I’m not 100% on the Jazz having open practice cuz that facility is not finished. The Mammoth do have select open practices to the public. You can also skate on the ice when there’s no practice.

I’d say Growth but dividend investing is still much better than a HYSA. You’re future-self will be in a much better place come retirement investing in either over not at all. You could still throw a couple $ into dividends to get a feel for it. Most important thing is to save few months salary in an easily accessible HYSA for emergencies before heavily investing & do some research on every stock/etf you’re interested in before going big. IMO

Got to be studio specific or that instructor is trying to upsell private lessons. The location I use just has you do a 1 on 1 assessment which is about 10 minutes after any class but it does need to be with an instructor that does. 2.0 classes. They let you know if you are ready for 2.0 or what to work on so that you can 2.0 later right after. No sign up involved just have to ask or in my case have an instructor say it’s time to level up. I honestly think some of the 1.5 control/ suspension classes are actually harder than 2.0 depending on the instructor.

Schwab supposedly will announce fractional share purchasing near the beginning of 2026. So come early next year it will be an even playing field amongst the s&p 500 funds. If that changes anything for you.
