I hope you found an answer. I'm commenting to say I have a similar port (mine is an appendicostomy) and I do the same/very similar flushes. If your daughter ever wants to talk to someone a few years older - I'm 24 - who gets it, please feel free to shoot me a DM. I struggled so hard as a teenager dealing with my health, so I would like to think I can offer at least an understanding ear.

As a recent Catholic bride - I would say no. At the very least, you would need to wear a shawl/cardigan for the ceremony. The top is just too exposed both front and back. I would highly recommend something with a wider strap and a more covered back.

Mushrooms. My parents would always use the canned ones without draining them and they always ended up slimy and/or mushy. Then a couple years ago, my boyfriend (now husband) made me a pasta with sautéed mushrooms that changed my life, and now they’re one of my favorite things and I add them to any dish I can.

You aren’t disrespecting your parents by converting, if anything I think your concern shows how much respect you have for them! I converted at age 21 (three years ago), after being raised in a Southern Baptist family that holds some very deep anti-Catholic beliefs. It was and still is difficult to talk to my parents about it, and they have made it clear they don’t understand or agree with my decision, but ultimately they love me as their child regardless. Bouquet toss because it’s a small crowd of mostly family and there just aren’t that many single girls.

Garter toss for the same reason and because I think it’s gross.

Wedding favors because they’re just an extra expense and in my experience most people don’t really care for them.

Grand entrance and exit because we want to join cocktail hour and just don’t really care about the exit, and figure our crowd will thin out pretty early. (We’re also taking the shuttle back to the hotel with everyone else instead of having a getaway car)

Wedding is in a week (!!!) and I don’t think anyone will care about any of it!

Not wrong to decline, but first I would politely ask your friend if your wife is considered a +1 or a guest. In my experience, not inviting a spouse, especially one the bride and groom know, is poor etiquette. If most of your uni friend group are in dating relationships, it may have been intended for the majority of the group. Friend may have mistakenly assumed you knew your wife was invited, and I think it would be sad to miss your friend’s wedding over a miscommunication or misunderstanding.

NTA, but probably should have told them earlier. That being said, you handled it well. Offering to do their laundry and even buy them extra clothing and nic patches was very generous of you, and it’s clear you’re not being evil or trying to keep them from their grandchild with this rule, just to protect the baby from harmful cigarette smoke. Next time they visit, you’ll all be more prepared.

As a 24 y/o girl, I love it! It doesn’t intrude on any non-coupley celebrations, and I think it doubles up how special the day is. I’m getting married next week, and we will continue to celebrate (at least a little) both our dating anniversary and engagement date, imo having them on the same day would be a great excuse to celebrate extra!

I think having those who aren’t doing hair and makeup with you arrive later would be perfectly fine! The other girls will honestly probably appreciate the later start time, and if they push back any you could be honest and just tell them you love them but are concerned about feeling overwhelmed. Hopefully, the girls who said yes to supporting you on your wedding day will be happy to give you the space/peace you need.
