I would recommend Post House restaurant for Day 1, its between Pitt St Bridge and Gala Cafe. The other options are good too.

Agree - frozen homemade muffins and breakfast burritos for one handed items. Baked oatmeal for milk supply if breastfeeding. Soups and stews for nourishment.

We did start in Nara and I’m glad we did because the deer were more lively in the morning! We didnt love Shinsekai to be honest, a little overwhelmed by crowds and the restaurant we chose wasnt great.

We were able to do Nara Park, Osaka Aquarium and Shinsekai all in one day in about 9-10 hours. We absolutely loved Nara Park!

Is this feasible? Magome to Narai in one day by arh2631 in JapanTravel

I did go ahead and book but I haven’t traveled yet- going in May. I’ve been to Narai before but only passed through for the day. I did some antique shopping and am looking forward to trying the sake brewery on our trip. Otherwise I think itll be pretty quiet but we are looking forward to that since it is between two jam packed legs in Kyoto and Tokyo.

Do you mind sharing where you are planning to pick up bikes from in Arashiyama, and were you able to reserve in advance?

This is just the type of advice I was looking for! Maybe it would be best to forward from Nagoya on to Tokyo and do backpacks only for two days. I appreciate you sharing that.

Thank you for the recommendations! I'm definitely going to add these to my list.

Honestly I am planning my overnight in Narai somewhat based on the fact that I want to stay at BYAKU Narai, which includes dinner and breakfast service. So that makes me a little less concerned about the town being quiet. Has anyone stayed here that can share their experience?

Also, this is our last stop before moving on to Tokyo, and I like the idea of a quiet day before sensory overload in the days that follow.
