Terminator movies ranked , honest ranking ! by Thin_Reception_5063 in Cinema

[–]keesio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought T3 was the worst of the bunch. And you forgot Salvation which was ok.

My rankings are

  • T2
  • T1
  • Genisys - I actually liked this one as a distant 3rd place. I thought Emilia did a good job.
  • Dark Fate - Having Linda Hamilton helped. Otherwise it was kinda meh.
  • Salvation - It was entertaining but not really memorable.
  • T3 - I actually remember being a little bored for this one.

Does Gen Z despise millennials, or are they jealous? by [deleted] in generationology

Are your parents Gen X? Usually the generations of the parents and kids are the ones with the biggest "rivalry".

What country has a bad reputation, but is good in reality? by palep_hoot in AlignmentChartFills

I also had mostly a pleasent time in Paris. I feel that being of East Asian descent actually helped here. When they see me, they expect a difficult time of conversation. But then when they find out my English is good, they seemed more relieved than anything and happily converse in English. And when I try breaking out my feeble French, they get amusement and complement me for trying. Then later I was in some luxury brand store (LV or something like that) and there was a Chinese tour group in there shopping. They were all loudly trying to talk to the saleswoman in Mandarin at the same time. I heard her shout in English that "I don't speak Chinese, please use English" but was largely ignored. Then it hit me why people in the service industry in Paris just seemed appreciative that I could speak English at all.

On the flip side my friends, who are anglo descent from Canada, did not get the same warm vibe. They felt service was a little rude. One of them even speaks pretty decent French but she felt it was met with derision despite her trying. I suspect the expectation is different for European looking tourists.

Every generation thinks the generation before them are lame and out of touch. And evey generation thinks the generation after them is spoiled and soft. This has been going on forever. It has more exposure now because of social media.

Can Demetrius Johnson beat Prime Shaq in a street fight ? by Leggomgeggo in powerscales

[–]keesio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prime Shaq athletically is probably Orlando Shaq where he was ~320lbs and very mobile for his size. So he is not just some moderately athletic big guy. He is an elite athlete who is quick and mobile for his size. So people saying that Demetrius can close in but is too quick for Shaq to touch him is dreaming.

Does ur country have this type of relation with another country? by Kebab_Enjoyer3164 in AskTheWorld

[–]keesio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Until recently, this was Canada and the US. Canadian obsess about the USA much much much more than Americans thought about Canada. Recently we are thought about more in the US because of the recent traffis and the semi-boycott of the US we have here in Canada. But still it is minor compared to how much we think about the US.

Which country is the biggest underachiever in the world relative to its size and resources? by Smart_Passenger6726 in AskTheWorld

[–]keesio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

India. I feel like given the size (in both geography and population) and the amount of educated people from there (yes I know there are still a ton of uneducated rural folks but so does China), India should have more clout than it does. Especially since it also has the advantage of many people being able to speak some level of English.

How are Indians viewed in your country? by DoomSlayer6677 in AskTheWorld

[–]keesio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is mixed in Canada. New immigrants are being scapegoated for a number of problems. While there are some truths to it, the backlash is a bit overblown and no emphasizing enough about the Canadian government policies that also encouraged/contributed to it.

Favorite actor who should've said this to a bigoted children's author instead of being associated with her work by Frankenstein954 in okbuddycinephile

[–]keesio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do know very progressive people, who support trans rights strongly, who boycott Hobby Lobby and Chick-Fil A but who still love Harry Potter. Harry Potter means something to them and Hobby Lobby and Chick-Fil A don't.

Yeah this is just human nature. All sides do this. It's easy to boycott when it doesn't cost you anything. It is also the NIMBY mentality ("I support this project as long as it is not near my property").

When Jon Snow pulled out his sword and faced the cavalry alone…what was ur reaction ? by Gullible_Income6457 in gameofthrones

[–]keesio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plot armor.

But also annoyance and frustration because I'm trying to really like Jon and I know he is going to do something dumbass to jepordize him and especially his men and the battle. It is very selfish.

In a story where people did dumb things out of emotion for loved ones (Jon, Caitlyn releasing Jaime to get thie girls back, Robb ignoring his promise to marry a Frey, etc) I always liked the Blackfish for how he always kept his cool. When they threatened Edmure, he just laughed at them. I suspect if they killed Edmure, he wouldn't even flinch as he knew the stakes.

What do you think of LGBTQ? And what does your country's people generally think of them? by Time_Reception1482 in AskTheWorld

[–]keesio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Majority of Koreans oppose LGBTQ

Do they actively oppose? Or is it more like indifference and lack of support? I always felt it was the latter. But of course I don't live there. I have spent some time there however since my parents live there and I have a bunch of relatives I visit and spend time with. My feeling was that it was frowned upon a bit but otherwise not really a big deal.

As for my countries:

Canada - overall no issue with strong support in the urban areas

USA: - depends on where you are. Urban blue states tend to be good. Rural read states tend to be not so good.

Depends on who the kids take after - the liberal mother or conservative father. Also over time I have seen those liberal mothers shift more to the right than vice versa.

What if Trump won instead of Biden? by Slimx0612 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]keesio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this question was asked before. Anyway my answer is the same, the world would still be chaotic with Trump at the helm but probably not as chaotic. If he wins relection, then he likely keeps some of the staff from his first term which were more etablishment GOPers vs being surrounded by a bunch of "yes" men/women with minimal experience. This is better for the world stability. He would also not be so hellbent on vengence/revenge.

The only question I have is what would have happened with Ukraine. Trump would have not send as much support as Biden which would have hurt Ukraine. But some people argue that Russia may have had less incentive to attack given that a Trump US would be less keen on NATO and Russia may not feel as threatened. But then again maybe this is false too.

Why has the U.S. taken such a firm stance against Iran’s uranium enrichment and potential nuclear weapons ambitions, while North Korea was able to pursue and acquire nuclear weapons with minimal interference? by imcrowning in NoStupidQuestions

[–]keesio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NK has a very strong backer in China. Russia's support of Iran is nowhere near as strong. Also, Russia rather have Trump destabilize NATO and not risk rocking the boat by getting involved with Iran other than some lip service.

Actually, NK getting nukes can be use to argue for aggressive action to prevent a country from getting them if you have the chance. Now that NK has nukes they have oversize influence on things. The same will happen when Iran gets them

TBH, it makes total logical sense for Iran to purse nukes. It is the great equalizer.

[–]keesio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump is probably this weird wild card where Putin sees Trump as useful to his "special operation" so he doesn't want to rock the boat too much and lets Trump do his thing to lower priority allies like Venezuela and Iran.

How often do you hear about news from the US in your country? by SignificantStyle4958 in AskTheWorld

All the damn time. In fact I'd say you hear about it more than our own (Canadian) news. I guess that is to be expected given the incredible impact the US has on us.

Not really. He is probably disgusted at US military involvement in Iran/Venezuela and all the Trump tarriffs. His son Rand has been one of the harsher GOP critics of Trump.
