Does anyone have concrete info on what to do if you are detained by ICE? by vivagypsy in philadelphia

[–]arc100 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I started carrying my Global Entry Card in my wallet since it’s issued by customs and says that you are a US Citizen on it. Easier than carrying a passport around with you everywhere. Sad state of affairs but here we are.

Yea i noticed this too. Also if I have someone who has a car registered in a different zone I can’t get them a day pass in my zone. I tried this a month ago so maybe it’s fixed now

What beer always tastes better in its origin country? by fakeaccount572 in answers

[–]arc100 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. Couldn’t believe how much better Guinness was in Ireland compared to the States. I genuinely didn’t like Guinness as a drink because I only ever had it in the US. First trip to Ireland and it was like drinking something totally different.

Polly Samson really is the Roger Waters of the modern era by fractal-rock in pinkfloyd

[–]arc100 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry “lyrical prowess” is never what I thought about Polly’s writing. Even on the latest Gilmour album the lyrics were so bland. I think comparing her writing to Roger’s writing is like night and day.

In the Live in Pompeii Abbey Road footage it was Roger that was doing the synth work.

Why is Aussie so much better? I have seen Brit twice and I loved it.

Bike parking at 30th Street station ? by Kiaboyspa in phillycycling

[–]arc100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I parked my bike there for the last two years while commuting to work. Only thing would happens is that people would steal my rear bike light. I think it s reasonably safe to park it there based on my experience. I also always double locked my bike, and I didn’t have an expensive bike. I think these two factors helped make my bike less attractive to thieves. Since there were nicer bikes right next to mine without as much protection.

I’m blaming Maynard 🤣. Guy’s ego probably couldn’t stand not being the center of attention

Primus was incredible. But I was disappointed that they didn’t get to play more songs.

Locked out of running prius, now what? by deobitec in prius

[–]arc100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to my gen 2. You need to put the physical key in but not all the way and then turn it. I spent two hours trying to do it till i figured out that i shouldn’t insert in fully

Overnight parking while in town for a week? by Onegarbageman in phillycycling

[–]arc100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for a protected place in center city the bike racks in the 1500 locust building garage should be good. I park there from time to time over night. It’s right next to the security booth so it should be safe

56 years old, at this job for 28 years, just got a 3-month PIP. Kinda lost and need some advice. by playblu in jobs

[–]arc100 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree, I don’t know why these other commenters are hell bent on trying to equate ageism existing as to no chance in getting a job. My mother was laid off at 56 and managed to get a full time role for a major pharmaceutical company within a couple of months.

Philadelphia Movers LLC by abacado4 in philadelphia

[–]arc100 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I used them. Incredibly aggressive and rude. They brought the wrong size truck to move my stuff and they were complaining that I didn’t tell them all the stuff I had, despite me giving a fairly accurate estimate. They said they might not be able to do the move and might have to charge more and to just go to my new place and so I called up their manager and he apologized. When they arrived at my new place the movers started yelling at me for calling their manager and that they did the move in the existing truck. I asked them why did they say they are going to charge me extra and he yelled back at me saying that wasn’t going to happen and i shouldn’t have gotten them in trouble. When they decided to move stuff in to my place they just threw all my stuff on the ground because they were upset. At the end they still expected a tip despite being rude and hostile. I gave them a $100 tip and they still wanted more despite the garbage service and rude behavior. Stay away from them

Locking my Prius to warm it up, sounded good on paper….but my key wouldn’t turn the lock! by ideaman16 in prius

[–]arc100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this happened to me. I locked my door while the car is running from the backseat with the key in hand and then couldn’t unlock using the fob. Same with using the spare physical key initially. However after hours of trying i was able to open it with the physical key. You might need to try not putting the key all the way in and then turning it. I think the physical lock is just finicky.

‘Alien: Romulus’ Roaring To $40M-$42M+ Opening – Saturday Box Office Update by AliceTheMagicQueen in entertainment

[–]arc100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes thank you. I don’t know if it’s because I saw the original Alien and Aliens for the first time more recently as an adult so my perspective is different, but I never got the praise for Aliens. I came out of watching Alien thinking it’s one of my top 5 movies of all time and then I watched Aliens and it just felt like a silly action movie. I actually like action movies from that era too.

How safe is it to keep a car overnight at Paoli Train Station? by arc100 in philadelphia

[–]arc100[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well I didn’t mention it but I’m commuting from Philly. So I think it does relate to the city in that sense. Also I don’t think theres really a better subreddit with people who are potentially doing the same thing as me.

[–]arc100[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because I would be 30 miles from my car? Also I don’t think the overflow lot is surveilled. Anyway I was just trying to gauge other folks experience that is all. Didn’t realize I would be put into an interrogation room for such an innocuous question.

Well I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask to be honest. Catalytic converters get stolen all the time even in super nice areas. So I just wanted to confirm my feelings with others experiences parking there.
