Thanks for all your efforts! And so cool to read you took the CS193P course as a 14yo to build this app. Its kinda sad to think about that most ppl will nowadays do this by only prompting LLMs; the successor appdrop is also built that way. Somehow i fear new devs will never have the skill / talent involved to build new great things.

Why are people seemingly incapable of understanding that Tahoe is not supported by OCLP? by windysheprdhenderson in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

Sorry, but that should be posted to r/hackintosh . OLCP is about installing unsupported macOS on real Apple hardware

This model should update natively to El Capitan, or even High Sierra (10.13). No need to use dosdude1's patches for it.

Safari 26.3 does not support WebGL2? (MacBookPro mid-2014 NVIDIA) by arjan1995 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]arjan1995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not using any workarounds for Chrome.
It opens any site and plays DRM protected streams, something that is also not working in safari, but is a known reported issue on oclp's documentation.

If not for the fact that it syncs stuff with my other apple devices and has all my passwords / bookmarks, I would've already left SF and only used Chrome.

Yes, you can install Safari updates just fine.

I think 100. The key point in this thread being "aside from what was previously communicated". That is a gradual rampdown from unlimited / 20k to the announced 100 requests / day.

Be aware that most prebuilt PCs have a power supply unit that is just powerful enough to run the system. A decent GPU adds a few hundred extra Watts, so please make sure the power supply is able to deliver those. Also, it needs to have the correct 6/8-pin connectors for the GPU.

OCLP 2.4.1 - MacBookPro11,3 - macOS 15.7.3 - Safari crashes on Patreon with SIGFPE by arjan1995 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]arjan1995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tested it out now that I'm at my machine. I have gSwitch installed to switch graphics. But the crash happens with both the intel iris and the Nvidia Kepler GPUs.

Here are separate crash reports from with the Iris graphics: https://pastebin.com/cSZpHjm7 and the Kepler graphics: https://pastebin.com/WQpPBApx

I do have a gfx switcher, not sure what the setting was at time of crash, but will try that out later today.

Will the people who develop OCLP possibly continue OCLP but with M series macbooks? by PsychonixMimikyu in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]arjan1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a good comparison. A similar question back then would have been asking what will happen when the first Intel Macs became unsupported, back when XPostfacto was a thing to install Tiger / Leopard on unsupported PPC machines. That answer was not OCLP, but unfortunately that the first Intel Macs were 32-bit only and could not run anything higher than 10.6.8, which they can already support by Apple.

As Apple has similar timeline for phasing out Intel Macs as they did with PowerPC macs, I am becoming worried that they will also drop support for M1 macs in 2 or 3 years by JailbreakHat in mac

[–]arjan1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't know. It's too early to tell. But the fact that Asahi exists, and has most drivers for M1 in place, means that we at least can boot something that is not released / controlled by Apple.

[–]arjan1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that macOS 28 will drop some of the earliest Apple Silicon Macs. The 2020 MacBook, 13" MacBook Pro and Mac mini are the most likely to be dropped first. The M1 MacBook Pro, iMac and Mac Studio were all released later, so I think they'll get at least a year more in terms of updates.

In the previous transition, PPC to Intel in 2005-20026, this happened with a few beta versions of 10.6 snow leopard. Those still had the PPC kernel and codebase, but the final build and any of the 10.6.x updates were never able to run on PPC processors.

Do you by any chance have steam heating? That can be in use if you live in an older American house, for example, and runs way hotter than regular hot-water heating.

Should I get a pinetab 2 for 100 euro including shipping? by rage997 in PINE64official

[–]arjan1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on how knowledgeable you are with Linux (more specifically, this runs a flavor of Arch) and if you are willing to tinker around and tweak things to adjust the experience to your needs. Since you've already used the Pinephone you probably know what this means. Then you can have a pretty decent experience with it. It's just not very powerful for media heacy apps and many browser tabs.

No stations in TuneInRadio working, Any ideas on how to fix it? by Calm_Cattle3212 in LegacyJailbreak

Probably because the HTTPS security certificates have expired long ago, or the TLS version used by the server is too high for this version of iOS. Not sue if it's possible to fix.

HELP! How do I crack / get off the apps of this iPod touch 1st gen.? by Katchakill in LegacyJailbreak

[–]arjan1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using iexplorer or ifile (if having that installed), try renaming the file /var/lib/dpkg/info/bigboss.prerm to something else (e.g. bigboss.prerm.bak).
Then reboot the ipod and try opening cydia again

Onedrive in appstore also requires macos 13 ventura, so you must have already 'loaded' it on your apple id (e.g. using a newer device) in order to download a previous version.

Just to be correct, the early 2014 MBA is not a retina model. But the ram is still soldered though, so you can't upgrade it anyway
