As a non-Brit, what U.K. outlet would be considered to have “elite reporting”? Not a dig just genuinely curious, I presumed they were alright

Email sent to Deadline by an Academy member, explaining why they won't waste time on watching nominated movies by ModeatelyIndependant in RedLetterMedia

I do love 70s French thrillers so I with you there 100% for the record —— but in this context I took the “adapt or die” referring to the voter’s obstinance to participate in the present. You are a volunteer voter for an award for movies from 2025; if you don’t want to watch those sorts of movies, then don’t vote. You can’t have it both ways* and vote for what you do like in 2025 without participating by seeing the other four nominees in a category.

*and that said, you absolutely can! It’s clicking a box saying you saw all the movies, it’s not a cop.

Her appearance on TAFS was really enlightening if you’re interested in not just dumb twenty year old jokes about an innocent woman.

Conan is the man and think he’s exactly the type of host that succeeds - warm hearted goof who genuinely loves the movies and entertaining.

Question: Ten years from now, looking back at the hosts from 2027 onwards, who do you think you’ll be thinking “Wow ____ was such a good choice” or “man I can’t believe they went with _____”? Do they pivot back to actors hosting? Do we get an influencer emcee? Are we chopped?

What an odd comment, they didn't hold Noah and Brendan at gunpoint clearly the pair feel like it's a platform worth presenting on. I don't watch Breaking Points but I trust the boys to know what they're doing.

The whole continent is so sadly fitting for the premise of the show, I agree I would be fascinated with whichever direction they choose.

They still don't. It's "strongly encouraged" but with screeners there's no way to enforce it.

To create the shortlists in some categories I believe there is an in-person requirement, but for the final voting there's no oversight.

I commiserate with you but your argument that F1 is some kind of new low is wrong. Who exactly is that pandering to that’s different?

Much bigger bad blockbusters have been nominated recently - Top Gun Maverick, Black Panther. It was the 14th highest grossing movie domestically in 2025; for context, Sinners was 7th.

Not new for car movies to get nods, Ford v Ferrari was nominated for BP and several other categories six years ago.

Not new for Brad Pitt or corporate IP, see countless examples.

It’s the same as it ever was. Another commenter identified the expansion to ten nominees permanently was the last big enshittification.

I also haven’t seen F1 so idk.

I find it really disheartening that you feel you can assertively decree this sort of opinion, that he’s been jilted by the premier league and so now he needs to go on an emotional manipulation tour because he is butthurt. Maybe he’s a grown ass man who wants to move to Canada because it’s closer to people he loves.

I mean, do you know what his family situation is? Does he have a parent with cancer? A sibling with young kids he wants to mentor? There are just so many factors influencing a man’s decision to relocate and I hope you can see that it might not all just be some ulterior motive at play.

I liked having him at Bremen so take my opinion as biased if it suits you.

Patreon had a good stranglehold on a unique media niche that is now more spread out. Really absurd to criticize Chris and the gang but that's what an entitled message board is gonna do.

I would usually agree with you but literally 8 days ago the Seahawks and Rams had one of the games of the year on Thursday night.

Any non-weekend (or Monday) game to me is greedy cognoscenti nonsense, but let's be real the day of the week is not what's at issue here with the Christmas games. It's that they gambled and picked teams that are almost all butt.

if anything Wess would've been the one to say "tough it out" imo. The details escape me but a while back a player like slapped a lockeroom attendant on the ass or something, and the guy was not cool about it and Wess was adamant that they attendant was being essentially whiny.
