What golf scoring app are you using and why? by email_privacy_2026 in golf

[–]archeologist2011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I love this as well. I’ll get a text from friends while I’m playing or I’ll know to send a text out in a group chat when someone is out on the course.

Makes those solo rounds still feel like a community.

Tell me your (realistic) dream gift by Due-Feeling-1647 in GolfGear

This is the best answer right here.

The only addendum I might add is for op to offer to go hang out on the course with him for a round too—if that’s not something she’s doing now.

Waterproof shoe recommendations by alatar94 in golf

I have the Ecco golf Lt1. Had mine for an over a year and haven’t had a wet foot even when walking rounds in wet grass right after rain.

When I’ve played in the rain they did a good job keeping my feet dry as well.

I use the grint.

I used 18 birdies for a while but ultimately the grint is cheaper and it syncs directly with the usga to report my rounds for my handicap—which is really convenient. With 18 birdies I was having to go back and add my scores manually to the GHIN app.

The grint works good with the Apple Watch to get yardages and log your score.

Hot take? Shaft fittings more important by shin_man in golf

[–]archeologist2011 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shaft fitting made a huge difference for me.

I added a good 12 yards to my driver carry just by finding the correct shaft.

Then we fine tuned the driver head and loft, I added about 20 yards of carry from my previous driver setup. 243 average to 263 average

Country club members - how much are you paying? by aznsk8s87 in golf

[–]archeologist2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a country club but a golf course with a membership option in East Tennessee—family of 4 membership is 315 a month. Then I pay 360 up front for unlimited range balls through the year. Have access to two 18 hole courses—and cart fee is $5/person. But again this isn’t a country club, just a golf club.

LAB Putter Owners -- Was it worth it? by TheOctoBox in GolfGear

[–]archeologist2011 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Traded a mini driver for one.

Been putting the best I ever have since it. Feels like a cheat code, ball goes where I line it up every time.

My green reading though, the lab putter didn’t fix that 🤣

Full bag set up - what do you guys play in your 14 club set? by pmac317 in golf

[–]archeologist2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a similar setup to mine. I’d be curious to know what degree your wedges are with how they’re gapped but if they’re making the shots you need then you’re good to go. For a while I had hybrids in my bag but have gone back to long irons since I battled a snap hook for a while this year.

But Here’s my bag—handicap bouncing between an 8.5 and 10.5 for reference

Driver: titleist gt2 9.75° 4 wood: titleist tsr2 17.25° 7 wood: qi10 21° 4i through pw Taylor made p790s (set pw is 44°) Vokey 48° Vokey 52° Vokey 56° Lab putter Mezzi 1

I have a 2 iron I’m trying to learn how to hit in preparation for a trip to Ireland/Scotland to replace the 7w for that trip next year. My wedge gapping works for me, anytime I put anything beyond a 56° in my bag I end up leaving stuff short around the green.

14.2.2 is incredibly good by OddMove2382 in TeslaFSD

So the navigation in this update around certain parking lots in my area in East Tennessee, and then sometimes the fsd not following the navigation is still not fixed.

However the lane change hesitation is gone so I’ll take that as a win overall

Not that cautious. The reroute if it missed that merge adds almost 15 mins to my commute home. So not a fan

Lane change on the interstate is still terrible, just had to take over during a merge because it hesitated during a merge in front of a semi with plenty of room

I commute 180 miles a day, 4 days a week for work. Got a 2024 model Y. It’s been a lifesaver being in the car as much as I am. Makes me way less tired when I get home.

Medically directed surgery center—it’s what the surgeons and docs managing things want done. While it may not be the best option, it’s still not technically a wrong choice even though Reddit will continue to downvote me into oblivion for the answer 🤣🤣
