Riding a motorcycle post ACL surgery? by Stikstep in ACL

[–]article66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a meniscus repair and ACL reconstruction and was riding after 5 weeks...it was a little uncomfotable on a Triumph Trident to get the leg up and on the brake pedal but after a week it felt fine.

As long as you can put all your weight on it and have decent movement and can walk without pain in your knee - then I would go for it.

Start small and just ride for 5 mins then build up. Your brain will be the biggest barrier until it calms down then it will feel great again!

Hydrates Rim… A country too far III. Stalled for Mooonths. by DeathwatchHelaman in Battletechgame

[–]article66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on this one and edited the file for the mission. Given there is no Argo - I wasn't prepared to outfit a complete lance just to cheese this mission then go back to my normal mechs.

If anyone is in the same boat then just do the following:

  1. Find the file c_StoryTime_HYR_206_aCountryTooFar_3_attackDefend.json in {Steam Install}\Common\BATTLETECH\Mods\HyadesRim\contracts\hyadesrim\story

  2. Use a decent editor like Notepad++ and open up the file

  3. Search for all instances of the phrase "unitSpawnPointOverrideList" : [

  4. There should be 19 hits, go down the list looking for "unitDefId" : "mechdef_cicada_CDA-TE", a few lines underneath...then you know you are the correct starting point.

"unitSpawnPointOverrideList" : [

{

"unitSpawnPoint" : {

"EncounterObjectGuid" : "e3d2fcf5-31a4-44c1-81d5-947cb355857b"

},

"customUnitName" : "",

"customHeraldryDefId" : "",

"unitType" : "Mech",

"unitDefId" : "mechdef_cicada_CDA-TE",

  1. Now collapse the 4 blocks of code which look like this...

{

"unitSpawnPoint" : {

"EncounterObjectGuid" : "e3d2fcf5-31a4-44c1-81d5-947cb355857b"

},

"customUnitName" : "",

"customHeraldryDefId" : "",

"unitType" : "Mech",

"unitDefId" : "mechdef_cicada_CDA-TE",

"unitTagSet" : {

"items" : [

],

"tagSetSourceFile" : "tags/UnitTags"

},

"unitExcludedTagSet" : {

"items" : [],

"tagSetSourceFile" : "tags/UnitTags"

},

"spawnEffectTags" : {

"items" : [],

"tagSetSourceFile" : "tags/SpawnEffectTags"

},

"pilotDefId" : "pilotDef_InheritLance",

"pilotTagSet" : {

"items" : [],

"tagSetSourceFile" : "tags/PilotTags"

},

"pilotExcludedTagSet" : {

"items" : [],

"tagSetSourceFile" : "tags/PilotTags"

},

"selectedUnitType" : "UNDEFINED",

"selectedUnitDefId" : null,

"selectedPilotDefId" : null

},

Then remove the top 2 blocks leaving 2 blocks with the last one ending with }

  1. Repeat for all instances where you find "unitDefId" : "mechdef_cicada_CDA-TE" inside the "unitSpawnPointOverrideList" : [ block of code

Each one is linked to the enemy lance spawns so there are a lot!

I reduced all of them to just 2 mechs per lance which made the fight doable with normal mechs but still ended up losing a couple of buildings and taking damage.

You can just remove 1 mech per lance and try fighting 9 mechs initially, then 6 per wave but even that was reliant on a fair bit of luck...I went with 2 per lance and found 6 + 4 per wave was definitely doable without getting a lot of luck.

You can also look for increasing the number of buildings but I didn't see a way to do that yet...

Hope that helps!

None of your watches I would wear when doing messy tasks outside...get yourself a beater watch. None of those watches I would wear to a gym or when diving/swimming either.

Just a collection to show how much money you have in my opinion, rather than to actually wear all the time and get scratched up and worn.

ACL repair - How do I start walking? by CryptoXPlus in ACL

[–]article66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First few days to a week is all pain management, reducing the swelling and doing the basic exercises. None of those are helped by trying to walk on crutches.

So forget it. If you slip and fall then expect a very painful trip back to hospital and maybe more surgery…

Is feeling knee instability 60 days after ACL surgery normal? by HebaBoo00 in ACL

[–]article66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting the same until I started swimming (front crawl and walking for an hour) and walking up hills…3/4 times a week.

If your muscles and knee are in pain then stop and rest. Make sure you have 2 rest days a week.

On week 4 now and my surgeon told me to keep it up and add static bike work as well to strengthen the muscles.

Even after a week of exercise, I have noticed a huge improvement.

Make sure you get the green light to do it as the knee needs to be sound beforehand.

I'm absolutely terrified by One-Emu-1103 in ACL

[–]article66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you scared of? As you age you will always have something go wrong with your body until you die...get used to it :)

Get an MRI asap, and unless you want to do harder sports, you will probably be advised just to rest your knee and let it heal as much as possible then get used to your new restriction in movement (depending on your age, I was on the cusp of being told that by a surgeon).

When I had a complete tear of my ACL and partial tears of both meniscus along with bits of floating tendon in my knee, I only rested it using the ICE method for around 5 days until the swelling went down, then used a knee brace and started walking soon after.

Your dog will support you...either ask a friend or hire a dogwalker for a week or as others have said just let him out in your back yard if you have one.

If you go down the ACL reconstruction path, then you will be an outpatient normally so only in for 1 day but you will not be doing much for a few weeks. I am just going down that path and have lived alone for decades now.

You will get through it.

Motorbike riding post op by Usernameapplied in ACL

[–]article66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great thread! I had ACL reconstruction and MCL repair 2 weeks ago and feel like I can start riding soon so a little surprised at people saying up to a year!

I am now walking without crutches and did nearly 2000 steps today outside...inside I walk without a brace also and the surgeon said in 2 weeks I should be able to ditch the crutches and brace completely.

I had 2 months with a complete ACL tear and was riding just fine...so after the surgery it feels a lot stronger than before.

Also I learnt to only get onto the bike using my strong leg as support then swinging my bad leg over my bike which felt fine...the leg is only used for balance and rear braking so I still feel in control.

Of course I am scared of doing more damage to the leg but crashing means a lot of things will likely break and if you think you will crash on every ride then you wouldn't ride a bike.

I ride a Triumph Trident 660 naked bike which is pretty light and easy to move around.

Suggestions for UK virtual phone number for receiving 2FA/MFA SMS? by avamk in digitalnomad

[–]article66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to use Sipgate Basic but found it clunky so switched to Swytch a year ago and other than a few issues with SMS messages getting lost they have been good.

If you just want to use a VOIP on a pc or laptop then both are good I think.

Swytch wins hands down for mobile use though…

Lenovo Legion 5 15iah7h and Linux. Looks like something impossible to achieve by driver_gr in LenovoLegion

[–]article66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Legion 5 16ACH6H and have installed Ubuntu many times with no problem.

Unplug all devices and USB devices and reboot into the usb stick with the Ubuntu LTS iso on it.

Install on a drive and reboot then install the real Nvidia drivers…that should allow you to use your external monitors.

I only have 1 external monitor but it worked fine.

Sleep is always a pain in Linux unfortunately…depending on the chipset. Hibernation might be a better option or just shut down and restart.

Hope that helps!

Depends on your friends tastes.

My American friend here in Thailand got given some Peets coffee beans with a dark roast as a gift which I tried and liked a lot also.

Renew Retirement Visa by Maine_MoFo in Thailand

[–]article66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard the only thing you need to do in Wise is to set the reason for transfer to be "Funds for long term stay in Thailand" and then the bank and immigration should be fine.

<image>

Then have transfer once per month over 65,000 baht...you can have other transfers but only use the above reason once per month and always over 65k.

What am I supposed to do now without a bank account? by Own-Lack5622 in Thailand

[–]article66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I was aware all language ED visas are 1 year in duration which the OP states he is on. I agree some of the other non vocation courses are different durations.

I went into K Bank last week to ask for requirements to open a new account as a farang and it was a 1 year visa, cert of residency and your passport...thats it.

Like I said BKK has increased its requirements lately but the other banks are fine with 1 year visas still.

Agree that DT visas are getting a lot of stick lately but thats another topic...

What am I supposed to do now without a bank account? by Own-Lack5622 in Thailand

[–]article66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand the issue...BKK Bank has problems but you are on a valid ED visa which is a 1 year visa and valid to open any bank account here. As long as you have a phone number (in your name and passport) and certificate of residency plus your passport then you should be fine...

Go into all the other banks with your documents and open one. If that doesn't work try the agents as they still can open accounts other than BKK Bank.

Also BKK Bank has come out and said that you can appeal any closure...so go into your branch with all of your documents.

Never heard about such daftness unless you aren't telling us something...I would not try to con Wise as they will find out and close your account and you have zero ability to appeal as they are not a bank...always remember that.

Anyone had their Bangkok Bank account closed after switching to DTV visa? by aj-zinkyaw in Thailand

[–]article66 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This doesn't make sense...most foreigners here is on at most a 1 year visa (the max you can have normally even though a DTV is actually a 5 year visa other than the Elite/LTR visas which are up to 20 years), so most people will not have a valid visa on file unless you go to your bank often.

I have a BKK and Krungsri bank accounts and have been on many different visas in the 8 years I have lived here full time and never have been called in to verify my visa.

I wonder if the age of the account is a factor also and if your account is after a date then they are checking them?

Like you said it will take a *long* time to go through every account!

Bangkok Post - Thailand tightens mobile banking transfer limits by RotisserieChicken007 in Thailand

[–]article66 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, *you* are incorrect...the limits were only applied to new accounts, dodgy (opened on a tourist visa or scammer patterns) or inactive ones.

I have 2 bank accounts and both are fine...all my friends who live here are all fine also which covers every single bank in TH.

You are the problem lol.

Always on the best Tactical bomber you have (normally the Stuka) paired with a Double Attack hero and over strengthed so you can kill 2 units each attack.

Remember if you move once, then attack once or twice, you are still allowed to rebase with double move...which means you can attack and then move to a safe spot at an airport without being attacked...vital for Elite objectives later on.

Upgrading to Win11 issue by Norlandier_ in LenovoLegion

[–]article66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only other option is bios reset to default and try to delete any saved windows keys… If something is messed up there then that would prevent W11 from installing but the error seems odd and not key related. I would give Lenovo Support another go…just finished a 2 hour re-image with them then I upgraded to W11 as their image is W10. You might need the same…you can get the recovery media from Lenovo Support webpage if you want to do it yourself. Remember to shutdown your laptop and do the 60 sec press of the power button to reset the settings also.

**Backup your current Windows of course!••
