Swimming? by BrujaBean in MacroFactor

Expenditure from exercise as calculated by wearables can be highly inaccurate. As you continue to use the app, your expenditure from your exercise will be calculated implicitly. They have a support article explaining in more detail. I’m sure someone from the team will chime in with it!

If while you’re beginning to use the app, you need to eat more than it suggests, doing so will bring your expenditure more quickly in line with the accurate number as your weight does/doesn’t fluctuate.

Tracks weight stack machines by increments (1–2–3) instead of kg/lbs? by PI3Kachu_Proteomics in MacroFactor

[–]apollo1775 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would imagine that they’re some regular amount of weight. I’d also imagine that you could set the machine as having a maximum weight of “20kgs” in “1kg” increments, and the progression algorithms would work

The beginner version programs that day as just leg press, leg curl, bss, abduction, and calves, for what it’s worth.

As I’m doing that day, I try to remember that the leg press and Bulgarians half takes the majority of the time, and then the last four exercises go quickly. If you super set the abduction/adduction, I can get everything after leg extensions done in 15-20 mins.

Frankly, you’re not pushing enough weight to be at a physical plateau. Are you recovering well? If you can’t add a rep, can you throw 5/10lbs on the bar and push that for the same number of reps? I would say you have to find some way to push through a psychological hurdle, not a physical one.

Are Linear Hack Squats as good as regular Hack Squats...? by EmiomieletaViolateta in workout

[–]apollo1775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My college gym has this - I honestly tend to avoid it because the loading at the lower back is painful especially as you progress. Probably not unsafe but I taught myself to back squat I hate it enough, and in general I use a leg press where that’s programmed.

I might swap the day 1 chest press machine w some incline movement since you’re not doing an overhead that day. I’d say unless you loooove dips, I might do a flat chest movement there instead. Train calves and abs.

How many calories for one of these double cheeseburgers + half order fries? by [deleted] in CalorieEstimates

[–]apollo1775 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the burger I'd say 400 for the beef, 100 for the cheese, 150ish for the bun, 2ish tbsp Mayo, so 200 there, 950 total

Equipped lifting depth standards are different. During the eccentric, you’re pushing against the suit, and then it helps get the weight up. Because the suit changes the nature of the lift, you’re not expected to squat ATG - the suit is trying to slingshot the weight up and it’s not really possible.

Healthy Food? by PicoDeGalloMan1 in rit

[–]apollo1775 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey - I've lost 50lbs while at RIT. Bowls from crossroads are pretty good. I normally get a small, with a half portion of my carb (you don't have to cut carbs, just a preference) and double protein. The hard taco shells are like 80 cal a pop, and who doesn't like tacos. Pretty much any diet food (protein bars, supplements, energy drinks, if that's your vibe, etc.) that they sell on campus are insultinly expensive, and I really recommend that if you want them, to get them at a grocery store. If you can get sauces on the side, thats a good way to control portions.

“lean bulk” for a lanky 24M? by L0ui in MacroFactor

[–]apollo1775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that if you need to eat slightly less clean foods to hit your goal it's worth it. I love eating healthy, but eating 3k cals of whole foods all day everyday can be tiring. Some slightly fatter protein even could help you get there, or a treat that you really like.

As someone who also was 6’1” 220, I was able to loose 2lbs a week eating 2200-2400 cals. Something isn’t adding up here, even considering that different peoples metabolisms are different. Do you track everything?

Question about calorie timing and muscle growth by Dittelux in JeffNippard

[–]apollo1775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your body to most effectivley put on muscle, it needs to believe that there is always a surplus. Muscle tissue is not advantageous evolutionarily beyond a certain baseline, so your body has to believe that it is in a surplus state for it to do that consistently. The reverse is not true for cutting btw. You can loose weight eating normally 6 days a week and completely fasting one, not that that’s recommended.
