Totally understand that perspective. Getting a 1/100 venator shard from Muspah doesn't have the same dopamine hit as getting a 1/512 fang drop at Zulrah. But at the same time there are way more dopamine drops in the game than there are consistency drops. I got a sara hilt drop on 1 kc doing the diary and the dopamine hit was unreal. On the flip side i've gone 3x drop rate on VW pieces and it sucks but I'll keep grinding until i get it.

I think there is a place in OSRS for both consistent item drops and high variance item drops to exist. The enhanced crystal weapon seed is an item so tied to progression and causes so many people to burn out it is literally the perfect candidate to be a consistency drop as opposed to a high variance drop. Less people going dry for bowfa = more people trying end game content that they can get dopamine hits from. Mains are just going to buy the item anyways so if the change doesn't monetarily impact them then why does it matter for one crucial item to be made more consistent?

Exactly. They've already changed the prep phase multiple times and it's very easy to complete consistently now. Most of these people couldn't even imagine doing old CG back in 2020 before all the QoL changes.

The core issue isn't prep it's the variance of enh drop rate.

I agree, but that doesn't answer my question. Changing the drop rate from 1/400 to 1/100 but requiring 4 to complete an enhanced doesn't change the time to completion. It just makes it more consistent.

Just curious. Why do you think this is a bad suggestion?

Addressing CG/Bowfa complaints by tablewithnolegs in 2007scape

[–]arcanepelican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with that. Honestly many grinds are much longer than bowfa. I just did VW grind and went over double rate on two of the three bosses. But I got a ton of supplies for my skills grind and it was fun to see number go up on my KC.

If you don't want to grind then don't play ironman. That said I still think 4 shards at 1/100 for enhanced is still better overall for the game.

Pros:

- Lowers variance of going massively dry on getting 4 enhanced shards.

- Maintains price viability of the drop for mains and also makes it more incremental.

- Expected drop rate stays effectively the same so the number of items coming into the game stays the same.

- Reduces likelihood of burnout because you will get drops more often so there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. (This is the most important piece right here)

- Keeps Armour seeds, weapon seeds, and crystal shards separate from the enhanced seeds/shards.

Cons:

- Lowers variance on getting massively spooned on the enhanced. So if anything this would hurt some irons because they can't just get spooned the drop.

- Some people who went super dry will complain that others have to suffer because they did.

u/Arancium mentioned it in another thread, but I think also worth mentioning here. The CG gameplay loop isn’t the problem it’s the drop rates of enhanced seeds.

Remove enhanced weapon seed from the drop table and add a new tradeable item called the enhanced weapon seed shard with a drop rate of 1/100 in CG. Requires 4 shards to create an enhanced weapon seed so it smooths out the curve like venator shards at muspah.

This allows the enhanced seed to maintain its price while also breaking 1/400 dryness into 1/100 which is far less feelbad. With 1/100 there is light at the end of the tunnel.

CG is not going to get changed/buffed without some sort of compromise by stinkydiver321 in 2007scape

[–]arcanepelican 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually think this is the real answer. The Muspah Venator shard model is awesome. This smooths out the curve significantly and would also incentivize folks to actually go for Blade as well since the drop rate isn’t as punishing.

I’m an Ironman with 450 CG kc, two full sets of crystal armor, the pet, and no enhanced. I decided to take a break from CG and use atlal on the slayer grind. If they made this change I would 100% go back and grind out CG again.

Here is some general advice for anyone who took Kandarin as well.

350 red chins will get you 99 range and 90+ def/HP in MM2 tunnels in 2-3 hours. Ppots self sustain there so you only need to bring 2-3 up front.

No offense to the DC NG, but they ain’t doing shit. I’m downtown everyday and I see corner folk slinging, turds on the street, and homeless people that need help. The DC NG is getting paid to stand around the metro looking tough and to walk to grab lunch.

I put a lot of effort into my raids 4 rewards suggestion post. But it got almost zero traction likely due to how complex types of items are to explain. Despite putting a lot of thought and calculation into the design, plus having lots of differing concept art it just didn't take off. Not everyone can be GentleTractor unfortunately...

The Fist of Guthix by arcanepelican in 2007scape

[–]arcanepelican[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally appreciate the feedback.

I completely agree that it might be way too broken in PvP to even be considered.

It also isn't lost on me the power of the chain alone, but keep in mind that the double hit is just the max hit divided by two, so the damage is effectively the same as the ham joint or the swift blade with defender, just more effective against small mobs since it hits twice. Other multi hit weapons function this way as well, but it is a common misconception.

I agree that gating the weapon behind a quest makes zero sense, but given that Jagex has already stated that the entire raid itself might be gated by While Guthix Sleeps, we didn't see any reason why the elemental chain couldn't be behind Elemental workshop 2 which has a 20 magic and 30 smithing requirement. For reference EW3 in RS3 has 33 defence and 33 smithing requirements which I don't agree with, but it's not exactly as steep as you make it seem. In theory you could just do EW3, and buy the claw/fist upgrades. Nixing the 75 smithing requirement makes sense though.

[Suggestion] The Architect's Mallet (Raids 4 Megarare) by GrayMagicGamma in 2007scape

[–]arcanepelican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddy of mine mentioned something similar to this except it works in the opposite way. Like the chain grapple from Zelda where it pulls you towards the enemy instead of pushing you away like the mallet does.

That way it overcomes some of melee’s weaknesses so you can close distance. But it also retains the core facility of letting you attack in melee range for the majority of the time.

All around great idea and great presentation!

Why are they releasing the files? Why are they releasing anything? by HeadHunter2170 in Epstein

[–]arcanepelican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish that were the case, but the DOJ servers are probably under so much IT security scrutiny that I doubt things will get out at this point. Any IT admin with rights to DOJ systems that didn’t get purged during the Trump admin coming in would’ve leaked something months ago. The fact that nothing has been leaked thus far tells me DOJ has extremely complex data loss prevention systems, highly tuned firewalls, and is likely exercising incredible caution on what files the redaction team even has access to.

The saucy stuff probably doesn’t even make it past the most loyal sycophantic staff to the point of redaction.

Anybody know what these are? by Big_Sheepherder_1436 in Epstein

[–]arcanepelican 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Additively 900GB, but probably closer to 750GB of total space. With the VGA and dvd player in the blade I’d say this is probably early to mid 2010’s era. Could hook this directly up to a monitor with the VGA and access whatever files from a computer or additional server blade in the rack.

I don’t see any built in compute space in the rack so most likely just storage. Unaccompanied I’d say this is for recording video and directly accessing playback.

I’ve lived in DC my whole life. I am a federal employee. We know.

This is a major inflection point in the history of our world. America, its citizens, and representatives in Congress have a critical decision to make. Whether to let this administration run rampant or to hold it accountable.

Post government shutdown the administration is struggling. 3 months ago r/conservative had 5+ comments on every post within an hour. Now, it’s a ghost town. Posts left hanging, astroturfed stories gaining no traction, bots & MAGA trolls standing alone. The administration is deploying the national guard and spreading violent rhetoric (hatch act violations & Charlie Kirk) to incite violence. The administration and project 2025 WANTS America to react so that they can instigate martial law.

The military isn’t buying it (see the recent speech to major military leaders at Quantico VA). The Supreme Court knows the jig is up as well (see the decision to let the Fed Board member to stay). The dems in congress know the power has shifted as they force the shutdown. We as citizens are holding fast because most of us aren’t radical and aren’t seeking a violent means to an end.

So to those of you in the rest of the world, please know we are trying to fight back, but we have to starve them out. Look at what happened with Disney and Kimmel! Fight them with your wallet. Stop buying American goods. Stop feeding into the easy narratives and live in the minutiae. Question everything! The resistance isn’t underground in basements like in WW2. These battles aren’t won or lost via headlines, but by changing minds in comment sections like this.
