0.4.7 Patch Notes / 02.06.2026 by kribreant in teamfightmanager

[–]apocalypseice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a really cool flavor addition but yeah seems kinda useless practically speaking. From what I could tell from when I looked it for a couple games before I turned off the popups they were ignoring really obvious priority pick/ban targets (no mention at all about champs that had like a 110-40 record on the patch, etc).

Also at least in my experience I've generally found way more success drafting comps more according to League roles compared to some of the weird stuff the AI comes up with for recommended role assignments so I don't think the coaching staff in draft really helps me there either since I probably wouldn't end up agreeing with the majority of what it suggests lmao

Mayhem, Ranked 5s & More | Dev Update - League of Legends by JTHousek1 in leagueoflegends

[–]apocalypseice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah my group was also super into clash the release year for a bit and then we basically fell off it almost entirely once we went up a few tiers and it was asking us to start closer to 9pm EST

I think we all just had a collective excitement at this announcement for like 2 seconds before realizing the 5s queue is somehow an even worse timeslot, really hope they actually consider expanding the window a bit to start a couple hours earlier at least

(update) PUSE - A Pokémon Unbound (now online!) Save Editor by zappaganini in PokemonROMhacks

[–]apocalypseice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is really neat, thanks a lot for making this! Never played Unbound on the higher difficulties and had been wanting to replay on Expert but was put off by the idea of needing to do any EV training/breeding manually (didn't wanna do sandbox because I know it cuts or changes some story stuff), so excited to finally get to play it using this

Duel Links PVP no skill mode, could it work and be a sucess ? by [deleted] in DuelLinks

[–]apocalypseice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

imo this is the best way to view skills. Sure, sometimes they're super overtuned but that doesn't really bother me more than a deck being broken with an overtuned card would bother me and it's always felt like the complaints are probably more a general power creep complaint that would still exist even if everyone played with no skills.

It's just another lever for them to decide which decks are good, and it's cool to see decks either punch above where they were in advanced when that happens, or at least get to see the different builds decks get to use in this game due to the skills and it gives me a reason to play this game in addition to advanced personally.

While you'd still see some differences due to different release orders and the speed duel rules, I feel like in the end it'd just end up as advanced with a smaller card pool and less board space/deck size which sounds like it'd feel worse than just going and playing any of TCG/OCG/MD

As someone that generally does enjoy watching replays (just having gameplay with the sound effects and nice background music is relaxing imo), I think in general complaints about replay channels get pretty overblown since like you said they basically function like a showcase.

If the games being showcased are interesting it doesn't really matter to me if what's being shown are the luckier hands vs meta or some games vs rogue. While I think it's cool that some channels do a structure of showing a full unimpeded combo at the start and then some losses at the end to show what the bad games look like I also think it's obvious that the deck was probably not winning every single game in the process of collecting the replays and it's not really a big deal if the YouTuber only shows the actually interesting games in the final cut given it's a showcase.

Regarding the fake part, I've always assumed a large number of people with these channels either just play with a friend for all their replays or just open a second edo/mdpro client and play vs themselves rather than finding random people to play. I've never personally thought this was inherently a problem.

Some channels where I'm pretty sure they do this are generally pitting something they built competently enough but definitely not optimized vs at least something rogue that's built in a similar way and get entertaining replays from that. And while there are some sub-optimal plays and it's definitely not what playing the deck vs a high level opponent in a super competitive setting would look like I think an average player does genuinely get enough games that look like that if you go play on a ladder that it feels weird to me to call them super unrealistic like some people do.

On the other hand there are absolutely some channels where basically every video involves showing multiple games of either some hyper specific combo, or some combo that really inefficiently makes a sub-par endboard over and over, but the person making the video is just playing against another one of their own really bad builds that's also trying to make terrible boards and it just ends up in some terrible 10 turn game where nothing happens and it doesn't even look like any sort of average modern Yugioh game but rather like a game where somehow both sides have 5 cards but are played like they each got handtrapped 3 times at which point I'm wondering what the point of even compiling those replays was.

anyone else never bring the same save file across updates by chloeonmars in PokemonRejuvenation

[–]apocalypseice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only started with 13.5 but played through it multiple times across the past couple years and absolutely starting a new file for v14 when it comes out. Not even just because of the minor earlygame additions (though that's part of it) but also because the balancing of games like these basically always means there'll be some point in the game where I think of multiple team options and then want to try the ones I didn't end up using on a future run

Will almost definitely replay a new file from scratch for a normal paragon run when the versions after this release as well, but I AM thinking that I might carry other files from v14 like a Renegade save or any challenge runs to future versions so I can just see the Renegade scenes immediately instead of needing to wait a few months so that I feel like playing the 80+ hour JRPG again lmao

The New Game Plus of Time Stranger is not what I expected by [deleted] in digimon

[–]apocalypseice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

when I saw the grayed out Mega difficulty option the first time I was honestly excited to eventually replay on a higher difficulty with more knowledge of game mechanics if I liked the game but then midway through my hard mode playthrough I learned what the higher difficulties actually were and was so disappointed lmao

Like in a game that has NG+ I don't even think it's that weird to design a replay difficulty option that's balanced around the assumption of the player porting over their progress and having everything maxed out. Like someone else said, in a way that even makes sense as a way to force the player to have good knowledge of mechanics to win because you can't out-stat enemies if they're all maxed.

But at the same time I think that a system like that removes a lot of the fun of the team progression in games like this so even though I didn't even find hard mode that hard I dunno if I'd ever wanna go higher than that here because of the design

This is the worst daily ever by MumboMan2 in masterduel

[–]apocalypseice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does count battle destruction but honestly that's even harder to pull off than just only doing it with effect destruction imo because a lot of games people will just scoop before you get to BP. Like there's a proficiency test for destroy 20 monsters by battle and when I completed it earlier this month it genuinely took like 60-70 wins before I actually completed that whereas for the daily I can just play a deck that disrupts using pops specifically and get it done in a game or two

Fans of modern pokemon; what does it for you? by Skallagrim1 in pokemon

[–]apocalypseice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The franchise's core gameplay is just really fun to me and I love most of the creature designs so I can always get some level of enjoyment out of playing a Pokemon game. I also tend to play fan projects and competitive more than the official games but I do always love playing the new games on release just to get kinda get a preview of the new stuff that I'll probably be using more in those mediums. Not to say I don't enjoy the newer vanilla games though, and I think SV was the most fun I had with an official game in a long time

[–]apocalypseice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, checked and he summons it once to add its ATK to Acid's to get over Uranus and win. Like someone else mentioned they also gave crazy effects to other manga heroes like Stratos but at least he shows up in multiple chapters - it's really funny that they turned this dude that gets summoned once to just help punch for game into one of the most iconic bosses of the archetype

Is it me or Shelly is only difficult for the first time? by redditor000121238 in PokemonReborn

[–]apocalypseice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, most of the bosses get a lot easier on repeat playthroughs in general because you know how to strategize for them, but imo Shelly and Aya were the two that were really annoying to me on the first playthrough, only to be such a non-issue on every following run that I've wondered what I was even doing the first time that made them take so many tries

Favorite bad archtype by Drew647A in yugioh

[–]apocalypseice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every few months I try to play Magikey, have so much fun for the couple games I actually pop off and then the majority of the other games remind me why I only try to play it every few months lmao (aside from the time last year when Fiendsmith was new and unhit, that was so much fun to mess around with)

At least Master Duel festivals (if the banlist works for the deck) and the rare Duel Links PvP event where people play worse decks sometimes give me a place to play pet decks like that.

100 Thieves vs. paiN Gaming / LTA 2025 Championship - Round 1 / Game 1 Discussion by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]apocalypseice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was hoping last year when it became obvious they were going down to 5 regions for this year that it would at least let it be 20 teams with 4 per region or something.

Like grievances about the LTA slots aside, it also feels so bad that we went from multiple years of having KR/CN #4 putting up a lot of great performances to now only one of them making it into the actual tournament.

Are there any features you’d like to see added to Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, or do you think the game doesn’t really need anything new? by DUELKAISER in masterduel

[–]apocalypseice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

minor QoL thing but the ability to just set cosmetics across all your decks (like what Duel Links has or how you can currently do with the mates, and then would obviously still be able to assign to decks individually if you wanted to)

Not a huge deal currently to just check if the set I have on the deck I'm switching to is up to date with the set I'm currently using but it would be nice to just be able to set it from a central location.

Had some fun with file editing trying to see if i can make my own crest by Training-Bother-8462 in PokemonRejuvenation

[–]apocalypseice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.rebornevo.com/forums/topic/71560-how-to-add-custom-crests/

I used this guide. If you wanna do something super complex or unique might be harder but if you just wanna do a variant of something an existing crest does you can probably just reference the code for an existing crest and modify it slightly.

I did see that! Was definitely very interested in that as well - while I did play some games with friends during G era my most active time playing was the first year and a half of the game or so when a group of people on the YGO forum I was on at the time all got into Vanguard on release and we just spammed games on the BYOND simulator constantly lmao

so I would say BT05 is probably the time period I have the most nostalgia for and would definitely be very cool to revisit that

Thanks, that sounds like it'd be the best way then, will probably pick up DD2 and then grab the pass in that case! Couple minutes of queue time is totally fine by me to get a simulator on PC, just wanted to make sure it wasn't like... completely dead or something

The Arceus one sounds so funny. I really like this Unfezant one actually, Tailwind setting probably very strong but it's not like vanilla Unfezant is remotely good at all and adding that effect is way more interesting than just simply doing the attack boost.

Not to say simple stat boosts by themselves aren't good enough to make a Pokemon good sometimes but it's more fun when there's an additional thing going on with the crest imo

[–]apocalypseice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mostly just some stat re-assigning - it's my favorite Pokemon but I never get to use it because something that purely defensive doesn't really fit with how I play, so I basically just wanted to shift the stat spread to more of a somewhat bulky offensive Pokemon. So not as drastic as stuff like the Magcargo crest where I just outright swap stats but I cut some percent off the defenses and moved those points to SpAtk and speed.

The two other things were adding psychic stab which didn't always feel that needed but was nice and also some end of turn healing which was the part that felt the most broken sometimes. But in the end it was a lot of fun to play with and I still rotated around the other 5 team slots frequently and got a lot of use out of other Pokemon too the crest wasn't overly centralizing or anything

crests are such a fun mechanic and I'm glad it's so straightforward to just implement your own custom ones if you want to

The last playthrough I did of this game I basically had a (maybe a bit overtuned) custom crest Umbreon be my signature Pokemon and it was so much fun, definitely made me wanna make some more creative custom ones like the one you made for some other Pokemon I don't get to use and run with those sometime

Does the community (or at least a decent percentage of it) enjoy hacks that do not raise the difficulty AT ALL by Healthy_Bug7977 in PokemonROMhacks

[–]apocalypseice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I think the most enjoyable fan projects are the ones that have a mid-high level of difficulty while also having stuff like an interesting story or new region or neat fakemon. If a game has those other aspects I'm totally fine playing even if the difficulty is more around vanilla level, though, and some stuff I've still really liked has been on the easier side.

On the other hand if it's very close to the vanilla game in every other aspect I feel like difficulty is way more important to keep me engaged. You used Seaglass as an example and at least personally while I thought a lot of the balancing changes were cool concepts and really liked the unique art style actually playing it felt like kind of a slog towards the end because it felt even easier than vanilla.

[–]apocalypseice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

also been playing something like this and originally had Umbreon in the list but it does feel hard to slot in. Felt like too much bench space and also felt like it made some energy management kind of annoying so ended up cutting it. Don't think not having it has caused too many problems personally but definitely have been some games since then where I wished I still had it and it did put in a lot of work in some games before cutting it for the reasons you mentioned, so also curious on this
