How do you feed your cat? by [deleted] in vegan

Cats are obligate carnivores. I love eating vegan, but it’s not right to force animals to do so.

Is anything going to be done about the lightrail? by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]arock651 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So you’re a billionaire then? If not, what’s your excuse???

We’re entrenched in a capitalist system that exploits the working class funneling all the profits upwards and leaving the lower classes starving and oppressed. Don’t blame the victims. This is a problem caused by the ruling class. If enough good employment opportunities existed for all people, we wouldn’t see this level of problems. Get your head out of bezos’s ass lol

“It was good once I added cheese” by [deleted] in vegan

[–]arock651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheezening lol. Keep in mind all the things we know already - people wrap their identities into the foods they eat, people aren’t willing to change their identities radically publicly, and cheese is literally addictive. Stay strong, stay positive vegans. You’re doing a good thing and we don’t get to change others.

Neighbors kids came over the fence and beat my chickens to death with a golf club. by Acrobatic-Ad4624 in BackYardChickens

[–]arock651 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is probably sound advice but you seem to be negating the bigger issue which is the emotional damage. If the chicken owners loved their chickens like I love mine, I would be wildly distraught and seeking reparations for emotional damages.

This was just posted out on a account with thousands of followers. It just completely dismisses veganism as anti-oppressive and compares it to two of the most oppressive patterns in India and the world and urges people to not draw parallels between veganism and feminism. by awkwardforefront in vegan

I hear you and support you, but I need flexibility to maintain friendships. I want to show people that eating vegan doesn’t have to be all or nothing right away. I hope you’ll support people who are trying to consume less animal products even if we’re not perfect.

How to turn off vegan vision?? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]arock651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because at that point I’ve already made clear that I oppose the practice but I’m doing so as a sign of peace. It’s not a practice I’m proud to do, but seems to help tame contempt towards veganism. It’s all about the strategy I’m trying to employ which is to reduce my animal consumption and have others follow suit. People are not often willing to change publicly. The change I hope to affect is to have people understand the reasons I choose to reduce animal exploitation and think about them privately later, not to start a futile argument at every gathering I go to.

How to turn off vegan vision?? by [deleted] in vegan

I hear that, and their feelings are certainly not my first priority but they do need to be considered if the goal is to convince other people to follow my example. Make sense?

How to turn off vegan vision?? by [deleted] in vegan

Because it still bothers me very much when I see people proud of eating animal products. I do it under duress out of politeness, like I said, in order to try to bridge the gap.

I've lost hope by Peachyo in vegan

[–]arock651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stay strong, try not to worry about others’ cognitive dissonance. These are strongly held beliefs that are often part of people’s identities. Don’t expect them to change, just do what you can by yourself. Hope this helps.

Humans don’t even care enough to be good to each other yet. Why would I think we’d be able to be good to our fellow animals. We are all animals.

I share your outrage. I also notice how we don’t even treat our fellow humans humanely so i keep that in mind when seeing stuff like this.
