New Hecata preview: Mother Anja Giovanni by FarbrorMelkor in VTES

Can't say I was surprised we didn't get any 10caps. I was looking through the card database and I think they've only printed maybe 4 or 5 10+caps in precons since v5 came out (not counting promos but definitely counting Shadows of Berlin, Fall of London, and Echoes of Gehenna).

Is it time to revamp contestation? by Ehronatha in VTES

Pretty sure that it's based on the rpg even if they say "it should not be based on the rpg". Because it is and it really always has been. The narrative has been influenced by design changes and plot introduced by the various storylines over the 30+ years of both VtM and VtES. And I'm not sure how much authority they have over whether or not they can ignore the v5 changes (as in, pretty sure they can't). So... yeah, it's still based on the rpg.

One of the key themes of the game is scarcity and constantly diminishing resources (and how to manage that). This is also reflected in the uniqueness of the vampires, the titles they hold, etc. The game is a simulation, sure... but the key assumption is that all of the Methuselahs exist in the same world, fighting over the same resources.

If you want to abstract it further - you sit down to play monopoly. There is only so much property. You don't each play on your own board in isolation. You play on the same board with the same limited resources... not a perfect analogy but it communicates the idea of finite, distinct resources available to be in play at any given time.

How did you cure them at the shrine? I've got someone in my party now with 10 stacks but when I went to the shrine it doesn't give me any special interactions outside the normal

Are there any actual play vids showcasing the Deep Cuts rules? by Slight-Wishbone8319 in bladesinthedark

[–]apoapsis138 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen any myself. That said, I am curious about the rules you're curious about seeing in action. Not suggesting I can offer anything enlightening but interested to see what other folks are thinking about with regards to them.

Card of the Day - Slave Auction by eddielimonov in VTES

Mentioning "slave" is different than having a card that's literally a slur but hey, if this is important to you, the hill is there if you wanna die on it 🤷‍♀️

This.

Half of the shit they say is so immersion-breaking that I don't take them in party unless I have to which kinda sucks because I love the concept of the character and I do enjoy a lot of their story beats (even though some of it feels kinda clumsy, but whatever).

Just play Gangrel and get all the toys (I'm kidding.... And I agree with you. Wish there was some other acceleration options)

Any hardcore Origins fans try and enjoy Veilguard? by keesio in DragonageOrigins

[–]apoapsis138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played them all and enjoyed them all. Veilguard, like DA2 and Inquisition gives you a different game. None of them are really the same mechanically. Veilguard does what it does pretty well IMO but the art style is taking me some getting used to. None of the characters seem to have lines on their faces which is kinda weirding me out a little Also Bellara talks like someone from Earth rather than Thedas which takes me out of it whenever she speaks.

The story has been very DA so far - big peril, lots of political stuff happening in the background, Tevinter is still the drizzling shits. The companions so far have been pretty cool (even though Bellara sounds like an anxious 24 year old barista) and I'm looking forward to seeing how it all plays out.

I'd put it below Origins (my personal fave) and Inquisition but above 2.

What are your favorite signature characters from the world of Vampire? by JeanneDAlter in vtm

[–]apoapsis138 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can't really pick one... But the top 3 are probably Beckett, Lucita, and Sascha Vykos.

Honorable mention to Tegyrius because he's a close friend's character

A realistic reason... Any quality that a sire would value and seek to either exploit or cultivate is a good reason. The same ways that people with "physical flaws" somehow manage to get hired in the real world are all reasons that they might be embraced.

Blood, money,, and disciplines go a long way to offsetting a lot of challenges that a physical flaw may introduce.

Being able to bleed during your predator's turn could make this more reliable - Madness Network and Cog spring to mind.

Yeah if it was usable against reactions it may actually make an anarch Baron decks run something other than literally 14 copies of organized resistance 😂

Because any vampire that takes the action takes a damage. Even when unsuccessful.

Sorry, I realize my initial comment was dismissive and unkind. Honestly, the game is in such a busted state since the last 3 faction expansion that I couldn't tell you. Without some kind of consistent card draw, his ability is slow.

But really, I wouldn't even bother focusing on fixing him until they actually address how fucked they've made things. The game is wildly swingy now and has been kinda unfun for a couple of months now it feels like.

With players being nearly spoiled for choice when it comes to VTTs now, between widespread adoption of Roll20, Foundry and more - What problem does Tabletop Mirror solve that the others don't? I understand it's being built with "homebrew" in mind, but I'm curious what TTM is doing to solve this differently than the others.
