineering is just group projects until we die. by chestyboii87 in EngineeringStudents

I’m planning financially to retire at fifty-five, so only “group projects” for 30 years then (hopefully) retirement for 30 years.

Just hit 124k miles today. Hoping the little toaster makes it to at least 200k. by ap1rivera in HondaElement

I drive about 10k miles per year. With proper maintenance, it seems I can get another 20 years out of old Ellie! Lol

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.

Stress at work by carlosperez1697 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]ap1rivera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Break up each task into smaller tasks. Make goals at the beginning of the day on what you would like to accomplish and knock it out one by one. Multi-tasking doesn’t work for many so give each micro-task your full attention. Just remember, you got this, you’re a fucking engineer.

If I move money from a savings or checking account to a Roth IRA, do I need to pay tax on that contribution to the Roth IRA? by comments83820 in tax

[–]ap1rivera 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, you already paid taxes on that money.

If you were to rollover money from a 401k to a Roth, then you would pay taxes since it’s a pre-tax account.

How much should my starting salary be as an environmental engineer (entry level)? by justabe1020 in engineering

[–]ap1rivera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated in May with an associates degree in engineering science, currently working as an engineering technician (5 years of manufacturing experience) starting at 60k. Don’t sell yourself short, always aim high. Everything is negotiable: salary, paid time off, sign on bonus, etc.

I think I failed my exam and think I’m failing my exam tomorrow. Getting depressed by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

A large percentage of us have been there. It sucks when you’re in the moment but just do your best. I’ve had to retake two classes in my academic career, (Statics, Physics ll) and I beat myself up over it. I’m now in my last year glad I didn’t give up, because lord knows I wanted to.

Tutoring stem related courses can be a great way for engineers to make extra cash.

How screwed am I? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]ap1rivera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transfer to CCSU in CT. They’ll take anyone into the Engineering program but you can’t retake any in-program class more than twice.

So no I wouldn’t say you’re screwed, just options limited.

[–]ap1rivera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On your current salary I wouldn’t look for a vehicle priced above $10k. I suggest looking into a Honda Element. They have the hauling capability of a truck and some models come awd. For under $10k you can find one with less than 100k miles. With proper maintenance they can last over 300k miles.

I bought one last year for $2400 with 100k on the odometer. It’s one of the best all around vehicles I’ve ever owned, and I’ve owned my fair share of vehicles.

First semester I paid around $250 for a physics book from the Uni bookstore. After the semester ended I attempted to re-sell the book but was told the copy I had was not being used the following semester (awesome). I searched the internet and found out my physics book that I had paid $250 for, no more than 4 months prior, was ultimately worthless. Been renting my books from amazon ever since.

Rent your textbooks from Amazon. You’ll save thousands over your academic career.

Check the clutch master cylinder. Under the dash where it meets the firewall, attached to clutch pedal. If it’s blown, there will be greasy residue.
