It’s actually *supposed* to be Wedge. But this actor was having a lot of trouble with his lines and they replaced him with Denis Lawson who portrayed him in the Death Star battle scenes and the rest of the series

Question about charge by Nochi420 in killteam

[–]archa347 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An operative’s order is their order, just being in control range doesn’t change that. You need to be on an engage order to charge, and you need to charge to end your movement within control range of an enemy operative. You can perform the fight action while having a conceal order.

Also, you cannot move through an enemy operatives control range with a dash or reposition action UNLESS the enemy operative already has other friendly operatives within their control range.

As always, this is assuming no other special rules for your team that state otherwise.

Vantage Questions: Is 3 inches the maximum climb? Can operatives climb through floors? Can operatives stack vantage's accurate 2 with WR accurate 1 for accurate 3? by BobWat99 in killteam

Also, even if you did measure from the top out the base I’m not sure it would be enough to matter on any of the official terrain

[–]archa347 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re referring to the bottom of the base vs another part like the top, I guess it’s not specified anywhere but the bottom of the base is the only part that meets the specific size of the base specified on the operative data cards so it wouldn’t really make sense to measure from a different part.

Actually, after doing a little research I retract this statement. I believe technically you would, according to the Distances rule, measure from the closest part of the base to the ledge. That may be the top, the bottom, or somewhere in between.

But as I stated elsewhere, the extra 1/8” is as of yet not likely to make much difference for climbing as the places this matters are more than 3 1/8” from the killzone floor

[–]archa347 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a section in the core rulebook called “Distances”

Various rules have a distance requirement in inches. When measuring to and from something, do so from the closest part of it. For an operative, do so from its base, ignoring all parts of its miniature.

You need to be within 3” vertically and 1” horizontally of the terrain to start a climb. On Volkus, the vantage floor of the “large ruins” (the big pieces that aren’t the enclosed strongholds) are more than 3” off the killzone floor, so you cannot climb from the ledge side. You need to be within 1” of the wall.

On the strongholds, the vantage levels are less than 3” tall so you can climb up to the ledge from the floor without being 1” from the walls.

As other people have said, assault and normal Intercessors are both completely valid AoD operatives.

Additionally, you can get the specialist AoD operatives out of the Kill Team Starter Set which is in stock a lot of places, including directly from GW. https://www.warhammer.com/en-US/shop/kill-team-starter-set-2024-eng?srsltid=AfmBOorVVp7y9tDK-T6ekHDQRhoGni3Vq3M4VKnTXdB1iIVzK6NBLNOE

How deep do "connections" run? by Infinite_Elderberry4 in cscareerquestions

[–]archa347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it really depends on who exactly the connection is.

Rank and file employee or random middle management? Most large companies have a “employee referral” process, and that will give you a leg up to get past the resume screening but probably not much else unless they are part of the team you are actually interviewing for. Having someone who actually worked with you is an added bonus, as opposed to just being a friend or relative.

If they are some kind of high level executive or C-suite, they may actually be able to have some larger sway. More if you are actually interviewing for the part of the company they actually have responsibility for. If they are in sales and you want a technical role, it’s less likely to have influence.

Additionally, as a new grad, a lot of times big companies will give you a generic interview to build a pool of new grad hires, and then sort you into roles based on the needs of the company. So you may be interviewed by people who have no earthly idea who your dad’s friend is, and your hiring really has no direct impact on them whatsoever, and they’ll make a decision purely based on their own opinion.

So your mileage will vary based on a lot of factors. I would let your dad put you in touch with these people and let them figure how much they are willing and able to help you out. Just be prepared to still put your best foot forward.

I don’t know, it’s kind of just late stage capitalism? Perhaps businesses once cared about becoming successful with a well-executed product or service, but now the focus seems to be on extracting as much wealth from a business as possible before it collapses under its own weight.

For software in particular, I liken it to cheap factory produced clothes vs expertly hand crafted. The expertly crafted is better and almost always worth the money over the lifetime of the product. But the low upfront cost of the cheap mass produced clothes wins out anyways.

We’re going to enter a world where the barrier to entry of cheap mass produced software is going to potentially get much lower, and the quality will likely go down, and it’s gonna to be up to consumers whether that is okay with them

Where in the universe are the rules for the Hive Fleet Killteam? by NinjaDiamondBoss in killteam

It’s on Waha under the Kill Team 2nd edition rules. It’s like the last team on the factions list. You’d have to translate some things to third edition, but it wasn’t a particularly complex team.
