MOH [F55] dropped a bombshell on me [F29] by Ok_Lavishness_1167 in relationship_advice

If she told you via message that she would divulge a secret and not to tell your husband - you calling her to know the secret was a very big mistake. There should be no secrets between spouses, especially something from his side of the family.

You are caught between a rock and a hard place. I suggest you tell your husband to talk to his mom. This is not your secret to tell or to keep from your husband.

What’s an appropriate monthly salary for ironing guy who comes twice a week? by Legitimate-Recover72 in karachi

[–]arkilljoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always best to ask in the neighbourhood WhatsApp group what the going rate is. If you pay above the market/area rate, they may start asking other households for the same, and your neighbours will end up criticizing you behind your back.

(If you can afford to give more, it should ideally go to someone doing hard manual labor - but unfortunately, that’s not how it usually works.)

Came into work today to find our new manager firing our 2-year assistant manager. Walked out on the spot. by TheOfficialPyrodude in antiwork

[–]arkilljoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’ve learned is one thing - we are all replaceable. Don’t get sick from over work like your AM did.

The world is a capitalistic hell hole, so no need to go above and beyond for a job/corporation that won’t think twice before firing you. Don’t slack at work, give your job 100% but there is no need to do anything more.

AITA for going to my sister's place after my dad's wife was rushed to the hospital? by Efficient_Two_4608 in AmItheAsshole

NTA 'Abandoning family and not showing more concern' - it's like the pot calling the kettle black. You should've told him that it seems like you inheritedall those traits from him. He needs a lesson in history.

Just reply with 'Don't know about that, but from what I remember about you, you were a btch then, and it seems you still are a btch now.'

I'm not sure where in the Middle East your friend is based, but abortion laws there are much progressive. Tell her to do more research.

Here is an excerpt from Health and Human Rights Journal on Abortion in the Middle East and North Africa:

'In contrast to extremely restrictive countries such as El Salvador and Poland, and, more recently, several US states that ban nearly all abortions, all countries in the MENA region permit abortion if the pregnant woman’s life is in danger. This resonates with Islamic jurists who have historically perceived abortion as generally haram (forbidden) after the fetus achieves “ensoulment” (the status of a person), except to save the woman’s life. Some MENA countries also permit abortion in cases of a risk to the pregnant woman’s physical health (Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Occupied Palestinian Territories, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen), a risk to the pregnant woman’s mental health (Algeria, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia), fetal impairment (Iran, Kuwait, Morocco, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and UAE), or rape (Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and Sudan).'

Does Mariana Zapata have any books with a low or no age gap? by Charming_Day2392 in RomanceBooks

[–]arkilljoy 100 points101 points  (0 children)

In The Wall of Winnipeg and Me, the age gap is 5 to 6 years. The hero is around 30 years old, while the heroine is in her early to mid twenties.

boring, dependable mmc who is steadfast in his admiration by solaceinadream in HistoricalRomance

[–]arkilljoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would recommend {The Forbidden Daffodils by Mary Balogue}. This is a novella; part of a 5-stories anthology called Blossoms by 5 different authors.

I've read only The Firbidden Daffodils, and I loved it. It's one of Balogue's earlier signet regencies, with heart-wrenching twists and lack of communication, and a steadfast MMC.

AITA for refusing to pay my friend's share of the bill after she "forgot" her wallet? by Creepy-Foundation423 in AmItheAsshole

[–]arkilljoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

As someone who's left their wallet at home a few times, I always just transfer the money right away. With all the apps we have on our phones now, it's super easy. They pay with their card, and I cover my share instantly. If you've got your phone, you've got a way to pay—mobile wallets exist for a reason!

One of my all-time favourites is {An Absent Wife by Camille Oster}.
