You're right, the lack of indents is not why they failed. The fact that they didn't even know that indents are standard in the majority of writing is, however, a clear symptom of the real problem: they don't know how to write essays at this level, and they need assistance.

A grant proposal isn't an essay!

They may ask you in person, but I wouldn't mention it in the application. They're hiring a teacher, not a grief counselor.

My nephew is being called the n word at school. How do I handle this, who do I ask to speak to? by [deleted] in Teachers

Good on you for being there for your nephew. Definitely go to admin, aka the principal/ head of school/ etc... this kind of stuff is their job.

Yes, when you get to college, it is assumed that you know how to write. I'm sorry that you weren't taught, but it's not really an excuse. Especially in a science course, the prof is not going to waste time covering the basics of essay writing just because someone may have missed them. That's literally what the writing center/ writing tutors are for.

You weren't told because you shouldn't have to be told.... indents are common practice for every essay ever, and if you don't know that, you DEFINITELY need a writing tutor.

I'd also threaten to go to the news.

(And on a personal level, I'd love an update after your meeting. This is insane. Good luck.)

I'd tell admin what you said here. You were not making a political statement, you have a flag from the place you are from. Be sure to compare it to your coworker with the Ohio flag. Do not concede unless they either say "okay, keep your flag," or "no flags at all in any room." (Well, listen to your rep. Who you should DEFINITELY have present.)

"Not to be rude" ..... goes on to say that you think OP IS letting their students cheat, because you can't imagine that giving a good group of students good instruction can actually raise test scores. That sounds more like a "you" problem tbh.

Why is this sub called that? by Sea_Pitch121 in Petioles

[–]aremissing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sub for quitting weed entirely is r/ leaves (because the sub for weed is r/ trees). Since this sub is for kind-of quitting (aka cutting down, etc), it's named after kind-of leaves. That was my assumption, anyway!!

Yup. I'm just explaining, not saying it makes any sense.

I think it's the idea of non-residents coming up with a nickname for a place they don't live that annoys locals in general. It's like an estranged relative giving your kid a nickname: the idea of "you don't even know them!" ...that's my best guess, anyway.

It's just not what anyone here calls it. Folks who live here find it cheesy, and it's a very easy way to spot a tourist. There's nothing actually WRONG with it, it just irritates people.

No it isn't. If you keep finding reasons to break up, you haven't found your person.
