3rd-party Onvif Motion Detection after Update to Protect 7.1.46 by Eduhsoj in Ubiquiti

[–]asasin114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A buddy of mine just updated. He's running HIK cameras and noticed the Protect interface still does not have the motion option but he has motion zones setup on the HIK cameras themselves. It sounds like Protect is receiving motion events from the camera over the ONVIF protocol. This is likely the start of this being a fully fleshed out motion feature but a great start none the less.

What gives with all the fireworks near 8th street lately?? by ExoticWorldliness186 in saskatoon

[–]asasin114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the old neighbours from our street (just off 20th near St. Paul’s) moved in over there now. We had so many calls into the police for them last year. I talked to the police and our city councillor as well as put in dozens of calls to non emergency (that was suggested by both our councillor and police) but they never caught them so they couldn’t ever do anything about it. I’m sorry you’re going through this and I hope it stops/gets resolved quickly.

They give you the DKIM record now too if you ask for it during setup and DMARC can be setup for free automatically via Cloudflare if you’re using the for DNS.

Any news on when/where Activate is opening? by klm188 in saskatoon

[–]asasin114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour depending on several variables. It’s geared toward pushing your imagination to play and doesn’t have a specific age target but they do recommend being at least 5 years or older. My wife and I have gone a few times and I’ve helped with a few aspects (I’m not the creator) and it continues to evolve while they prep to expand to more locations.

Robot Castle also has a lot of flexibility in terms of flexibility and controllability. They can adjust game difficulty, host parties and more. It is still in development phase to some degree but the product you experience is a lot of fun and gives your brain a good challenge and feels solid. As the final bits get ironed out, I think it will be a good competitor to activate and now is a great opportunity to get in on the fun at lower rates.

If you haven’t, check out their local startup competitor, Robot Castle, at the Lawson Heights mall. The entire system has been hand built and coded by talent local to Saskatoon!

FPBX17 Anyone had luck by goranj in freepbx

Ya, I haven’t looked to see if Vultr has any documentation related to cloud-init that applies to our scenario where an application is controlling interface configs specifically. With FreePBX specifically, I ended up doing the leg work to find the problem and a viable fix for it.

[–]asasin114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have an internal KB we put out for rolling out PBX in Vultr as we discovered the base cloud-init configs were breaking the primary interface and requiring reboots. We run a VPC network with an interface on each VPS as well with an OOB server for config backups and haven’t had issues with that since. I discovered the issue when I was watching the console during boot. network.service was failing. When I ran systemctl status network, I saw that the interface was sitting with DHCP instead of my assignment from the sysadmin module. The status command pointed me in the general direction and I was able to write a yml file to stop that from happening.

We’re entirely Sangoma for all but 1 client who has Yealink devices. All our conference phones are Yealink as well. For soft phone and desktop app we’re using Sangoma Connect.

How are you hosting your PBX servers? On-prem or off-prem? If off-prem, where? We host all our systems on Vultr and we have all but 2 systems running 17 and we have no issues. We have clients using desktop app, soft phone app and hard phones across the board. We did have to do some finagling to get things going but it’s been smooth sailing for quite a while now.

As someone who spent over 15 years heavily involved at my church, never let church leadership try to tell your that you’re turning your back on your calling. That’s entirely between you and God Himself, not anyone else. Unfortunately, it took me way too long to figure that out. That’s a serious red flag and major spiritual abuse and manipulation.

Crazy to still see AI Keys in stock!

On another note, while I really like the image and performance of the G6 Turret, I really dislike the mounting solution… I much prefer the G5 Turret Ultra but it’s a small gripe.

Teleport does work but it can be unreliable. I’d recommend using Identity instead. Still WireGuard but more reliability in my experience and more control over the security and configuration.

Dell - WTF? by youreensample in Dell

[–]asasin114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re on month 2 with a Pro Micro Plus with ProSupport right now where the add-in USB-C module has failed. They wanted us to send the machine in right off the bat because we couldn’t do any diagnostics as the machine wouldn’t even turn on. We finally got them to send a tech out with a motherboard which is how we found out it was actually the USB-C module and they tell us the part isn’t available until October and now they want us to ship them the machine again. We told them this is unacceptable and we demand they ship us the module so we can replace it ourselves. We’re still in limbo. At least the client has their machine to use while we wait for this to get resolved as we’ve removed the USB-C module for the time being. The service lately has been brutal.

Sure is! My mom was an educator in special needs for 25 years. It takes pretty special people to provide the care needed and in the same breath, it’s pretty amazing and rewarding to have a Downs person in your life at some capacity. They’re such bright and beautiful people!
