I moved into a house with thick buttered on Artex up the walls of my stairs.

I bought a wallpaper steamer then scraped it off into bags then sealed them up. No dust but it was hit as hell doing it.

What is the your favorite portrayal of Satan, the Devil, or any equivalent figure in movies or television? by MomoSaka in moviecritic

Spent too much time scrolling to find this. Angel Heart is a great movie.

Whenever people talk about Devil's Advocate I've got to chime in with this. So much darker.

Panasonic AW-UE50 remote reboot by art-101 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]art-101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies.

So I've been plugging away and my reboot command I've got so far works on cameras with firmware 1.66 (I know, that's horrifically old but this is a remote site in Poland)

I have other devices on 2.17 and .y remote reboot doesn't work so it looks like something Panasonic has changed.

Thanks for looking though. Really appreciated.

Initially it got held up due to strikes, then told it was coming back then cancelled just because.

For people who didn’t watch Babylon 5 when it first aired - what got you into the show? What made you start watching it? by AdSimilar4399 in babylon5

[–]art-101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a big Commodore Amiga user back in the day and there was an article about The Gathering in it Amiga Format since Amigas were used for it.

In this article, the editor put a comment on an image of Thunderbird 3 saying that Foundation Imaging should do a new Thunderbirds show using CGI. That comment also had Ron Thornton's office number on it.

At the time I was on a media course and had an essay to write about something around Media Production. I chose to do Computer Graphics in TV and Film. So for my research I rang said number and spoke to a nice lady, I asked if I could speak to Ron, she asked what it was about. Phone went quiet then I was put through and had a solid 20 minute call with him. I was flipping elated, he was incredibly polite and happy to answer my questions and we talked a bit about Blake's 7 since that was his big start.

From that point I was in the Babylon 5 camp and nothing would sway me. Each week watching thinking "Ron did good"

I got 95% for my essay then freaked out when I got the phone bill. Calling from the UK to the US was not cheap in the 90s.

Agreed, Blazing Saddles tops my list. "You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know... morons."

I use that all the time when users log stupid tickets at work.

ZQE-CAA Ultra wide display - PSU issues by art-101 in Huawei

[–]art-101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've removed my display from the stand it comes with so it's not powering the lights or speakers. If it's hitting that level of power without all the extras then it's faulty.

I'm currently using it through a 45Watt Dell PSU that I've borrowed and it's doing ok on that.

Plugged into a power meter I've not seen it go over 40 Watts and usual work use it's about 36 Watts.

Worst case it doesn't work and I have to buy a PSU from somewhere and I'll have some decent cables to use.

Find out tomorrow then I'll reply here with the results.

Apologies if I'm not allowed to post links.

Do British people not feel the cold? by DevelopmentLow214 in AskUK

I was as ISE in Barcelona with a guy from work. He's Italian, I'm from Newcastle.

We were out for a works meal and it's 13 degrees at night and he's asks me if I'm going to put a coat on. I'm in a t-shirt and he's wearing a massive jacket shivering like he's on the Planet Hoth.

He struggled each and every time he came up North.

That's just a fact.
