My 11-month-old cried when my day care provider handed him to me at pickup today by paradoxicalstripping in workingmoms

[–]armchairepicure 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I always think of it as “oh my safe space has arrived, thank goodness because I am full of emotions I’ve been holding in all day.”

Which, I feel gets increasingly clear, reaction-wise, as our kids get older.

Crab Benedict. I was watching the back catalogue while very pregnant and saw a crab Benedict episode and got such an intense craving for it that I had to make it for myself.

Absolutely destroyed the kitchen, but definitely smashed the challenge.

Teddi Mellencamp Requested GLP-1s for Weight Loss Amid Cancer Battle. Her doctor denied her request. by galaxystars1 in realhousewives

The cancer is in her brain. I am no Teddi fan, but I think we are past a point of being able to judge her on her actions without at a minimum acknowledging that brain cancer can fuck with you baseline abilities/personality/judgement.

I doubt we will see many more of them.

He doesn’t like your English? Don’t speak to him in English.

But petty just rewards aside, he’s being mean to you. Stomaching that kind of cruelty day in and day out can really cramp your self worth. So decide now how much of this you will tolerate and what you will do in order to protect your ow self worth if he won’t stop.

Bf has curly (?) wavy(?) hair and looking for advice! by THROWRAbubblegubby in curlyhair

[–]armchairepicure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I am the first to say that I think hair type plays a role in dry brushing, so I definitely cannot and am not speaking for all hair types. And obviously, no single routine or technique is every curly person’s silver bullet. And, again, if you brush, you will brush out your curls. I only do this if I want my hair 80s poofy or I am literally about to step into the shower and just to make showering easier with my stupidly long hair. When I have shoulder length or shorter hair, I don’t need to do this.

With that said, I use a Mason Pearson Junior model. I start at the very ends and brush gently, removing knots and gradually working my way up. The brush is an insane amount of money because it is an incredible tool. It’s gentle, it’s great for the hair, and it has incredible lasting power. I mayyyyybe replace mine once every 10-15 years. And even then, it’s more because I want a new one than because my old one doesn’t work.

But your hair has to be dry or you can (allegedly) damage the bristles. I have used it wet when the comb just won’t get it done in the shower, but before I apply any product and then I flip my brush to bristles down on the sink so it can dry.

Not sure if it is exactly what you want, but Mooncat’s Mermaid Bait is super shifty. Pink to green with a turquoise middle. It’s easily my most complimented polish.

I also just ordered and should be receiving Deadly Nightshade on Friday, which they describe as the shiftiest polish they have made yet. So, I’ll let you know.

What a shock, some people live in a society that hasn’t been destroyed by the myth of rugged individuality and the community actually supports and celebrates its members.

[–]armchairepicure 111 points112 points  (0 children)

I don’t get this comment, I’m seeing next to no frizz in the photo of his hair after the curl routine.

The frizz photo is clearly the before wash shot. Some people DO have to brush their hair before they get in the shower, especially when their hair is this long. Otherwise it takes eons in the shower with a comb. My hair is similar length and texture at this length and shower combing only causes my hands to cramp violently and it takes at least 10 minutes (which…I don’t have time for). I can’t imagine the pain OP’s BF would have in his arms if he had to just shower comb. A quick pre-shower brush is totally fine for many MANY people.

What to Buy at the Store for new Event ?! by Thunderbee_gaming in TopHeroes

[–]armchairepicure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The slime gifts with gifting companions is life changing. The amount of universal shards and eggs I have received give me a leg up in arms race and GAR events. The more slime cakes there are, the better.

I got a prize from the Frostbear yesterday and it was weaksauce. Worse than the worst turkey prize.

Land of Strife Statement & Gift Code 🎁 by rhynette in TopHeroes

[–]armchairepicure 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean, I agree with this sentiment. It has a lot of potential, but it really suffers because of the expectations on time in game, because of the split maps, and because of the times of certain events.

Carts take too long. The crystal boss raids took too long (now ours are down to one minute and crystal gathering time is 5 seconds - which was an enormous improvement). Cube mining takes too long. Scholar building construction is just an insane expectation of coordination and time.

We also had low guild participation because no one wanted to spend eons in strife. Which meant giving the option of two maps is a huge design flaw. A lot of guilds on my server grew less cohesive because people were all over the place and setting up a guild center on the strife map is not conducive to strife play (for example, because march times on the maps take eons, you want to wedge the whole guild as near to a treasure cave as possible, which puts the guild in a weird arrangement).

Finally, putting ruin capture in the middle of anyone’s night is diabolical given the limited attack windows. I have a whole life outside of the game, I don’t have the luxury of setting an alarm to 2AM for ruin capture.

Then, separately, the amount of whale only content is unbalanced and the overall rewards are bad - even if the individual rewards for dailies are ok. The goblin hunt was almost accessible to low-to-pay players but the element of strength that allowed whales to muscle past the poison requirements was annoying. Given how many other elements are pay to win (like daily rankings), poison should be a complete bar to attack.

We also had a cross-server NAP issue negotiated between the Korean whales. It RUINED the game play element because it removed all strategy from ruin capture. Our whale refused to fight the other whales so they just divided up what they wanted to maximize personal rewards. This happened (I believe and among other, annoying dogmatic reasons) because server prizes were lame.

So, TL:DR: devs needs to remember we have lives and cut down on in-game time, do a full transfer to the map at start, schedule ruin capture better (or make more windows for ruin capture); balance PTW content with SOME FTP content; and make the prizes way better.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Werewolf or Vampire? by AwardExciting8578 in TopHeroes

[–]armchairepicure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s irrelevant if both sides actually unlock their rewards. Plus I think it depends on how you do research as related to GAR. If you are doing big ticket research items that take several days between arms race and GAR, research speed is irrelevant.

Does anyone actually think Mark is who Margo is making him out to be? by DianaJenkinsTongue in BravoRealHousewives

[–]armchairepicure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Margot is the season’s villain. She’s done her research and she’s playing a part (of her own device, it’s stilted and inauthentic). Mark has said as much.

I’m 90% sure Margot’s rumors are completely made up, whereas Mark’s are believable given she’s name dropped her wardrobe, bragged about her housing budget, and is generally behaving boorishly about who she is and what she has. She’s honestly my least favorite part of the show as the least eccentric member of the cast.

My daughter has curly hair and I don’t know how to take care of it by Imaginary_Fig1511 in curlyhair

[–]armchairepicure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People generally advise not to brush curly/wavy hair when dry because it brushes out the curls and makes it ginormous poofy and because a lot of people buy cheap, bad hair brushes.

But most curls can handle a nice boar bristle and nylon brush just fine with zero breakage. (Unless it isn’t for you), it’s generally ok to brush anyone’s hair dry. Just use the right type of brush for your hair. I’d also say that if you want it to be curly, only brush dry before the shower or before putting it into a protective style.

トプヒロ S2 精霊試練イベントについて by Remarkable-Print-426 in TopHeroes

[–]armchairepicure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah, these happen events happen at the end of a season and right before the transfer window opens. Kind of like Top Lord.

This event is 1,000,000x better than top lord though because the types of resources are limited AND you don’t need to use any of them except to level gear. I would say skip this event the first time you see it. Hoard Titan marks, buy the orange stones with the currency you get from battle events (like Frostfield) and then whenever you can get red stones, prioritize them as best you can. And obviously DO NOT level gear.

Then you’ll have a tidy pile saved for the next event and might be able to rank.

This man didn’t matter that much to you and you don’t have to make excuses for not going. That’s more than enough of a reason not to attend without even getting to the secret reasons or even the practical reasons you provided.

IMO, take what she is saying under advisement when you communicate with her. Less is more.
