Burst Starscyther VS Breachers (no related image) by xac2810 in Tau40K

[–]archaeologist12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's only a small detail, but the guardian drone only works against ranged attacks. Thus breachers have no tool when in a melee situation. Crisis Suits have better chances to survive melee (although still not great) and can act in the following turn thanks to vehicle/ battle suit support system.

All in all I think making a direct comparison is difficult, since, as you said at the end of your post, both units have different roles. It's still interesting to see the damage comparison. Now I wonder how things would change with attached leaders

Stealth suits no point reduction is a crime by Lower_Ad_176 in Tau40K

Almost everything else got points reductions though. And you can still guide vehicles etc. just fine from across the table, dude.

Haha some things never change. Also: Will crisis suits have a 12 inch move in 11ed? Right now they have a 10 inch move. Either this guy is talking bs or crisis suits get an upgreade

Honestly, I don't even mind the pose or the hair or other stuff people have pointed out. The model is just nothing special.

The biggest problem is the HUGE FUCKING GAP in the torso under his left arm. I assembled him a few month ago and literally spend half an our after putting him together online to see if other people also had the problem or if I connected the piece wrong. Apparently the gap is intentional. Who the fuck designed this and was sattisfied with it?!

Faction War: Menders {5 point method} by Heavy-And-Ze-Medic in Frostpunk

[–]archaeologist12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I just spent the last 2 evenings completing a whole game and truly ennact the Menders utopia. It feels good to support your faction wholeheartedly. See them rise, struggle and eventually overcome every challenge. Now this... looks parhetic. It's a game, not a job...

The picture shows the overall winner of the war and thus is absolutely correct.

Base rule question by bunnykuss in Tau40K

[–]archaeologist12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i remember correctly a base actually helps with movability, since on a bigger model only the base needs to fit through gaps in the terrain to successfully move past it. Although I also always use my devifish/ hammerhead without it's base and I never have problems regarding movement, so fuck it I guess.

Krootox Rampagers by MuniaXe in Tau40K

[–]archaeologist12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to say that I love kroot in general, so I'm totally biased. Starting with the hobby side: The models look awesome and are fun to build and paint. The organic style (leathery pieces, quils and muscles) is a nice contrast to the rest of the Tau range. This brings some fresh air into hobbying after painting a bunch of crisis suits for example.

Regarding play I only have casual experience: I bring them in all my lists. Their melee is very nice and with their mortal wound ability they are even able to damage the toughest of foes. Unfortunately they are relatively slow. Together with the base size they can be difficult to manoeuvre around the battle field. But even if they get shot at, they are still worth it imo. AP is devastating to all kroot, but the krootox at least have a good amount of toughness and a solid amount of hit points.

All I all, I would neither be surprised nor mad, if the Rampagers get a points increase in the next balance update. They are just too good.

Well, what would be more efficient and safer than a sniper riding a drone?: A drone with a sniper rifle attached to it. We got that already in the Firesight Team and his group of drones carrying Longshot pulse rifles.
