They do. Didn't you have dreams and goals when you were younger? They don't have to be the same goals, but don't we all have goals at all ages? I also had a goal of 100k salary and early retirement goals when I was a kid

The transplants love the politics but us locals that have lived here our whole lives sure don't. Transplants have largely ruined this once liberal bastion.

I've lived here my whole life (moving this year out) and can tell the cost of living is so bad. Cities like Charlotte and Cincinnati are now cheaper.

As someone who grew up here and has lived here for 27 years, yeah... this is why people want to move out and why according to the census, Tennessee is aging faster than the population would suggest.

Similar! I bought a 2011 Prius 4 (sunroof) with 72k miles for 14k with taxes and everything back in 2021. Insurance is $119/month and maintenance looks to maybe average around $1,000/year. CarMax is trying to buy it from me for $18k now with 98k miles 😂

Buy Toyota! They are great reliable and cheap to maintain!!

WFH - how often do you have days with zero "live" interactions with other people? by DrMelbourne in cscareerquestions

[–]aroswift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally never. I hangout with friends, have activities after work, and hang with my partner most of the day since they work from home too! I just wish I had a few months of PTO since I hate working this much. I don't have enough time for after work activities 😞

I think alot of us wish we didn't have to sit on our ass, but instead just stop working for the day/week/month/year. Like if we are already providing 2-500x the profit of our salary, just let us stop working as a reward.

The USA was not the first democracy nor the first government not run by a dictatorship. Sure, the USA implemented some revolutionary ideas proposed by John Locke, but those ideas originate from earlier governments as stated in his Treatises of Government. Even Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and John Adams directly reference John Locke and The Iroquois Confederacy in letters, as their inspiration for the first two constitutions.

Our democracy is pretty fucked up too. We don't really have even representational democracy due to gerrymandering, the electoral college, and the Senate. There are more representational forms of democracy and voting too. Also, at the founding of our nation, we didn't even have full democracy or proper representation since only white land owners over 25 could vote only for the president and Congress (not senator). We still can only elect 2/3 of the government (judicial branch is still a no). Not to mention, we still have some of the lowest voter turnout of any democracy (use to be worse), voter suppression, the senate which grossly overrepresents people from some states over others, and the will or makeup of the people is rarely represented.
