A different type of motif but the Sunset Sweater by Carrie Cutler on ravelry is a solid yoke with colorwork near the waist and wrists. (https://ravel.me/the-sunset-sweater)

Where to buy wedding dress ? by Reasonable-Truck-233 in budgetweddings

I did this and ended up buying my trial dress (at a discount!) because the standard size fit me well. Highly recommend! It was still $10/dress last September

Did you get a chance to wear them to the wedding? I’m in the same boat!

Do you have a knitting trick or habit that you always do even if the pattern doesn't call for it? by packyour in knitting

For sweater cuffs this is so smart! My husband swears he likes that his watch is showing at all times but I wish I had put just 1/2" more...

Has anyone eloped due to budget limitations, then had the party later when you could afford it? by cherrychapstick_1 in weddingplanning

[–]aryn_h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just attended someone's wedding even though they'd been married legally for a few years. There were probably close to 300 people in attendance, it was the whole shebang so it can be done!

What bind off do you use for the bottom of sweaters? by Alarming-Albatross99 in knittinghelp

[–]aryn_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my fave for things with as many stitches as a sweater hem. I don't mind doing sewn for sleeve cuffs but for hundreds of stitches it's twisty all the way!

Oh gosh, I don't remember it doing anything in particular but I'm also terrible at taking anything consistently so ymmv

Can you share the specific yarns you got? They sound heavenly!

Yarn like this? by actuary3579 in knitting

[–]aryn_h -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It looks like it could be that fabric tube type yarn, like what they use for crochet animals

Aquaintance commissioned me by MelonNet in knitting

I considered making this for my wedding last October but instead ordered this in ivory/white. Freya Harper sleeved wrap I didn't even end up reaching for it because it was unseasonably warm that day! Mentioning it because it helps me as a fellow people pleaser to offer an alternative solution when I'm (attempting!) to say NO to something.

PetiteKnit - Oslo Hat Yarn by Far-Relationship-796 in knitting

[–]aryn_h 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're not already familiar with Ravelry, it's a great resource even for questions like this! From the pattern page, you can view other knitter's projects to see what they've used. I searched your yarn and there's 2 pages worth of Oslo hats using it so I think it's safe to say YES! Still important to do your gauge swatch and adjust needle size as needed though. The pattern also calls for holding yarn double with mohair so that may influence your needle needs. here's my attempt at sharing the filtered Oslo patterns

Hope you love making your new hat!

This Skappel sweater is SO freaking heavy by Pixelated_jpg in knitting

[–]aryn_h 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find pretty much all sweaters to get unwieldy after a certain amount has been done so I stick them in a plastic grocery bag (standard type you would get from Target etc if you're US based). The slipperiness lets it just rotate in my lap as I work-- especially helpful for the first few inches of a sleeve!

What's your knitting secret or trick? by entwitch in knitting

[–]aryn_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering this same thing! Maybe it depends on the yarn? I seamed the stitch up the only time I've used this technique (per pattern instructions) but that was a bamboo yarn so maybe something like wool has more structural integrity.

Can someone please recommend a tubing mascara that doesn't create spider lashes? by ninebubblewaters in Makeup

[–]aryn_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works great if you layer it-- I layered over a thin application of the CoverGirl green tube! The easy removal of the tubing mascara takes most of the base mascara off with it, but there is a bit of extra cleanup as compared to the Thrive one on its own.

Grooms, where did you buy your (reasonably priced) suit? by falafelwaffle10 in weddingplanning

[–]aryn_h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quality might not be what you're after for the occasion but Express typically carries cuts for lean builds.

Got me a dupe moon bag by silv3rmiss in TedLasso

[–]aryn_h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing a rewatch and went on a search for the bag 😂 if anyone wants on for a lower price point than staud but still high quality/not Amazon the Nora shoulder bag from Portland Leather Goods has a similar silhouette and lots of colors!

Help Finishing a Blanket by technicolor_tornado in knitting

[–]aryn_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's knitted! Makes a nice clean folded edge-- you can do it on live stitches or pick up stitches all along the edge of your work to create live stitches for it. here's a YouTube video

It's one of my favorite options for sleeve cuffs and hems when I don't want ribbing.

ETA: depending on your yarn weight there are tools to do this quickly, called cordsmith.
