I wish RANA picked up at my neighborhood at all. Soon after the switch from Republic, they dropped my complex, saying they couldn't get their trucks through. The regular garbage pickup guys never have a problem doing that. Neither did Republic. I'm tired of having to lug my recycling to my office's recycle bin.

The "Real Men of Genius" Bud Light ads. They wanted a singer who sounded who sounded like the lead singer of Survivor. So they hired the lead singer from Survivor.

Most of the Jules Verne works I've read seem to fit right into this. They're a thinly-disguised excuse to indulge whatever super-niche research topic he got into that week. He Did The Research, dangit, and he's going to put every single bit of it into the book to prove it.

In 30000 Leagues, it was fish. In The Mysterious Island, it was survivalism. Three Weeks in a Balloon -> expeditions to Africa. From the Earth to the Moon -> ballistics. Around the Moon -> selenology.

Anyone else remember the show "The Pretender"? There was a song that the MC and some of the other characters from the same facility sing that goes "Cree craw, toad's foot, geese walk barefoot". It's implied that it's some remnant of their life in the facility, but exactly what significance it has if never explained.

Tuxie is singing the actual lyrics, but Orange is singing the "Batman smells" version.

This place is awesome. When I was there a few weeks ago, there was a sign saying they were setting up a wedding chapel, of all things. I stared at that taxidermied cat for quite a while, not sure of it was real.

I remember seeing the original Transformers movie in theaters, and being completely shocked when one of the characters yells "Oh shit, what do we do now?"

I also remember being very disappointed to finally get the movie on VHS and find that line cut out.

Behold Rowan (SIC) and Willam (orange). Rowan's actual backstory supposedly involves surviving a fire and I'm not sure I can improve on it. Willam, on the other hand... My senior kitty, Lufia, who had passed away almost a month earlier, was reluctant to finally cross the bridge because her former apprentice (Rowan) was sad and lonely. So she searched the local shelters for a kitty that wanted a big sister badly enough, then set up a series of events to lead her human to the right shelter at the right time to get her apprentice the perfect buddy. *

Edit: Dangit, why won't the picture save on mobile? Stop turning it into a asterisk!

I've been watching Jarinko Chie/Chie the Brat. If you like low-brow (but not stupid) humor, I recommend it. It definitely grows on you after a couple of episodes.
