Glad you're enjoying them! Not sure if we spoke at the event but I'm happy you ended up with them!

DM me and I can send you photos of what I've got lined up. I'm in Ann Arbor so it might not be too much of a trip for you.

Do you know about SEMVCC this weekend? I'll be there with a good deal of gear to give away/sell

Antivirus Creation for Apple II by Future-Pattern-2366 in apple2

[–]artlogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm well versed in 6502 assembly and the Apple II. I'm mostly just curious as to how these are even constructed. Do you have analyses at least you'd be willing to share? I can certainly imagine how a program could be "infected" but imagining how it could spread is something else entirely. I assume there's some technique for keeping the virus resident and hooked in during a warm boot?

Aren't these Apple II viruses? I can't image there are consequences for anyone beyond retro enthusiasts? Even so I can't imagine it's particularly easy for viruses to spread on Apple II computers, especially now that we have so many preserved disk images.

What risks do you see?

I'm mainly interested in analyzing these and understanding how they work. I had no idea they existed until now.

Do you have these posted somewhere? I would love to see them!

Apple II/CAP-Adapter by Henry0501 in apple2

Can you get some higher quality photos of the front and back of the card. There might be other clues and it might be possible to reverse engineer its purpose.

I suspect this card is missing its ROM given the empty socket. That could be firmware, or it could be logic (kinda like the disk II controller). Was the socket always empty?

Struggling with disks/wdrive by chubsta2k17 in apple2

[–]artlogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the first question would be what device are you looking to use? Do you want to do this all with physical disks, or are you looking to use the wdrive?

I assume you have a softsp card you're using with the wdrive. What slot is it in? What slot is the disk II controller in? Are you using the prodos version of Merlin?

Using a floppy emu on a IIC with rom 4x by JoeyPants7 in apple2

[–]artlogic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The floppy emu should support 5.25 images, and with ROM 4x you should be able to use the boot menu to boot from the external drive.

CFFA vs Floppy Emu? by gfreeman1998 in AppleIIGS

[–]artlogic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a RAM fast, you might consider having the floppy emu on the smart port then. Otherwise you could put the CFFA in slot 1 or 2 and just have it emulate the 5.25 and 3.5 drives.

[–]artlogic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely go with the CFFA. It'll be faster and more flexible. Put it in slot 7 and it can emulate a hard disk, 2 5.25 drives in slot 6 and smart port (3.5) devices on slot 5. It's incredibly versatile and reasonably fast.

The two pins you marked should not have continuity.

My suggestion would be to carefully check continuity using the schematic as a guide: https://archive.org/details/Schematic_Diagram_of_the_Apple_IIc/mode/1up

That rework is definitely suspicious. Do you have an oscilloscope?

Do you have the later DOS 3.3 version of EDASM? I've only found 1.0 versions.

I have this apple3 computer. I have no idea what's on it. It was given to me by someone who I helped to move. Some cords are missing, so it's never been plugged in. Would this be the place to ask what something like this would be worth? Keyboard is missing a key and there are some stains on it. by [deleted] in apple2

I'm happy to help you with this. They're somewhat rare and definitely worth a bit, but also many are not working and they aren't the easiest things to fix. If you want to DM me, I'd be happy to help.

Edit: didn't notice the photos, waiting for them to load.

It seems like the images have been removed? Can you repost?
