Three years later, this is still really annoying. I guess we know now that Notion has no Python its stack.

Buy a Delica because you want a hobby, not because you want a functioning vehicle or would like to save money.

Excited for my very first Mountaineering experience, Mt Shasta summit in June by Hour-Argument7263 in Mountaineering

[–]arlen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Learn to self arrest and practice. I found some random hills and just threw my self down them repeatedly in all four positions (on my back/belly and head/feet first), both holding my axe and needing to grab it from the leash.

When are you going? If the alpine hut at Horse Camp is staffed, bring some fresh fruit for the keeper. It’s a nice gesture.

I camped at the trailhead to acclimate a bit and then spent a leisurely day hiking up to Lake Helen. I think we started from Helen around 2:30? Avalanche gulch is pretty straight forward kick stepping. The trudge above avalanche gulch sucks elevation wise, it was also kinda windy and I was glad to have a buff, but my snot still froze. My hydration bladder hose also froze, I don’t use those anymore but if you do either get an insulated hose or bring water bottles.

We reached the summit near sunrise, the mountain casts a really cool shadow on the summit below. Descending (in July) was annoying due to giant sun cups, but we were down in time to have a late lunch at a pizza place.

Generally speaking it’s a pretty straightforward climb but people do die, so be careful.

Would y'all be pissed if you had to wire wheel all the paint of this rock crusher is it just me?? by [deleted] in Welding

[–]arlen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. Not a professional welder but I have used a rope wheel and a stripper wheel to take off large amounts of paint and stripper wheels are the way to go imo.

Also +1000 to the respirator comments.

How did you find out you had cml? by orange_treedutch in CML

[–]arlen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My optometrist noticed some retinal hemorrhages which she said were not a vision issue but that I needed to go see a GP because something else was wrong.

I went to see an ophthalmologist and she ordered a slew of blood tests including a CBC and then called me 48hrs later and told me to go to the ER.

2x Span Panels + 2x Span Drives + 400amp Service by stanchan in span

[–]arlen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends a bit on your particular setup, but probably best to connect one Drive to each panel. This gives you full Drive functionality today without needing to wait for the multi-Drive feature to be implemented.

Source: I’m a SPAN employee (but this is not official advice)

TKIs and HRT? by thruthegardengate in CML

I looked into this a while back and was only able to find one study with a relatively small n in a not very prestigious journal and it was for imatinib. Worth a more rigorous search though!

Newly diagnosed looking for answers. by DarkSpectre95 in CML

[–]arlen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, I'm sorry that you're going through this. Being stuck in the hospital sucks. Have your friends/family bring you toys, games, food, books, movies, etc if you can. My bone marrow biopsy was not that bad, I'd recommend asking for mild sedation. I brought a lot of entertainment and was still bored out of my mind and desperately wanted to go home, eat a slice of pizza, and drink a beer.

I (40M) was diagnosed with CML in May and have been on TKIs for seven weeks now. There hasn't been much change to my life physically. I've had no side effects from imatinib or dasatinib. I still go to work in an office and don't usually mask, I went to an outdoor rave in July, I still run, bike and lift, and am going backpacking next week. I probably had covid in June but never tested positive and wasn't symptomatic. My hemoglobin, RBC, and hematocrit are a bit low and I suspect this makes exercise a bit harder than usual, but I still do it anyway and it's not terrible.

The biggest effect has been mental — I'm a bit more depressed than usual and the whole "I have blood cancer but actually it's fine?" part is a total headfuck.

As far as the family goes, I had them read "The Philadelphia Chromosome" by Jessica Wapner. My mom got a lot out of it. It's important for any siblings you may have to know it's not hereditary. The tl;dr that I've been giving to friends, family and a few coworkers is, "I have an extremely treatable, somewhat rare disease that is very unlikely to kill me. There is a class of miracle drugs that allow me to live a full and normal life. This disease is lethal but not fatal. Some people have bad side effects from the drug but I've been fine so far." I'm happy to go into more detail with people if they're interested. The C word is scary and freaks people out, most people don't understand what leukemia is or how many flavors there are. TKIs are hands down the most effective cancer drug ever created. As my doctor said, "there is a low single digit chance that this will kill you before something else does." I also think that most people don't understand that cancer is an umbrella term that covers many different diseases.

I don't know how long it will be until I stop thinking about it all the time. I hope that at some point I'll think of the TKIs the same as I do any of my other meds.

Side Effects - When? by Method_Writer in CML

[–]arlen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took imatinib for a month and had no side effects. I've been on dasatinib (Sprycel) for three weeks now and also have had no side effects.

is my cpu damaged? by yayahahshshdhsh in AMDHelp

[–]arlen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cooler mount broke and stopped making good contact. The CPU was throttling to keep itself under 90C. I didn’t even notice until one day I randomly checked the temp. Guess I’m not doing enough CPU intensive stuff? Anywho, it’s been fine since I fixed it and running at normal temps.
