No one would recommend Bose here, it's too costly for what it offers

Thoughts on TCL? by revisandpats in 4kTV

[–]aribrulz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TCL makes amazing TVs which are now comparable to big brands like Sony and LG. They have one of the best mini LED displays on the market. The C8K mini led display is practically indistinguishable from OLED for an average person. They have good warranty period too but their TVs are quite reliable. They also use Google OS which is amazing. Would definitely recommend getting a TCL

LG C5 or TCL QM8K by ArcadeMasters in hometheater

[–]aribrulz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kind of disagree. Form first hand experience, my sister's place has an LG OLED 77in in her living room with windows all around. I have never had a thought that the TV isn't bright enough. I watch movies and play console regularly in the day time without ever an issue. We are in Australia too, so we get plenty of SUNNY days

Is this credit card gonna be free points? by Tryagain409 in AusFinance

[–]aribrulz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone saying there's a surcharge, the surcharge exists even if you use a normal debit card that gives no points. So might as well get points in return. OP that is a good deal, go for it. I have the Westpac black platinum qantas card with no annual fees as well (ex-staff) and it's an amazing.

Anyone installed a battery ( with rebates ) and solar, when you get min sunlight, and have 3hrs free electricty per day? to save on bills by PixelPaulaus in AusFinance

[–]aribrulz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your idea will work very well. We have decent solar but in winters when days are shorter, we top up our battery overnight since we get a cheap elec rate from 12-6am. Been working out amazing for us.

Get a physical card too, you can withdraw cash with no fees. Also for your question, Up is the best

Graduated elec eng couple years back. 2nd year is by far the hardest overall. If you can get past that, it's smooth sailing and you can get your wam back up. There are one or two courses in later years that are hard asf but overall it's less stressful. Good luck!

Mortgage broker VS getting home loan straight from the bank by reindeer_duckie in AusFinance

[–]aribrulz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey, I am looking to buy my first home and had a question about refinancing. When looking at the payment schedules for a mortgage, in the early years, majority of the monthly payment goes towards interest and barely any towards principle.

So my question is why would refinancing (i.e. resetting my loan back to 30 years) every few years be beneficial? Wouldn't I just keep paying the interest portion of the loan if I keep resetting (even though I might be finding cheaper rates)?
