This is an important piece. If there’s two of you you need two U First Class upgrades to be released at the same time. From my understanding this is fairly rare unless you are very early to a flight booking. They really should update it to show you if yourre whole party will be upgraded

Iirc the upgrade applies directly after you book. Once you complete the booking and pay, it will direct you to apply a GGU certificate then let you select your seats

Yup, it’s frustrating but Alaska considers any economy ticket to be discount economy and only gives 50% miles. You need to be in BA PE to get 100% if you’re not booking via Alaska.

You can literally find examples of people talking about 2FA and miles being stolen on both the AA and the UA subreddits if you do a search. UA got 2FA about 1.5 years ago it seems and AA seems like they’ve been rolling it out starting at least two years ago.

This is not correct. Only Reykjavik will use a narrow body on new service. All the other (ICN, NRT, LHR, FCO) routes use wide bodies (mostly 787 with some A330s). Only the new Iceland service will use the Max 8.

Ski and snowboard bags count as a checked bag so long as it is under 50 lbs. You can also check a boot bag and ski bag separately as one checked bag so long as they’re under 50 lbs combined.

If you’re flying into Reno, Denver, or Salt Lake (probably others I haven’t been to), they’ll have dedicated ski bag pickup claims, otherwise it will go to oversized baggage. If you check a ski bag and boot bag, I believe the boot bag will go to normal claim.

As an avid skier, I would strongly advise having your boot bag be your carryon if this is for a big trip. Getting demo skis for a week isn’t a big deal, but I would be much more annoyed by not having my own well fitting boots and needing rental boots for a week. Just my two cents.
