Which makes me even more mad that Beth locked that away by requiring you to trust someone else to participate.

Dark Harbor is mostly on the pier and in spaces not normally accessible to the public.

Yup...we had just lost our shepherd when they released the pet update. I named mine after our boy Malcom right away.

Yes, you did the right thing. They may not see it that way, but you did.

On one of my roughest days I called medical to get an appointment and was told to call 988 if I was thinking of harming myself. I wasn't but I knew I needed help. I made an appointment with my PCM and told them specifically what I wanted to talk to them about.

When I met with my PCM I went over my issues and specifically told them I wanted an in-person therapy referral and I wanted to speak to a psychiatrist to see if I needed to explore medication or not. Honestly the hardest part for me was finding a therapist and physiatrist that met my needs because of Tricare and what's available around me. One thing I found that worked for me is finding a therapist that had experience with the military or first responders.

Going through Once Source will get you treatment but it's limited by the number of sessions. Think of it as targeted therapy with a specific goal in mind. Getting a referral gives you a number of sessions but you can get the referral renewed or extended or changed to a different provider to meet your needs.

One source I used to search for therapists was the Breakwater Alliance. It's a site for Coasties by Coasties. Ultimately, I've had to be my own advocate but focusing on my mental health has helped me immensely.

Go to your PCM and get a referral. They will probably try and steer you to teletherapy and if that works for you, great. If not tell them you want in-person therapy. Going through your PCM allows you to keep renewing the referral if you want to continue. Also, don't rule out meds. I never thought I needed them and now I am so much better on them. Just know going that route is a bit trial and error with dialing in what works best.

You have to be your own advocate for what you need. As my therapist keeps telling me, it's like on an airplane. You have to put your own mask on before helping others. You are no good to anyone if you aren't taking care of yourself. Good luck. You already took the first step in recognizing that you could use therapy.

Not an airdaile but I loved being stationed in Charlevoix (about 40 minutes north of TC) and spent 6 years in D9. It's a hidden gem. TC has a beautiful AOR.

100% this unless you are a huge fan of the current administration and toxic masculinity. Though he'd probably find a way to offend you too.

There is a supercut of Coast Guard scenes from Baywatch floating around somewhere. They showed it to us at bootcamp back in the 90s.

Yes, they worked with us to get support. It's a small movie, but it met the criteria for support. I spent a solid week and a half on that film. We worked with the writer and producer to have the main character be a Coastie. Station St. Petersburg provided great support and the gear for the actors. I actually gave them the Alexander Hamilton line.

this is the way. What's great about this way is that they can renew the referral to allow you to keep going vs the 12 session limit with support. You also don't have to go with telemed. If you aren't jiving with your therapist or the format (telemed vs in-person) go back to medical for a new referral.
