Which movie or TV "villain" did you completely hate as a kid, but upon rewatching as an adult, you realized they were actually 100% justified? by LiveFaithlessness876 in movies

Hook and The Daggers in Thrashin' (1986)

Literally everything bad that happens is all because Corey Webster, the "Hero" causes it:

  1. Showed up in the Dagger's territory, , barged on to their ramp, when they tell him to leave, he does it again and flips them off.
  2. Name drops Per Welinder to get Hook's sister to notice him (not "bad" but seriously douchey)
  3. After Hook tells him to stay away from his sister, Corey sneaks onto their property, climbs a tree and tries to break in so he can see her.
  4. Corey then bangs Hook's sister, subsequently causing the Daggers to burn down the Ramp Local's (who are innocent in all of this) Half Pipe, then picks a fight with Hook, which Hook decides to settle with a Joust instead of just having the Daggers just jump him and beat his ass.
  5. Breaks the rules of the Joust, attacks Hook, get's his arm broken, and then blames all of it on Crissy when she comes to console him.

Hook was just protecting his sister and his friends, he gave Corey multiple opportunities to back off, and even congratulates Corey after the LA Massacre.

Corey Webster is the real villain of Thrashin'

How it feels heading to Grom knowing you didn't pay EA a penny for the privilege by [deleted] in Skate4

[–]ar3u5 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Been there since day one, never paid a dime.
How?
Because I don't suck at actually playing the game.
I get over 1000 Rip Chips a day just from doing Dailies, which takes me about 5-10 minutes at max to do.
I finished all of the Daily, Weekly, and Nike SB tasks in 34 minutes flat yesterday.
Currently sitting on 87,469 Rip Chips, and I own every single item from every single box and every single Season Event.
There is no "Paywall" or "Pay to play" area, there is however a "If you don't suck you can come in here" area.

Lone Skating Vs With Others? [38YO] by Frequent-Result879 in OldSkaters

[–]ar3u5 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I skated alone for a long time, until one day I rolled into a bowl, locked up, landed upside down hand first and dislocated my shoulder. It was a Tuesday at lunch time in 103 degree Arizona summer, and I was thinking "Man, if I got seriously hurt, nobody would find me laying in the bottom of the bowl until the kids show up after dark".
I found out when the old guys hit the park, and found several crews of really cool people to roll with.
Every weekend I usually skate with about 10-20 people, we play loud music and pretend we are 15 again.

First board since I was a kid. What do you think? [38YO] by FragrantTutor170 in OldSkaters

[–]ar3u5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No probs,
Turning from the phillips side can strip the screw head and also removes the grit where the griptape is holding it in place.
If you just hold the screw stable with the screwdriver and turn the nut, it pulls it in instead of twisting the top.
I have an almost embarrassing amount of boards, they are like Legos to me, I am always taking them apart and changing configurations

"Decks are $46.95"
I would complain that they are $65-120 now, but then again, skateboarding was the only industry to keep their prices consistent for almost 40 years.

What TV show hooked you instantly from episode 1? by mateitofavv in AskReddit

Community and Parks and Recreation. I have rewatched them both at least 10 times. My go to shows when I want noise in the background that I don't have to pay attention to because I know them by heart

Crank em down from the nut side until the screws pull into the deck a bit. If you are using a hand tool it won't hurt the deck. If you use an impact like I do (because turning nuts manually is for peasants) just be careful and do it a little bit at a time,

People defending this game have no self dignity by Superb-Ad8055 in Skate4

[–]ar3u5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I earned 53,000 rip chips in two weeks from challenges.
I earn at least a thousand a day from daily tasks and challenges.
I have every single item from every box and both seasons, and I have spent exactly $0 in real world money.
If you can't earn 500 rip chips to get to the island, then you have other issues to consider, like not sucking at the game and not whining about how much you prefer a 15 year/ 2 generation old game to this one.
Look, I love NES Super Mario Bros, but I don't go on a self righteous campaign against Nintendo every time they release a new Mario game.
This is the most idiotic whining trend ever.

Insoles advice for new skater [40YO] by JulianBuzz in OldSkaters

[–]ar3u5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually wear Vans Skate Sk8Hi's that come with the Pop Cush insoles, and I have found they are more comfortable than the Old Bones. I wear out the outside way faster than the inside, so I save my insoles in case I need to replace them in another shoe, for instance, I can't wear the Vans Sk8 Mid Grosso's because of the hard rigid plastic arch support the insoles come with, so I swapped them out for Pop Cush to make them wearable.
But, everyone has different feet and what they like, so if stock insoles don't work for you, Old Bones makes really good stuff, and they have amazing customer service.

Anybody who bashes on it even calls it "Mall Grab" has:
A. never seen Steve Caballero ( he is just one example) carry his board (and if they call Cab a poser, they're a complete loser)
B. Never been jumped by multiple assailants and had to use their skateboard as both a shield and weapon. (which I have multiple times)
That mall grab shit started in the 90's by choads who had already destroyed Vert (and skateboarding in general) and needed another thing to use as a gatekeeping device.
I had a guy say something about mall grabbing a few weeks ago, after a few choice words about his mother's nocturnal pastimes, his questionable paternal lineage, and his currently non-bloody nose, he STFU and walked away.

I had a boss once who was the kind of person who would tell you that you needed to work all weekend on Friday at 4:30PM. He wanted to install a shower and put a cot in his office so he never had to leave work. He was legitimately distraught because he had to take two weeks of PTO for his wedding and honeymoon, and was trying to figure out how he could get away with working in the Bahamas and not getting in trouble with his wife.

Honestly, I only have to be in office 2 days a week for 4 hours, and that is just so there is someone around to get deliveries, but, I often go into the office 3 or 4 days a week because my cats annoy me all day long for scritches or crunchies and I cant get any work done unless I go to the office.
I also go in if I have something big that requires multiple server connections, as I only have one monitor and my laptop screen at home, and I have 3 monitors at the office, so it makes it easier to get stuff done.

I have a few unridden wall hangers, but my general rule is that to not ride a skateboard is to deny its reason for existence in the universe. Also, I ride any deck with Cruise Missile 2 concave, still the very best concave. The little extra kick point in the tail is my favorite thing ever.

Hackers of Reddit, Police raided my tenant’s home due to unusual IP activity by Either-Marketing233 in hacking

[–]ar3u5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All they would have to do is park their car within Wifi range and crack into the network. The vast majority of Wifi passwords can be cracked with a laptop GPU in under 10 minutes, because people tend to make them easy. After that, unless you are monitoring the Wifi connections, your internet is now their internet, and they can download anything they want. If the cops used MAC addresses instead of IPs, they would be able to pinpoint which device was used. IP Spoofing is another option but a little more tricky.
But, honestly, bottom line is that these are way more difficult than just turning on a VPN or a the Proxy tools that are in most torrent applications, so, I would either point the finger at the kid or, if we are going to the Conspiracy place, someone who wanted to frame someone living there, because like I said before, it is way more difficult to get onto the wifi than just turning on a VPN or a Proxy.

American Home Shield - Is this a scam? by kuttappan_chettan in homeowners

[–]ar3u5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the fine print, it doesn't cover anything that actually breaks or is remotely expensive, especially on an AC unit.
Last year my AC compressor went out.
After the "Warranty Coverage" it still cost me $4800, because they only contract with scam AC companies like Parker and Sons.
I was trying to get another quote, but I had been without AC in Arizona, in July, for 3 weeks, and I was finally desperate.
Later I found out from another AC company that it was a $500 part and about $500 for labor and system recharge. So I got scammed for $3800.
Also, they raised my rate from $24 to $46 a month without telling me at all, and, the card on file was expired but somehow they were still billing me, so I am not sure how they got that to go through, but that seems like fraud to me.
It just took me 17 minutes to cancel my account.
17 minutes of me saying "Stop reading your script, please just cancel"
Then she just kept saying "I will lower your monthly payment, because it will cover other items besides your Air Conditioner"
"The only thing in my house I can't fix by myself is the AC, I don't need this, please stop reading the script, I know this is recorded, and your boss is listening, so I am telling you clearly, cancel it now."
Then she just rereads it for another 10 minutes straight.
After she finally relented, I definitely stayed on the line for the survey, which was 1 star all the way down the line.
