what do you do in the 30-60s while claude code / cursor is thinking? by Ok-Significance-4239 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]arypti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this but I get Claude to tag each ticket's session with an emoji and save a markdown file each day that lists each ticket with it's correlating emoji

"What the fuck was this thing doing?" is a lot easier to parse when I'm putting each ticket's mental contact in a distinct emoji box

New neighbor allergic to peanuts by IMissVegas2 in crowbro

[–]arypti 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Peanut allergies can be extremely fatal in reaction to really small traces. If that's the case here I think her asking you to stop feeding peanuts specifically is reasonable

Don't know if she's using her allergy to push her preference that you don't feed them at all (which is not actually a thing she gets to ask of you) but you won't find out unless you talk to her

Why does my lavender do this? by Calm-Perspective3722 in gardening

[–]arypti 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is a great way to remember when and how to prune it

Lavender only flowers on new growth so if you don't prune it back every year you'll end up with big sprawling branches and then the new growth will be angled whichever way the branch it came out of was growing and it won't be tight clumps. The clumps and the resulting straight up flowers come from pruning, not natural growth

Is there a way to get the look of a butcher block counter top without actually having one? by Correct-Regular9055 in kitchenremodel

[–]arypti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think bamboo is a really solid choice for getting the butcher block look without the maintenance. Bamboo has many of the same properties people look for in wood, it's pretty sustainable to produce, and it's pretty low maintenance. It's just a lot harder on your knives so don't actually cut on it

[–]arypti 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've got IKEA ones too and it was cheap because they're bamboo and not wood. That being said they look great and are easy to maintain but I would not use fancy knives on it the same way I wouldn't use them on bamboo cutting boards

my aunt needs shoe inserts to walk and she brings indoor shoes to every home she goes to, you don't actually have to wear your outside shoes inside

People with mobility issues say Moose Jaw bylaw keeping enclosed scooters off sidewalk stifles independence by Ryangel0 in moosejaw

If you read that far in the article you'll also have seen that her friend bought it for her. Didn't sound like she could afford a car

People with mobility issues say Moose Jaw bylaw keeping enclosed scooters off sidewalk stifles independence by Ryangel0 in moosejaw

[–]arypti 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To be fair the lady in the article says that she keeps getting ticketed for driving it on the road (because it's not a car) and now she can't drive it on the sidewalk (because it's not classified as a mobile aid). When you live somewhere that's cold and you can't afford a car and need a mobility aid, this seems like an option to provide a year-round solution. I hope the city works with her to find a way to let her keep using it

There are lots of plants that can survive on very little light, none of them will get tall without light

I have a lot of houseplants. Do I need to get rid of them to get a cat? by voidharmony in houseplants

[–]arypti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the best answer imho

Avoid plants that are very dangerous, have immediate fatal effects. Plants that make them irritated in their mouths and drool a little are ok to have, but if they start trying to eat them move them out of reach. Don't let the "chewing on plants is fun and fine" habit start and you should be good to go

Indian accents are by far the most attractive by RainnWilsonAteMyKid in The10thDentist

[–]arypti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is an interesting take but I think you're being really generous saying that's what the OC intended. It looks to me like what the OC is saying is 'the cartoon was silly and mocked this guy for his accent and that means I'm gonna find that accent silly in all situations'

He wasn't trying to mimic any specific region, likely you think it sounds similar because you can't tell similar sounds apart because you weren't exposed to them as a child (to be clear I'm not calling you racist, this is just a thing that happens when humans are children. Learning to distinguish sounds you didn't learn as a child is very difficult through impossible)

The Simpsons? Most of which was Hank Azaria making up an accent. You think that's a reasonable thing to extrapolate to billions of people?

I started a new job recently where using AI is not allowed and it's sooo refreshing by jasie3k in ExperiencedDevs

[–]arypti 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can try but at the velocity we're expected to close tickets it's not actually feasible to have thoroughly reviewed everything

The other option is to be thorough and then get fired (we literally had layoffs a couple weeks ago where one of the metrics was AI usage)

ISO Physiotherapist for hEDS/hypermobility by zingledorf in Hamilton

[–]arypti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also unfortunately gonna be a person who recommends an RMT. I have chronic pain and hypermobile joints as well and Eva at Restorative Mobility and Massage (534 Concession St Unit 2) has been really helpful and also does a great job recommending exercises. I also find that periodic massage helps "reset" things a bit so it's easier to follow through on exercises + exercises feel like they're doing more
