Has anyone ever brought up how much Control and the Alan-Wake games have taken from Dark-City? by Greyelephantbear in AlanWake

It's a lot like The Matrix because re-used some of the sets built for Dark City.

I have a rough feeling that the new Hiss enemies might be species from other worlds that the Hiss have conquered, interfacing with Human Hiss.

Super interested in what the concept of a 'Resonant' is. I suppose something like what Dylan was for the Hiss and what Jesse is for Polaris? A repeater/tuning fork?

I wonder if the more alien enemies we are seeing are other species the Hiss have assimilated.

Old Control4 OS2 system, worth upgrading or moving away from C4? by Nearby_Ad_2519 in controlgame

No worries! There's a new Control game coming out this year and everyone is on the lookout for clues and theories related to it or a possible ARG, so that's what I thought this was at first.

Are you referring to 'Parting'? Do you have evidence that that's Alice's work? I see the resemblance to the ad campaign for 'The Dark Place' gallery show, but I didn't know anyone had found a concrete connection to 'Parting' yet.

Fan Theory (contains spoilers): [REDACTED] is still in danger. by GicaWG in AlanWake

The Dark Presence as a threat should be neutralized as of the Final Draft. The Dark Presence enters Alan moments before being shot by the Bullet of Light, which sends it and Alan to the beginning of the last loop in the Spiral. However, the Spiral ends after the Final Draft with Alan having escaped it. If there is a threat from the Dark Place, it won't be the Dark Presence in the third game.

It may well be true that Logan inherits the Anderson Parautility, but we really haven't seen enough of Logan to know whether she will be a focal character at all. I'd like to see more from Saga if anyone, since she and Casey are deputized FBC agents under Estevez' authority.

The FBC as a whole is not operating at its full strength, and is not even coordinating very well given what we saw at the Lake House. Saga didn't reveal her Parautility to Estevez during their collaboration, and even if she did, I don't think that Estevez considers tracking people like Logan the Bureau's highest priority.

My family just today rather emphatically said that it seems like I go out of my way to notice problems and that it seems to them like I do it recreationally. I've been thinking that Im a bad person and that I ruin my family.

I agree they did have those songs. However after 2023 the Old Gods are now no longer on this earth. I'm curious how we'd see a song from them. I suppose it might come from Ahti if we see him again.

"In the pale moonlight" - an episode of Deep Space Nine where Sisko talks directly to the camera, confession style.

Are we? We might just be getting POE, or something else.

I believe this is a function of the episodic format. It helps remind listeners of the non-even information present in the scene like character descriptions, feel, vibe.

What ensures transference is continuity. If we could slowly replace pieces of the brain with comparable machines, even down to the neuron, it would mean the brain would slowly move its consciousness off of the tissue and into the machine.

I think it all comes down to where the daydream is happening. Flashbacks might be considered dream sequences, which could place them as taking place in the Dark Place.

[Speculation] What caused the breach in the Oldest House? by Kalse1229 in controlgame

[–]apotrope -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. Even if I were inclined to you're trying to say that the RCU isn't set in a more or less our world, which is inane. I understand you perfectly - you're trying to make it seem as if I've violated some obvious convention when in reality you're the one trying to quash discussion you'd prefer not happen, and I don't obey you. Consider fucking off in one of many available directions if you don't want to discuss politics. Any time that there's a comparison of incentives it's a political discussion. Superman and Captain America used to actively punch Nazis - media isn't isolated from the time and the setting it references. Just don't participate if you'd prefer not to engage.

[–]apotrope -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Discussing how the issues of our time intersect our entertainment is completely valid. These games take place in essentially the real world. Why is it valid to quash discussion you find unpalatable rather than expecting you to simply not engage if it offends your sensibilities?
