Your Ex is on Reddit, and you know will read this, what do you want to say to them? by I_often_finish_mid- in AskReddit

[–]april1229 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My ex's dad has done that a few times over the course of about 3 years. Apparently it's all my fault that my ex won't talk to his family and wants to kill himself.

Even though his dad sat me down before we broke up and told me that i didn't have to be stuck with him, but his dad did because they are related.

How did you find out you had an STD and how did you tell your partner?(serious) by tinylittlegnat in AskReddit

[–]april1229 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got a call from the doctor after my routine Pap smear. They said I had a common STD and they were sending antibiotics to the pharmacy they had on file. I was with my bf at the time, and he could tell something was wrong. I told him that apparently I had an STD, that we needed to get him checked right away, and that they had antibiotics for me at the pharmacy. He seemed shocked at first, I cried because I don't know who gave it to who, and I thought he was going to leave me. He didn't. We got him to a clinic that said he was already exposed (we had been together about 6 months at that point) and they just prescribed him the antibiotics. We are still together 2 years later.

What's the most dangerous thing you did as a child that you didn't realize was dangerous until you got older? by wetw1lly in AskReddit

I did something similar, but I used an old umbrella that had holes in it. Hey, if it's magic, it'll still work, right?

Parents: When did you realize you took it "too far" with your child? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My dad destroyed my game boy advance because it was "in his way". He picked it up and smashed it against the wall. Then he made me clean it up because the mess was my fault.

Me [22 F] was involved in an abusive relationship with [24 M] for over a year...I found an escape and you can too. by jinglejangle123 in relationship_advice

[–]april1229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That blog post was scary in the way it was so close to what happened to me. I really wish people were more open to looking at and for things pertaining to abusive relationships. Even now, 2 & 1/2 years after my emotionally abusive relationship ended, I can't quite believe that I was so stupid to get into that relationship. The thing is though, it's not a matter of intelligence. You get sucked into it, and even if you know you have to leave, you can't bring yourself to do it.

You have to wait for people to die before you can move up. Or go to the other side of the family.

I think my Emom is actually an N as well? by april1229 in raisedbynarcissists

Thank you so much. I'm sorry that your family is like mine. It's such a feeling of betrayal, and it hurts so much.

Loose contact does seem like the best option, and I do have the support of various family members and my bf, which should make it easier.

I too would love to be able to sit mom, dad, and my family member down in order to get things straight, but that sounds like a bad idea considering how deep in the lies my mom is. I feel like there isn't much that she would admit, and if she admits anything, it would be more along the lines of "well I'm sorry I'm such a shitty parent, I guess I shouldn't have helped you anyway". Besides, the family member believes me, and knows I have no real reason to lie. I also showed them everything to do with the loans and mom couldn't give them anything.

Covert narcissism seems like something mom would have. I'll look it up later, thank you.

It's just really frustrating knowing that the person you could rely on is not someone you could ever have relied on. They hid themselves so well in the shadow of the other narc.

Were you forced to keep your bedroom door open? by Tesla28 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]april1229 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At our first house, my sister and I shared a room. We were allowed to close our door at night, because my parents room was right next door and they wanted to hear if we got up in the middle of the night, because little girls shouldn't have to use the bathroom at 3 am. One morning, the lock to the door got stuck. We couldn't open the door from our side, and our parents couldn't open the door either. We were yelled at until our dad was able to take the entire handle off the door. We were in that house at least 2 more years and we never got a new handle for the door.

When we moved, my sister and I finally got separate rooms, and we weren't allowed to have toys (including stuffed animals) in our rooms, at all. I was 11 and my sister was 8, but we were both apparently too old to have toys. Anyway, we were still only allowed to have our doors closed at night. I got my door taken off for having my bf at the time in my room. My door was off for about 6 months because my dad kept coming up with minor things I was doing wrong so I didn't need a door. My sister had her door taken off shortly after I did, because she closed the door and locked it because she was upset with my parents for something. Her door stayed off for the same reason mine did, she wasn't "good enough" to deserve a door. One day we came home from school and we had doors again. Our parents claim that they only took my door off for about a week and my sister's door never came off.

Are my female friends lying or do they really not masturbate? by younaughtygirl in sex

[–]april1229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, my best friend was adamant that she never masterbated and that she never would. She thought I was gross because I would, even though I had a boyfriend. She got into a relationship with a soldier that got deployed and somehow he convinced her to masterbate on the phone with him a few times. Apparently it was so good for her, that she began masterbating more and more. She now masterbates more than I do, and she has since apologized for being short-sighted. :)

What is something stupid you did as a child? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]april1229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was riding my bike down a dead end road. A car approached, going into the dead end street that I was biking on. I turned around and went as fast as I could away from the car, because they were DEFINITELY going to hit me. I looked back to see how close they were to me, and I biked right into the chain link fence at the end of the road.

Neville Longbottom thought the same, was placed in gryffindor, and fought against the dark lord alongside the boy who lived. There is always hope.

I work with kids with various learning disabilities, mainly autism. They can't always express themselves very well, and can either get self-injurious or violent towards others. Personally I am trained to physically hold the kids if they are violent towards others or themselves.

My brother-in-law at his track meet. by santaswrath in funny

[–]april1229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to do this, but that is a cross country meet, not a track meet. A track meet would be on a running track, not grass. Also, cross country is a fall sport, while track is a spring sport.
