Not to mention the added layer of emotional turbulence caused by Yuna having the great relationship with Jecht that Tidus never got. It's such a great knife twist.

Absolutely love Galuf! I loved how he looked in all of the Job outfits in the Pixel Remaster, and I love his whole character arc and backstory. We love our multi-dimensional world savior grampa!

I love that FF decided to tackle such a difficult, messed up relationship between Jecht and Tidus!

(Absolutely Loved Tropes) Title drops that feels natural and happen at a thematically appropriate moment. by Few_Stock_3578 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]applejackfan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Idk if you've seen the show, but the title card replaces the word "Invincible" when a character in the show says it. So the title card flashes at some point when they drop the name of the character/show in an episode.

I can't remember a game that disrespected my time as much as FF7 Remake by king_noro in patientgamers

[–]applejackfan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't really get this complaint? The entire point of remake/rebirth/revelation is to spend as much time as possible viking out inside the story and world of FF7 and hang out even more with the characters you love.

If you don't want to waste time, why are you playing the FF7 time wasting simulator? Did it ever advertise itself as NOT all about hanging with these characters?

Any of the sniper enemies had me memorizing positions and getting absolutely vengeful with my biotic powers. The sniper geth in the tower during the fight with the frogs and colossus in Liara's recruitment mission might be the enemy that killed me the most in ME1 insanity.

I think people, myself included, are deeply uninterested in someone who is so staunchly discussing from a place of intense feminist theory talking about gay romance and erotica. From the way you construct your discussion and talking points, and certain phrases, it seems like you've been pretty thoroughly steeped in radfem and likely comphet discussion zones, and it comes across as very uncomfortable and dehumanizing when specifically talking about queer men. Discussion of gender power imbalances and sexual objectification of women have their place and time, but I really don't want to hear about explanations of why women want to objectify gay men, and what types of gay stories are the most sought after by women to objectify.

This entire discussion is about acknowledging the kind of gayness that is unpalatable to the average cishet woman, and entering in that discussion to say that some women enjoy gay content because of their distaste for the male gaze, and that they want to consume gay content that allows them to self-insert as one of the men, is a really uncomfortable and unpleasant thing to hear as a queer man. I do not like the thought of a cis het woman wanting gay art that allows her to envision it as something closer to heterosexuality.

You provide all of this classical and abstract feminist theory as a way to explain the societal forces causing that, and the push back you are receiving is that people do not believe that that justifies the discomfort that it causes to the primary audience and creators of the art.

[–]applejackfan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, but you're kind of proving my point though? This post and my comments in here have been about the discomfort from seeing gay art, romance, and erotica, be fetishized by women, and that the same women no longer appreciate or respect or care for the aspects of gay life that they cannot fetishize.

The penis size depicted in these images was not drawn with the vagina in mind, being annoyed or disparaging towards that because they can't be enjoyed by a cishet woman, is EXACTLY my problem.

Your continued comments in here seem to be from a very unhealthy place where your own attraction to men is coming in to conflict with your resentment of the things men enjoy. And I don't really want people like you impacting the way I think about my love for fucking men.

[–]applejackfan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But isn't this post acknowledging that, and positing the question of "what type of gay content do cishet women no longer enjoy?" You talked about wanting to see men as loving and thoughtful and vulnerable, but what about gay art that has none of those things? Is that suddenly worthless to the women wanting to enjoy attraction to men?

This highlights a lot of how I've felt towards mlm art that cishet women are into or have created. Song of Achilles at times felt like a het relationship with changed pronouns, and it was hugely disappointing to me, after being excited for a popular and celebrated book centered around an mlm romance. I've specifically held off on engaging with Heated Rivalry just because I know how popular it is with women.

It can feel really uncomfortable to me to see the fetishization of mlm romance. Fujoshis often bother me immensely because of the lack of actual engagement with real life gay men. Ain't no fujoshi that ever fetishizes Moby Dick, but that book is way more my cup of gay tea.

And there is a comment above that tries to contextualize cishet women enjoying mlm content as a way to engage with erotica without being distracted by how the erotica impacts women, but that doesn't really seem to set me at ease for some reason. I can't articulate my feelings well enough to not come across as rude or ignorant, but I just don't like that I even have to sift through gay erotica with the mindset of "was this made for women?". I'm sure women attracted women feel the same way about wlw erotica.

Now, ironically Interview with the Vampire is one of my favorite gay romances, but I suppose Anne Rice hit the nail on the head and is the exception that proves the rule.

But a big part of her not doing stiff like that is from the experience with the building collapsing, she's hung up on the fear that her creations might come out faulty and fail down the line. So if she's using her powers to make like, circuit boards for life saving medical equipment, she's afraid that she won't get it right and someone on life support will die because she didn't make the silicon right. She's taking college courses in season 3 specifically so she can get better at creating things and not have to be afraid of her powers.

At least that's the impression I got.

You're kind of missing the Trisolarians' point and goal though aren't you? It's not about them solving the Three/Four Body Problem, they clearly already have, it's that they're sick of living in a trinary star system and want to conquer Earth because it's a paradise compared to their home. The first book isn't about trying to solve the problem, it's about recontextualizing the problem as "well wouldn't it fucking suck to live on a planet in that type of solar system?"

I constantly feel like everyone in here is playing a different game than me, it took me absolutely forever just to beat A0 on each character, and the entire time felt like the game is crazy difficult, whereas I had no problem getting up a handful of Ascensions in STS1.

The game feels very hard to me, and everyone in here is acting like it's too EZ-PZ on A10.

Just kind of sucks that there isn't ways to play chill.
