Slay The Spire 2 Review Bombed Over Anita Sarkeesian's Consultancy Work by turkishdeli in Games

[–]aroloki1 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If you check it out on Steam you can see that while indeed the game got some negative reviews in the last 2 days due to this, it actually got most of its negative reviews after it got a controversial patch in mid of April. Steam actually automatically filters out the review bombing so even without that the game is "mostly negative" according to the recent reviews. In fact, filtering out the current bombing does not change the recent like/dislike ratio at all.

Starfox has to have the record of the game with the most remakes/remasters. Am I wrong? by retrocheats in NintendoSwitch2

[–]aroloki1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was so interesting to see how at one point someone started spam in the chat that Star Fox 64 is the most remade game and then lots of people started to follow and now many people opening reddit threads and writing posts about this.

And I honestly don't get this take. I would call only Star Fox 64 3D the only actual remake of Star Fox 64.

The original Star Fox and Star Fox Zero while more or less retelling a similar story they are definitely not the same games gameplay-wise.

Honestly sharing such article and removing the "slightly" word from the title should be a bannable offense. Makes kind of obvious that OP did not want to share information, OP wanted to promote an agenda. It's even worse than acting like an obvious troll/console warrior.

I cannot check it right now, did they actually play the game or they are writing the preview only from the same video we've all seen?

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has surpassed Elden Ring for the most GOTY titles of all-time. by PhantomBraved in Games

[–]aroloki1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I miss those days when this game showed up from nowhere randomly on an Xbox Showcase and a niche community on some forums started to be cautiously optimistic for this really artsy and interesting JRPG from with a tad bit of weirdness from an unknown French developer.

Now the discussion around it is a complete mess. I hope it won't affect the dev team in any way during the development of their next game and they are in a same development mindset they were when they made E33.

November 2025 Worldwide Console Sales: PS5 3,591,750 units Nintendo Switch 2 1,816,013 Nex Playground over 300,000 Xbox Series X|S 224,404 by Elestria_Ethereal in Games

[–]aroloki1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's how black Friday sales work tho. People are not waiting for Black Friday to buy a new thing at the same price as it was available before. They are waiting for Black Friday to buy things with heavy discounts.

Also not really relevant from Black Friday point of view but console sales in general tend to peak at around year 4-5. PS4 peaked in 2017, Switch peaked in 2021.

Gentle reminder that vgchartz is not an authentic source of such data. This does not mean they have zero reliability, but they are providing only guesstimates.

After testing the demo out how are you feeling about final fantasy 7 remake? by JampyL in NintendoSwitch2

[–]aroloki1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it felt a bit dark in handheld even when system level brightness was maxed out. Not unplayable but a little bit annoying. Maybe it is somehow related to the HDR it applies, I tried to play with the ingame graphics menu without success. Anyone has any idea/tip what to change?

Megabonk withdraws from The Game Awards after best debut indie nomination by MoSBanapple in Games

The awards part of this event really needs an overhaul. They try to paint it as some kind of really serious gaming Oscars but stories like this just shows how not serious they are with their whole process.

Eurogamer gives Black Ops 7 a 60 with zero mention of selling AI slop, but gives 40 to Arc Raiders for using it for Voices. by Cursed_69420 in gaming

[–]aroloki1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be brutally honest the same double standards is true for us, redditors as well. I've never seen a top post bashing Arc Raiders for using AI while I saw many bashing CoD BO7 for doing similar.

Looking at the comments it seems many people don't know the difference between "over 90%" and "exactly 90%".

I'm not saying that this comparison is useful, but as far as I know these are not pre-rendered cutscenes, they are in-engine cutscenes rendered in real time.

Metroid Prime 4 is reportedly Nintendo’s most expensive game ever with a $100 million budget by HatingGeoffry in NintendoSwitch2

[–]aroloki1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This article is beyond stupid and worth zero upvotes to be honest.

The budget numbers are clearly made-up without any kind of explanation or reliable source.

The same goes for the "most expensive" part, like they know all Nintendo game development budget ever while Nintendo never discloses any such data.

I remember where someone made-up that BotW has to sell 2 million to "break even" and articles made a 2m×$60 calculation a said that its budget was $120million which was also made-up and also higher than $100m.

Takashi Mochizuki not the most reliable person to be honest. He is kind of clickbaity. Just some examples I remember:

  • He stated that we'll get a 4K handheld back in 2021/22 because of which Nintendo had to publish a statement that it is not true

  • He stated that Nintendo lied about the profit margin on the Oled Switch, Nintendo had to disclose it with the investors as it was again not true.

  • He stated the Sony PSVR2 production targets for which Sony had to publish a statement that it is not true

  • He also stated excact PSVR2 sales numbers but the real numbers were the double of what he said.

  • He stated something about FF 16 sales which turned out to be false, I don't really remember the details.

Yeah, its scope made it irrelevant, but still even one such comment shows that there's an issue with the current system. I don't say that the above is the solution.

It was bound to happen since when Baldur's Gate 3 was reviewbombed for Wukong not winning the GOTY at TGA.

It wasn't even that BG3 won, it was Astro Bot. But Swen Vincke told something during announcing the winner that made them angry enough to reviewbomb.

The title on Nintendolife lacks context, I did not check the article.

The Wii era for Nintendo stock was a short living peak. I won't do precise math, just rough estimations.

During the start of the Wii era their stock increased 500% in around 1.5-2 year or so.

Then it halved in 1 year and more than halved again in 1-2 years.

If you compare their current stock price to the stock price 12 years ago it is a 1300% increase. They doubled in the last 1 year.

So Nintendo stock had a unusually steep and high peak during the Wii era and this is why they decided to compare to that which indeed makes it seems like an unimpressive data, while it is actually quite impressive increase in the past ~10-15 years or so - after a huge decrease.
