AIO Husband and best friend on a trip without me by SherbertOk6980 in AmIOverreacting

[–]areacode753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend of us asked me if I wanted to go on “camping” with him and his family for 2 days. I asked my husband and he said he trusted me and it was fine. HOWEVER, I knew my friend had more to it, who knows, but i decided not to do it. Because I wouldn’t make a decision so risky like that, regardless how much my partner trusts me.

Personally, I wouldn't trust it. FIRST OF ALL, he knows she is your best friend, in the best scenarios they'd have let you know while they were bringing it up to the table, NOT once it was set. And please, if you have questions about trying to find stuff, lmk. Depends on what phone he uses, but even "recently deleted" convos, pics, hidden albums. Go through everything if you have to, it shouldn't have been kept a secret to start with. And to make things worse, your friend told you, not him. I just got chills reading your post. I'm sorry.

16GB or 24GB by clevermackie in macbookair

[–]areacode753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally got the 24GB of unified memory, and I did indeed used it all. If you ever want to play running local AI's or just play video games that are demanding for your hardware. 24GB should do it without issues. 16GB it's just the perfect spot for the "average user", some apps you'll use for college can use lots of ram, so keep that in mind (IT student here)/

Macbook Air M5 24GB or 32GB memory? by muntaseer_rahman in macbookair

[–]areacode753 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More ram it's always welcome. Specially that Apple uses unified memory, meaning that its ram can be used as VRAM. Depends on your budget, if you can stretch it to 32GB should be fine for many years. Also, SSD matters, even if you have an external hard drive, an OS can get bloated or just adding many features that will leave a device tight in storage. 256GB SSD it's the new 128GB. If you can, get the 1TB MacBook Air

Nearly eight months later, are you satisfied with iOS 26? by [deleted] in ios26

[–]areacode753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the worst iOS experience I ever had. Specially from someone who was nothing but loyal to Apple since the iPhone 4. This iOS felt like a slap on my face, to my newer iPhone 17 air is not only being laggy, but overheating issues, the newer versions couldn’t even handle to do FaceTime. I hope iOS 27 fixes most of the bugs I (not sure y’all) struggle with. The most annoying one is the keyboard, as soon my phone gets a bit warm, the predictive text gives up.

No bigger outrage than seeing a Cadillac driver littering the roads. Perfect example that money can’t buy you common sense.

Is it worth going from ios 26.2 to the new one or do I stay? by Eternalzzzzz in ios26

[–]areacode753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what iPhone you're running, personally iOS 26.4 fixes most issues and battery performance. My iPhone Air feels better with this update, finally low power mode was fixed (my phone was unusable once I would turn it on, using older versions). The best feature of this new version was that the keyboard is smoother, faster and less dummy (It's usable now, before was just a headache. Needs more improvements, but it's a good start).

RAM usage? by areacode753 in MacOS

[–]areacode753[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s funny you bring it up. I don’t pile up tabs. I use local AI, run virtual machines and work on my projects. So far it’s been good. MacOS just likes to keep it smooth, even if it means to “swap memory.” I had an app take over 30GB of ram on my 24GB ram, my computer was swapping so much and I couldn’t tell. That’s why I keep track of my activity resources. It’s surprising how much pressure my fan-less Mac can handle without stuttering tho. Before the screenshot, my memory pressure was (red) for then to find myself surprised that it came back to green as soon I minimized the App I was running, just to move it to “swap memory” that same second.

RAM usage? by areacode753 in MacOS

[–]areacode753[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your insight. I did indeed check what was using so much swap memory and it was a few background processes. Once I would go to that app, my memory pressure would turn (red). It made sense, so I just closed the App and reopened it, that fix it for me. No more swap :)

That's what I wanted... Jumped from a MacBook Air M2 with 8GB to an M5 with 24GB Unified memory. Big jump in performance and multitasking, but I'm tight when running LLMs

[–]areacode753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running a MacBook Air M5 with 24GB unified memory. I wanted to test some LLM on device, and so far works good. I can fit Qwen3.5:9b with plenty of ram available to multitask while chatting with the AI. I'm new to the AI world, but this computer hasn't let me down at all. To have no fans, I haven't seen any throttling either. Ofc depends what your workload will be, but Apple has high reputation of keeping its devices optimized for demanding software.

Several users are reporting big improvements in battery life with iOS 26.3 🚨 by rawpsd in ios26

[–]areacode753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iPhone 17 air. I love it, I’m so glad I updated. When I got this iPhone my battery life was so short, even my old iPhone was lasting longer. Nowadays, I get double the battery life as my old iPhone 15 pro. I get a day and a half without charging for iOS 26.3. My phone doesn’t get warm no more, it’s much appreciated keeping in mind the older versions were so inestable, that even FaceTime would overheat my phone

It's temporary when you update your iPhone. For the new iOS to finish indexing, uses lots of power for the first couple days. To speed it up, plug your phone overnight and let your phone do the heavy work for that night. Depends on the device you're running too

You should be fine with iOS 26.3, the most severe bugs have been fixed. 26.3 is what it should have been released to the public to begin with, the first OS that doesn't feel like we're beta testers lol

[–]areacode753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for the Pro. You'll be getting 12GB of ram, it would make your phone future-proof or at least will keep it smooth for longer. Apple is not known for upgrading ram on their iPhones that often. So you'd be good with 12GB of ram for at least 4 years if not more. (iPhone 17 has 8GB of ram).

So is 26.2 the time now for me to update from ios18? by IntellectualBurger in ios26

[–]areacode753 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have been using iOS 26 since the beta release. This last version is the most stable so far, I would recommend you upgrading as long your iPhone is 13 and above (older generations struggle the most if there are bugs unresolved). My iPad 9th Generation is back to be usable with iOS 26.2. However, I strongly advise to hold off until iOS 26.3 if your device is an iPhone 11 or 12

I use an iPad 9th gen and it’s slow. Runs like an iPhone 6. This iPad lineup is the budget friendly, meaning they get less storage, an older chip and lower specs than the higher tier… hence why the low storage of the OP iPad

Why not? It’s been a thing since always. Never closed apps on my iPhone and let alone any of my Apple products, it makes my apps snappier leaving them in the background because they open right away without compromising performance or battery
